I think you missed the largest asset im swedish armed forces. A asset that have not been in use since 2008 but will go online in 2025 again.
"Mönstringen". Or the pre conscription test.
People often veiw conscription as a second class army, and that may very well be the case for some countires.
But how it works in sweden and finland is very difrent to how ot works in a lot of other countries.
The new system in sweden is slightly modified from the old system. But how it works is that every one go throw a inital theoretical test. Then 25% is selected for physical test and in depth theoretical test.
This way swedish armed forced do not onlt choice the absolute cream of the cream, but also using a 100 year old experiance database to have test that reallt give high quality test results. This way the personell selected to each service. On top of that the armed forced.get first selection a head of universities.
So they have the tools and ability to choise everything from fighrer pilot to ranger from a long aray of test that been homed in to be really conclusive.
But ir dont end there. For example the cv90 and the cb90 have a scania V8 engine in it. This is by command. The thing is that scania is one of the most popular truck brands in sweden, hence we habe lots of scania mechanics. So if you are a scania mechanics in the civilian, you are one in the army as well. This benefit the cicilian, but also get a mecanic that have fresh knolage in case of war.. and a lot of spare parts.
Its also true in the other direction. Many people from the armed forces goes on to be engineers. This is a huge bonus for the defence i industry. You want to develop the next gen artilery. You can actttually get people that are both engineers and trained artilerist. As far as i know, sweden and finland is the only nation where bassically every combination of engineer and military training exist in large quntities.

Much appreciated! After 24 years of political psychosis and disarmament policy, it is good to see people wake up to reality finally. It was inevitable and 100% predictable. The tragedy of this past era of pacifism is that it is costing us dearly in human lives and suffering. With more resources and with a stronger Swedish military force we would have been able to help Ukraine that much more, instead we are now struggling to adapt to the rediscovered geopolitical landscape.
What remains troublesome is that the entire west is so deeply infiltrated by Russia. Political Subversion, or in KGB's own terminology 'Active Measures' have been ongoing for well over 100 years to undermine the west politically.

Almost no one talks about what an asset the Swedish automotive industry is from a military perspective. Sweden boasts huge industrial plants today producing trucks (Volvo Trucks and Scania Group), buses (Volvo Buses), CE (Volvo Construction Equipment) as well as cars (Volvo Cars and worthy of mentioning is of course also Koenigsegg - I'd like to see what comes out of that factory in times of war!). Everyone with the slightest interest of economic history knows how much the performance of the American automotive industry meant during WWII as it successfully adopted to a new role. Sweden has, of course, a much smaller workforce. But in a severe crises, these giant plants could flood the territory of any opponent with tanks. What tank model? Who would drive them? In an all out confrontation with an adversary, there will be satisfying answers to these questions.

It was a naval exercise during which the Swedish Gotland class submarine scored kills on a USN aircraft carrier, not a simulation. The USN simply did not believe that the Swedish submarine had maneuvered so close to the carrier, so on their request it was surfaced. This was when the USN vulnerability to conventional diesel-electric submarines was exposed that led to the Littoral Warfare Ships that continue to be very troublesome projects for the USN, beset with a number of serious problems.

the F16, F18 and F15 they need long runways and landing strips and that these are clean otherwise these planes suck FOD into the engines
The only western fighter aircraft that is manufactured from the drawing board to be able to operate from bases in the forest is the Swedish Gripen
in wartime, Sweden must operate from bases in the forest to have any chance of operating our warplanes for any length of time
The Gripen is made to take off and land from normal car roads
Gripen can be refueling and rearming, including reloading the gun and attaching air-to-air missiles, can be completed in less than 10 minutes with only one technician officer and five conscript mechanics
and costs much less in maintenance and in flight compared to the F16
The Gripen can handle both American and European weapons such as the IRIS-T, Meteor and the RBS15 anti-ship missile, Taurus cruise missile, etc.
Gipen's RCS is of 0.5 to 0.1 sq.m depending on the model
    F15 of 25 sq.m
    F16 5 sq.m
    F18 0.5-2 sq.m depending on the model
    F35 0.05 sq.m
    F22 0.001 sq.m
    china's J-20 0.1-5 sq.m probably something in between
Russia's SU57 0.1-1sq.m according to Suchoj, probably higher
The F 22 Raptor RCS shows how far ahead the US is
    source Sandboxx thedtechind.wordpress.com/2020/06/10/rcs-of-4th-generation-fighter-jets/
The Gripen A and C have performed well when participating in the Read Flag exercise, better than the F16, F18 and F15
A Swedish Air Force pilot flying Gripen C at Red Flag in the US has never lost an engagement ever against a US designed fighter
He has not flown against F-22 and F-35, but F-15, F-16 and F/A-18s have only been his prey, not his nemesis.
the F-22 and F35 are the only operational American fighter that can give Gripen any substantial trouble in Red Flag exercise
but Gripen C can also be dangerous for F22
In America Gripen C in an exercise against the F-22 Raptor the F-22 did not detect the Gripen until it was in a position to kill the F22 Raptor

the new SAAB 39 Gripen E model performs in a completely different class
it is not fair to compare the SAAB 39 gripen E model with the F16
    F15, F16, F18 F already have big problems with gripen A and C model
The SAAB 39 Gripen E is more on par with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II in terms of sensors, radar, Supercruise, etc.
now the F35 does not have Supercruise
Gripen first participated in Red Flag 2006 with the Gripen A It was assigned to the red team. Reduced AWACS, reduced ground support. The Gripens connected their link systems and acted themselves as AWACs, got the battlefield awareness necessary and avoided all ground defense, scored 10 kills the first day including a Typhoon
No losses were recorded on day one they remained undetected.
One Gripen pilot knocked down five F-16 Block 50+ during close air combat in Red Flag Alaska.
And the Gripen never lost any aerial encounter or failed their mission objectives. It was the only fighter that performed all planned starts, while others were sitting on the ground waiting for the weather to clear up.
during a combat exercise with the Royal Norwegian Air Force, 3 Swedish Gripens went up against 5 RNAF F-16's. The result was 5-0, 5-0, 5-1 after having flown 3 rounds
And no disrespect to any other fighters, including Norwegian pilots because they're just as well trained
'During Loyal Arrow in Sweden, 3 F-15C's from the USAF were intercepted by a Gripen acting as an aggressor. The result was 2 F-15's shot down and one managed to escape due to better thrust/weight

now some of this technology is based on technology from the USA that SAAB has integrated with its technology
SAAB has developed a completely unique software that means that in the middle of a flight mission, the Gripen can change its combat task, for example from hunting to ground attack

When I was in the army, the land army could mobilise about 800k men in war time.
And then some for the navy and airforce as well.
Sure, we were not professionals but just conscripts.
I still think that 800k conscripts fighting for their families and home land will totally outmatch 30 or even 60k professionals with better equipment.
For me (and surely many others) it was an obvious mistake when the general military service was canceller and the army wasw cut back by 90% or so.
The airforce was also cut back but not as much as the army.

I guess in return for cancelling our own nuclear weapons program.

From politicians we heard things like they would monitor the situation and if needed build up again.
For me that was already then absurd.
It takes decades to build back what we let go.
      And the cost is enormous.
When we see the need to build up, so does everyone else.
We have done the same mistake several times throughout our history.
Each time it has put our country in danger.
The Finns did not make that mistake.

Before the Baltic became a NATO lake, one Russian threat was a sea-born invasion, but, like in the WWII D-day invasion, landing on a defended coast needs open shores Sweden ha very few of these, apat from the eastern shores of Gotland and Öland. Virtually the whole of the Swedish Baltic is protected by archipelagos, where defenders can hide and attack invaders long before they reach the mainland.
The one excepion is the southernmost province of Skåne, with its open beaches. The defence plans in that region was- and probably still is - based on inland mobile artillery units , armoured and infantry units, not to mention the airforce attacking the hostile armadaof slow landing ships long before it comes close to the shores. Submarines of course wreaking havoc by laying mines and firing torpedoes
In a NATO-lake scenario, the Russian navy had better not leave the port of Baltisk As to Kronstadt: few if any Russian ship will be able to ever leave the Gulf of Finland. Russia might just as well sell the Kronstadt fleet to any scrap-dealer willing to pay anything. At least the Russian navy will contribute to the Russian economy. Rusting hulks at the bottim of the Baltic will not.

So as I understand it, the Russian plan for the Suwalki Gap is still on with the Navy, such as it is, serving as a sacrificial force to keep the Baltics from being resupplied across the Baltic sea. Simultaneously the air force and ground air defenses have to keep NATO planes busy enough for long enough that the mechanized divisions can roll over the Baltic States.
Seems like this plan kind of depends on hostilities ending in a couple of weeks. Sound familiar ?

Finland was a part of the Swedish Baltic empire at that time. The Poles too reached Moskow because both the Swedes and the Poles tried to get their own candidate to become Tsar of Russia, This happened during the time of the false Dimitries.

Even if Russia successfully makes a naval landing and takes out our main army bases and airfields, Sweden has thousands of outposts fully stocked with fuel, ammo, and maintenance supplies. This allows Sweden to deploy its jets and soldiers without relying on major airfields, as he stated. • @quackquackquake9619
      @quackquackquake9619 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

As far as I can see, that grudge has mainly served a narrative after the Second World War, in which Finland was seen to have been and to always be alone without help from the West. The Soviet Union was naturally perceived as a huge threat in Finland, and the government tried to bend to its will and avoid the citizens from even dreaming about any closeness to the western countries or alliances, lest a Soviet military occupation take place (Finlandization), so the victim mentality and resentment towards the Swedes was most likely a psychological defense towards the collective war trauma and insecurity. Creating estrangement and discord between Finland and Sweden has also been Russia's goal for centuries. But since the current and future generations in Finland will not be alone, I believe we can forget the old notions and live as strong allies, and as an outpost of Western democracy and values. ❤
