Wish you were here is definitely my favorite story arc. I’ve read all storylines in the crossed universe 😅 It just felt so much more fleshed out story wise.
Agreed. The characters are all so well developed, the expansion and further building of the world that Ennis established is excellent and most importantly the story actually has something to say.
My personal copies were bought several years ago when I was running a comic book store. But recently I've seen them on sale online in physical form from Barnes & Noble and a few other outlets. And they're usually seems to be at least a few volumes up on eBay though prices on those can very highly.
Fun fact: If you've read all the Crossed comics and just want a little more well I managed to find this gem from another comic book artist. Search Mercury Heat Volume Two, issues 7-12 has a surprise twist. It should suffice and enjoy. Edit: It's an interesting plot and something I'd never imagined could happen especially with technology so far advanced into the future it would've been all but impossible to pull off. But seems as I wrong and I'm glad I was wrong. Cheers 🍻
Indeed. One of the reasons why I like this particular story so much is because the amount of heart it in Jackson to an otherwise heartless world without sacrificing any of the more brutal elements that we come to expect out of the franchise.
I have to disagree. I couldn't find a single touching thing about this entire run. None of the characters are good people, none of them are likeable. Crossed +100 Mimic was more touching than this. So was the ending of The Fatal Englishman. I thought WYWH was just trash dressed up in the classic Night of the Living Dead storyline of a bunch of survivors trying to protect their little slice of land/house from the encroaching hordes while it also crumbles from within except that this story had no likeable characters except for Tabitha....and she just gets killed to pull on our sympathy.
I love the way you guys discuss the storylines. It was a poignant, powerful explanation that Shaky simply had to meet the fate he should have at the church. 👍 From Australia
Thank you. For the next video I'll be switching it up a little bit and talking about the ill-fated crossed live action movie and web series that never came to fruition but after that I will be diving back into the books themselves.
Oh I always love to hear your commentary. Thanks for the entertainment guys, I've made sure to tell all like five of my friends about this channel. ^-^
You both have great commentary for this series. Do you have any plans for other issues? I would like to hear what you guys think of +100 or some badlands issues.
Thank you very much. By Design the Crossed discussion series will have rotating guests accompanying me for the various volumes. So at some point in the future Logan will be back to do the Crossed 2013 annual C-Day special that goes into Jackson's backstory and possibly others. But for the next installment in the discussion series which will be posting in October, a fellow TH-camr Joe from JOE'S GEEK SHOW will be joining me to discuss crossed Family Values. Then for Crossed + 100 I'll be joined by TH-camr and Indie Comics creator Trevor Fernandes Lenkiewicz (Dark Knight Nation) though a firm date for that one has not yet been set. And that's about as far as I have the discussion series planned out right now as I'm bouncing in between that and doing Normal reviews of other volumes issue-by-issue. Logan's got a lot of other stuff going on but I wanted him with me on this inaugural kickoff for the discussion series as Wish You Were Here is the series within the franchise with which he is most familiar. I would love to have him back for other volumes but it really just depends on if his schedule will allow for him to reread and make time for filming.

You know...when I first saw this comic book series I thought it was just about the idea of what are people actually capable of irl, but truth be told that even for how fucked up, brutal and sometimes disgusting this comic series was. The story ending of this one was actually well thought out and written. Like this would actually make a good film/tv series if they made it less brutal.
WYWH was actually the first Crossed comic series that I ever started reading. I then skipped around Badlands and then stopped after Psychopath because it just got too funky. I will say that I genuinely loved WYWH the best since it did have a better storyline.
Great discussion, just a note though 'Aoileann' isn't pronounced 'Adaline'. Adaline is a character from Crossed: Family Values. Not sure if this is something you've mentioned before but it kept getting to me throughout the vid
I just finished reading all 4 volumes Only just started checking out the series like a month or two ago anyway I've read the original, family values, psychopath, and now this one As much as I still have my issues with this particular series. I think it's overall the best one yet right behind the original. It doesn't seem so self-indulgent in the shock value as family values, and especially psychopath were This one does indeed tell a interesting story from start to finish, and has its own twisted poetic resolution I just really hate all the decisions everybody makes in the last two volumes LOL You want so bad to root for shaky, but you just see him totally expose what a piece of shit he is and was. Not letting everybody join the fleet sealed everyone's fate. The character you really end up liking the most ends up being damn crossed Teresa. And she still sadly tied to his rotten ass after being turned I think overall there's still definitely a few panels that are existing only to push the shock value and don't actually really add anything. Literally starting the series out with the stupid dolphin scene set a poor tone for me But there's far more hits than misses in this series I think, and it kept me always wanting to read the next issue. Despite the reputation this series has, I think it can be done in an effective manner that isn't just existing solely to push the envelope with shocking panels. Even the original, I feel like only just has that one panel spread that's really edgy. And it works overall in the context of the story to emphasize just how nasty everything is and make you nervous whenever somebody's in trouble. I think this series comes close to doing that kind of thing just as well and that's where I enjoy this comic most. When the intrigue and novelty of such a different post apocalyptic infection is the driving force for reading rather than just gore and rape Jackson is the coolest character though. Despite his sheep buggery 🤣
Couple of things first: Her name isn't Adeline, it's Aioleann and it's pronounced "Ee-lin. Also, the envelope did NOT have cum on the seal, it's stated by The Gamekeeper that it was dried piss. Are you sure you didn't have some Freudian slip there? The problem I have with the whole Crossed comics is that it's always like this. We spend this entire series following Shakey and hoping he isn't really the piece of s'hit that that he seems only to find out at the end of the series that he is the absolute worse than we ever thought. Not only was he complicit in The Gamekeeper's rape of his former employer but he was a closet rapist himself. What an absolute letdown. Who the hell are we supposed to be rooting for in this series? Every Crossed comic seems to end like this. It's like that Crossed Badlands run that followed that bodyguard chick all through her attempt to survive through a pregnancy in the land of the Crossed, we root for her the entire run only to see her end up giving up and sitting down to become Crossed by eating infected meat. The only comics that I actually enjoyed the endings of were, The original Crossed comic, the Crossed Badlands comics that featured The Englishman (The UK Prime minister's bodyguard) and I thought Crossed +100 Mimic was especially good. Thomas "Fleshcook" was probably the best protagonist of the entire Crossed world bar The Englishman. My problem with most of the Crossed comics is even the protagonists are unlikable, evil, selfish little s'hits that leave you with no-one ro like or root for in these comics. It's just all "Every human being is a completely selfish, self-centred A-hole when push comes to shove" which gets a bit depressing over time. Even the girl who survives Lloyd in the Crossed Psychopath run turns out to be a cannibal larper with only a tenuous grip on reality. Please, I would love to hear anyone else's opinions on who the protagonists in this comic are and why we should be rooting for them to win instead of reading on just to see the main A-hole finally get what's coming to him. In my opinion, the Crossed: WYWH ending is incredibly unsatisfying as we never even get to see the two biggest dipshits (Shakey and The Gamekeeper) finally get their just desserts. It all happens offscreen. Sorry for rambling on for so long but I just finished reading WYWH for the second time and remembered why I hated it in the first place.
@banquo3873 Well, why did this person say it was dried cum when it was explicitly stated by The Gamekeeper that it was piss. Why would someone talk about a sexual fluid as opposed to simple bodily waste product. Piss is NOT sexy. This guy probably gets off on saying provocative things. It's f*cking weird to talk about male sexual fluids when all you had to do was talk about was a human waste product. If you mistake talking about licking an envelope tainted by piss with licking an envelope tainted with cum, you have problems.

Weirdly touching ending for croseed
