Our Wood Working Legacy ~ growing up with a MASTER woodworker

  • Thank you to my parents, who taught me things that I didn’t know were important until I was parent myself. I must be getting old! A behind the scenes look at the Perkins bro’s childhood home! As well as our father being a builder and architect, our stepfather, Bob Gernandt, is a master luthier. in this video we will tour Bob’s shop and check out his collection of awesome tools and gadgets and see some of his amazing instruments. Also, hear some fun stories from the past about what it was like to grow up with a master Woodworkers Shop right next to the house. There is no wonder why Jaime and I turned out to be builders and Woodworkers ourselves! Thanks again to the parents for all of the knowledge about building, woodworking, and life. You can check out Bob’s instruments on his website www.Gernandt.com. Our mom, Allyson Gernandt, is also a silversmith and maker of fine jewelry. You can check out her work at www.silverandgems.com

What a talented man your stepdad is. Between him and your blood father, it’s no wonder you and your brother are so skillful building homes and wood working. I love your channel! Please keep them coming. I see over a million subscribers on the horizon.

my grandfather was a cabinet maker who passed away in 2004 due to lung disease from all then stains and whatnot to this day i have customers who say i knew your grandfather he did the best kitchens around here i had a job last year remodeling a bathroom for one of his old customers and the kitchen looked like it was done 5 years ago he was way ahead of his time with his cabinets and kitchen design. He would sign his name on the wall behind the refrigerator on every job so i started doing the same on my kitchen remodels. My hope is that when im gone people will remember my work thats leaving a mark in my opinion

Shout out to the step dads that make an effort to be a team in raising children the wholesome way, my dad told me it was ok to love my step dad and it made a world of difference with my anxieties that my bio dad wouldn’t be let down by loving both equally ❤

Patient and calm. Seems like your stepfather has both in abundance. Is that what lead him to his craft or is his craft what gave him those virtues?

I know I'm 3 years late, but I only discovered Perkins Builder Brothers recently. Your step-dad probably influenced you brothers possibly more than you realise. What a guy 'Bob' is making all those guitars and mandolins, real intricate work. Thanks for the peek behind the scenes, great job.

My family were Perkins from North Carolina. My great grandfather came to Kansas in the civil war.nwe are descended from Samuel and Rachel Perkins , he was a Quaker millwright. My grandfather and uncles were carpenters as well, my uncle Adrian ran Perkins Glass and Millwork in Bartlesville Oklahoma, used the same font as you guys do...

Too funny ! Nothing like finding your best chisel, in the dirt behind the shed ! And then lining up the three boys, and asking who was using my chisels?,,, they look at each other,, and then all look at the DOG , and the dog leaves the room in disgust.
