Get your own departure board here! ukdepartureboards.co.uk/ Thanks to Russ for sending me the pro board to make this video.. and remember, watch to the very end!
What was more funny is that there was also a prospective passenger there, who found out it was cancelled through the board! (He didn't want to be in the video)
@@funnygallie7863Spoiler for the joke There's a Kelly Rowland song that has a music video with Kelly sending a SMS in Excel on a PDA, searching "kelly rowland spreadsheet" should bring it up
Thus is an amazing idea! 😍😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😍 Wouldn't it be hilarious if a ton of people go to all the stations without departure boards and do this ALL ON THE SAME DAY!
Love the video Jen, it great to see Denton getting a upgrade and it great to see 'another TH-camr' as well with a cameo appearance. Do always want one of those Departure Boards lol
Jen and her big mouth - great idea and action - very well done on the idea - but we need a bigger departure board where the whole station is listed and linked to all the announcements
There has to now be a bus stop departure board challenge to do the most remote stop in the UK which I am guessing might be somewhere in the Hebredies or Shetland. It will probably involve getting wet and bitten by midges and no costa, but it will also mean an epic journey to get there. Let the challenge begin!
A similar thing happened to me the first time I went to travel the Stockport to Stalybridge. It was cancelled. Anyway I did Heysham Port that day and returned to Do Stalybridge to Stockport earlier this year. To complete Northern's north West Parliamentaries, I did Helsby to Ellesmere Port in March and yippee can do Clitheroe to Hellifield next month!
I was confused, I immediately thought Teesside Airport and then I remembered Denton was the 'true' least used station. Hope to meet you, Stuart, Geoff, possibly Fiona Hyslop, Alex Hynes and others at Leven station on Sunday morning. I will getting the 09.21 service from Haymarket.
I don't think, we have a once a week stop in Germany. But this was truly amazing. And the comedy added by Northern was true gold. We do have high speed train stations which are serviced once or twice a day (where nobody ever leaves the train). But there is still regular traffic when they are not coming. So it is not totally dead. We also have station announcement boards (e.g. in Offenbach near the real Frankfurt) where you can see the next train which will leave in 22 hours from this platform and is only available with a valid historic train ticket. The same is with the busses which stop at friday evening and resume on saturday morning. Then it has something like "Next bus:10 minutes, next bus after that: 622 minutes"
those once a week stops are called Parliamentary trains, basically, it's a very hard parliamentary process to abolish a station (and a railway line), but railway companies can reduce service to 'unwanted' stations to virtually unusabe. Some are used for maintaining route knowledge for the drivers in case of diversions, some of those service are somewhat useful, running Mo-Sa, for instance, others... not so much.
Brilliant invention. All the train operators should put Russ in charge of upgrading their station departure screens So typical that that the once a week Stalybridge to Stockport service went melons up (to quote G's terminology) the first time you tried it out
I still need to get round to buying my own Departure Board- it’s a brilliant rail enthusiast gadget that everyone needs! Absolutely love the video idea, great delivery as always and a fantastic intro 💯
Literally stayed overnight in Stockport to ride this line only on Saturday morning. Was so relieved it actually ran but nearly missed it as I overslept lol. Pretty funny in the video when the board showed the train as cancelled, really dedicated to go back a week later! Didn't know the departure boards did buses as well. Also Stockport to Stalybridge is quite a waste of infrastructure, think Manchester could really do with some circular rail or tram routes, it would make it easier to get around, used the 330 bus from Ashton under Lyne to Stockport and it was so busy!
Hi jen great video. You need those displays at Godley, the only station on the hadfield line with no live info displays, just a printed timetable! Im into costa too and theres one in crown point shopping centre about half a mile from the station (free parking). Love the cats!
Jen you are literally a real delight and very naturally funny. Loved this video :) edited comment. I can see you have put a link up to the board. Might get one for my trip to scotland
Great fun all round. I remember staying at the Premier Inn in Denton and looking up the trains. In those days there was one, in one direction. Glad to see there are more now. Great to see G as well. Love these boards, shame they are a bit out of my price range - at the moment.
Absolutely loved this - but did wonder if you were going to put your knickers on your head 😜 I definitely want to get one of these departure boards - I’m just wondering how much sighing there will be from my wife if i do 😜
I want that large LED train information display in my bedroom. Was it heavy to carry it around. Plus I think that Northern should increase more extra services for Northwest England and Northeast England.
G'day from Oz. I'd like to get an Australian version of that board. This is the first one of your videos I've seen ever. I normally watch Geoff Marshall videos. As I never thought that our people (Yes I'm a Trans person) made Gungal Videos. That's SUPER COOL!
I wonder… if you stuck it on a pole with one of the signs and left it running, how long would it take before anybody noticed? (presumably you'd have to find wifi from some local business or attach a dongle to it so it doesn't need your phone; attach a solar panel or something for power… but I'm sure it should be possible)
