      Point, although exaggerated,well made. I’m sure that there are drink/cruising laws on the canal. Regardless it’s not a good look, particularly as the kids may view the videos. It added nothing to the video.

    There's some nice cling window film on Amazon for a good price. You could keep the sunshine and light but have some privacy in that bathroom window. Super easy to put up and stays perfect. I think Rob is on to something. You would never leave your windless if it had a bottle opener in it ☺

    • @redfox05nl
      @redfox05nl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      on the note of these they are great but, if you have single glazing, put it on the inside, but if you have double glazing, you cannot put the film on the inside and it must go on the outside, otherwise the sun gets reflected into the double glazing gap and the heat causes cracking of the glass.

    In 1276 the manor of Chilterne Langley was purchased by Queen Eleanor, wife of King Edward I. She built a hunting palace complete with its own deer park on a hill above the village, which was renamed Langley Regina in her honour before eventually becoming Kings Langley 🇬🇧❤️

    Hello James for my onboard lights I done same with under gunnel lights but I then braught some corner trunking and mounted them to the top where the roof meets the top side walls ally with defuser can't see the led when off but creates so much light and only uses 1 amp or so for the whole 47 foot of springer space 😂😂😂 keep up great content

    If you like curvy canals James you should come up the River Lea and check out the River Stort, parts of that feel like boating through a jungle!! There's a decent boatyard in Stanstead Abbotts just a little north of the Stort junction, (no locks to get to it).

    This is an interesting stretch of canal through the Gade valley. The River Gade joins the GU just north of where the old lime juice wharf was. The stretch between Nash Mills and Toovey’s Mill is intact the canalised river. Oh my! How it’s all changed. Did you know that the Kings Head is haunted?

    I reckon the beers were purchased in shop on the corner as you come off the bridge, if the shop is still there. I used to fish that part of the canal probably 87-88 and bought my very first and last Sunday Sport newspaper in that shop, I could only been 12.

    Others although exaggerated have made comment about the alcohol consumption whilst cruising. I’m sure that there are drink/cruising laws on the canal. Regardless it’s not a good look, particularly as his kids may view the videos. Take it from someone who used to be an avid viewer and supporter of the channel, the multiple references to alcohol consumption added nothing to the video, which was otherwise moderately interesting.

    • @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt
      @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do see your point BUT…..
      Kids don’t watch this - my average age viewer is 61. I drank one beer and after the week I had at work I was owed it. Of course I’m being responsible, I’m navigating my home around other boats. I’ll repeat it was one beer.
      It’s part of boatlife, having a beer whilst cruising is part of boat life. I’m not over doing it, I’m not making it anything else other than what it is. One beer on a cruise. Perfectly legal and perfectly enjoyable. I’m sorry that the 3 references to having a beer added nothing in your opinion but it all helps tell the story.
      I hope you are well
      Thanks for caring
      J

      @meljones7067 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi James
      if you are adamant that you only consumed 1 beer, may I suggest you watch your Vlog again. You start the trip with a bottle of "Birra Moretti" which you show yourself consuming and by the time you get to "North Grove" Lock (10.30) you invite your friend to go to the fridge and provide a follow up. This time a bottle of "Doom Bar". In any language that 2 beers and for all to see refutes, by your own admission, your response to Helen. Maybe you need to review your response.
      I'm not against a beer on a hot day but am concerned that showing such activities leads to an acceptable behaviour, it becomes the norm, at which point the new boundaries expand further. Had the journey been longer how many more beers would have been consumed?
      There are rules for alcohol consumption on the canals which are very similar to road rules, the fact there are insufficient resources to police/monitor such behaviour is a separate issue.
      As highlighted by the 11 likes my initial comment received, and to which you did not reply, there are others that have sympathy with the point I was making.
      May be some things are left on the editing floor and not highlighted, including what could be concluded to be a sponsored advertisement.

    Having just watched this Vlog I must admit to being appalled at some of the content. Let me start by asking you "Do you drink beer whilst driving your car?" If the answer is NO then why not? Apart from approx 12T what do you consider the difference? With such a large subscription It might be appropriate you demonstrate a "responsible" approach to narrow boating where you highlight your concern not only for your own safety but that of others! And I note this is not the first time you have shown this trait on your Vlog.
    I appreciate fully the time taken to produce your Vlogs and what you choose to include is entirely your own business, but I encourage you to maybe , if you continue to drink alcohol while driving, to leave those clips on the editing floor!
    I'm sure there are some who will view my comments with distain but I would only ask them the same questions.
    Maybe this could be the subject of a future Vlog where you discuss the merits of consuming alcohol whilst in charge of a narrowboat on a public waterway, I'm sure it would produce a "Lively Debate"!
    Mel

      What an ill considered response! You have absolutely no idea who I am or the problems I might I have faced with others and their alcohol abuse.
      So you clearly encourage the practice of alcohol consumption whilst in charge of a 15T narrowboat on public waterways. how very sad.
      Maybe it is you who needs to "stick to cartoons"!
      I note that there is 2 likes to my comments which indicates there are others who agree with my views.
      Maybe it is you that needs to "Grow Up" and take a more mature attitude to alcohol consumption, especially in the public domain!

      There's a very good reason why drinking alcohol and driving on the road is strictly forbidden. On the other hand, there is no doubt quite a good reason why it is permitted whilst cruising on the cut. Look up the statistics and find out how many accidents have been caused by those drunk in charge of a narrowboat. I'd be (genuinely) interested in hearing the results of your research, but I suspect that you may be worrying unnecessarily.
