I recommend Stray Kids-Side Effects for her. The first time I heard that song I didn’t really feel it but after they perform it now it was my favorite song. More than God’s Menu.
Omg, her mentioning the bow and arrow art piece was clutch. It’s from Marina Abramovic and Ulay and the fact that this is in the video just goes to show how multi-domain, multi-genre stray kids, their music and their videos are. People really don’t give them enough credit for how many global cultural influences they have and how often it subtly or overtly shows up in their music without us even noticing.
With over 160 songs that contain over 40 genres... I think Stray Kids will have whatever she is looking for, if she just keeps exploring. Like others have suggested, Side Effects and The Tortoise and The Hare for more experimental vibes. Also, dont forget that 3racha (Bang Chan, Han, Changbin) have fire rap music, too. Loved the reaction to I.N. Baby bread really has grown up. lol
Yes the arrow and bow thing is a reference to Marina Abramovic love when ppl recognise this. It’s about trusting the other holding the arrow on tension. The tip is targeting the heart of the one holding the bow. So if I.N lets the arrow slip it’s done for Chan basically ✨
Less conventional but still commercial - Side Effects; less conventional rap - Tortoise and the Hare, also Maze of Memories. I love that she recognized the art piece connection, Marina Abromovic/Ulay 'Rest Energy.' Stray Kids infuse their work with art references, smart wordplay, and lyrics with meaning - all on top of great music. (yeah, I know I have it bad ... STAY ☺)
Seconding ppl saying Side Effects for more experimental pop. I also think as a theatre performer she might appreciate Back Door bc of the choreo alone, its VERY musical theatre.
I recommend The tortoise and the hare bc for me it’s like one of the more unconventional songs of theirs. Maze of Memories is also a personal favourite
A small note should be made that parts of Maniac -- the verses, which is where she brought this up both times -- are _deliberately_ "conventional" pop. That's the point of those sections. The lyrics there (as well as the onscreen imagery) are about the facades of normalcy people don, the societal expectations to blend in and be the same as everyone else so as not to be labeled "weird." Hence the sonic switch-up (and change in visuals) in the chorus about being your true self, being maniac, being different, where the lyrics and sound sharply contrast with the "normal" verses. This is a song _purposefully_ using a conventional sound in spots so as to employ the entire experience, rather than just lyrics, to convey the whole message. Neither of these is among their more experimental, off-kilter songs, though Venom probably leans a bit more than Maniac. But songs like Third Eye, Maze of Memories, Side Effects, Tortoise and the Hare, etc exist and would probably suit that taste more so long as she goes in without already believing that SKZ are cookie cutters. It helps to keep in mind as you listen that they tend to use more than one genre/style in many or most of their songs -- which means that pop will indeed sometimes happen...and sometimes it happens alongside dubstep or psytrance or samba because the contrast and/or blending are part of the vehicle to convey the point. (I think some of this gets missed on the first run-through of songs because it's hard to absorb the audio AND the visual AND the lyrical all at once.) Also, much of their side-stepping of a conventional sound comes not in one individual song, but rather throughout the discography as a whole. That's why we can get things like r&b and pop-punk and trap and ballads and jazz and EDM all alongside each other in one album and have it all done very skillfully rather than feeling like they're reaching. But yeah, they wouldn't get so much hate for being weird and experimental if they were as consistently conventional-pop-sounding as it seems like she might have gotten the impression they are based on this sample.
Her comment about Maniac sounding kinda Bollywood-ish is exactly what I thought when I heard Maniac for the first time. I don't know why but Maniac really sounds like a bollywood song that I know. - Ok, I remember it. The song is «Dhoom Again» from the movie Dhoom 2, with the famous actors Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan. 2:30 and 4:31 these parts, I don't remember but there's a specific word to describe when a song use a similar part from another one (it not being a sample).
Y’know, those aren’t the ones I’d have chosen as classic stray kids. Also, she’s so relatable. Me too girl, me too, defo team Obsession and mmhm. Stray kids are the only 4th gen that have grabbed my attention and I’ll listen to occasionally.
I just love her!!! I was rewatching her reactions to EXO and then I saw that she did a reaction to Stray Kids and I was like "O_O ... I have to see this!!!"
For Stray Kids, I gotta agree with the other comments saying she may appreciate Side Effects... Also, given her apparent enjoyment of things with a bit more of a dramatic flair, Red Lights; and on a non-SKZ note: perhaps some VIXX? I'm thinking Chained Up, Hyde, or Shangri-La.... Or Xia Junsu's Flower, because I love it and will recommend it whenever I think it may be suitable... You actually know her though, so- I could be completely off XD
If Elliotte likes a harder edge then I recommend Yayaya (pre debut) Grr (also pre debut) and District 9 (debut) also can’t go wrong with Side Effects. I look forward to seeing Elliotte react to Stray Kids again 😊
I didn’t catch it at first too but some of the melody choices in the verses and the “ooh’s” in the chorus remind me of Indian but mostly Arabic scales.
@@Koko3op OH YES! When she said South Asian pop, modern contemporary, I'm instantly reminded of Riz Ahmed's The Long Goodbye, especially Toba Tek Singh and Deal With It. So, maybe what Elliotte meant was something like that? Obviously, I'm not familiar with South Asian music in general, but yeah, I get what she meant

LMAO the giggles when hyunjin appeared and the reaction at i.n being the maknae killed me
He's the youngest.
OH NO!
I love a woman who is so respectful 😆
I'm so glad her favourite is obsession because exo and skz are my ultsssss
I recommend Stray Kids-Side Effects for her. The first time I heard that song I didn’t really feel it but after they perform it now it was my favorite song. More than God’s Menu.
Probably my favorite SKZ title track.

I love her energy lmao, such a nice laugh! You should show her Side Effects if she’s interested in smth less conventional

Ooh! She would love red lights! Dark, sexy, Gothic, and hyunjin!
Also, her reaction to I.N. is everything to me!!!!

Agreed. The choreography has many jazz elements. All around good stuff but I’m a fan so 🤷🏻♀️

Can we get a second video with Side Effects and The Tortoise and the Hare? These songs are more experimental and I hope she will like them :)

Iove her reaction... This was awesome.. More STRAY KIDS pleaseeee ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Everyone falls for hyunjin. He is amazing!
Omg i loooove heeeer 😂🤍
LMAO she got destroyed by the baby bread!
the bow and arrow artists are marina abramovic and ulay
I wonder what her reaction be like to Taste especially the Seoul Concert Performance
Felix texted me in the exact moment he came on screen (on JYP Bubble) 💀 3:19
I don't remember whether you've shown her Sticker before, but you definetely should, not cookie cutter but still commercially viable
I need more off this hahah!👏💜
Would love to see her react to Monsta X - those nice little rnb vibes would be good!
On my list !
@@Koko3op oooh! Cant wait 🤗🙌🏼
DW Elliotte, these guys are fans of Exo as well bc they have impeccable taste like you 😝
Also pls drop the lipstick deets, that shade looks 🔥 on you😍💄
She should see red lights
You have to watch their mma performance
You should show her Red Lights
aw man at least hit her with God's Menu lol
We filmed that too
😊😊
If she wants experimental you should really show her Sticker and Simon Says.
Can I ask who is singing the intro song?😊
SNSD - Paper Plane (slowed)
I'm only 5 minutes in but she's a babyhater like that former dancer lady who is too hard on Hyunjin
Wait what do you mean by a baby hater? Finish the video first
No hate at all but I'm not sure what NSYNC or Bollywood song she was thinking of for Maniac. I feel like I consume both and couldn't place it.
I didn’t catch it at first too but some of the melody choices in the verses and the “ooh’s” in the chorus remind me of Indian but mostly Arabic scales.
