Gui, about the bird, I was once practicing with my coach and at the end of a tight set I hit a forehand crosscourt with some good pace and hit an owl that was diving to grab an insect on the ground.
We had always joked about hitting the owls that fly around the court on the club that I play, but we never thought it would be possible, but it happened lol!

I think the weirdest rule is if you hit your opposing player on the fly, no matter where they are standing you get the point. Case in point: playing doubles in college and I was serving. I hit the ball with the side edge of my racket and sent a bullet serve into the non-receiving players groin. So even though I clearly would’ve missed the serve whether he was standing there or not, I got the point because the ball hit him before it bounced. (We gave him ample time to recover before resuming play by the way).
That's weird but necessary I think, at least in a rally. I mean imagine you're on the backfoot on a given point, you'd just have to touch the ball directly to either win or replay the point (depending on how the rule changes), easier said than done and it'd hurt but regardless that wouldn't be fair.
I agree that's not how it should be for serves in doubles though, I believe the best solution would be to specifically "amend" the rule for it, much like the let rule in a way.
What is acceptable time for a returner to walk around between points and not being ready to receive a serve?
I think the new rules are 25 seconds or something similar. If it’s a competition and a player is taking a lot of time to be ready to receive you should either serve when you are ready (this is actually the rule) or call an umpire. The receiving player is supposed to play at the server’s speed.
Receiver has to play to the reasonable pace of the server. Generally if the server is ready after 15 seconds the returner should be ready.

The huy who shouted "LET'S GO ROGER" before an Andy serve in that exhibition match made me laugh way too much. I don't think that's a weird "rule" (it's not even a rule, a tournament is just allowed to do it), makes perfect sense that there should be at least something for the fans.
Bruh... I know it's not feasible for most places, but it would be great if there were more singles nets only (not with sticks). The number of times I've played someone and their ball hits the net between the singles sticks and the doubles netpost and lands "in"... and they don't know the rules so they claim their shot is good oi vey
Your opponents are correct if I understand the rule correctly. It says if the ball hits “any fixture” on the court and lands in the shot is good unless it’s on a serve. So even if you are playing singles and the ball hits the netcord between the singles stick and post and goes in it’s a valid shot. The area defined as “on the court” includes everything but the fences, light poles, benches or ump chairs. So even if you are playing singles the area of the net and post holding up the net that are in the alley are included in the fixtures.
