He uses mental stop losses. I think many people just misunderstood his meaning of "stop loss"

Stop losses are perfectly acceptable if you want to properly manage your risk. Take an acceptable loss (< 2% of portfolio) on a properly sized trade 5-10% of the time and you'll have a good expectancy on your trades- and won't blow up your account. The Tasty way of rolling and adjusting will eventually screw you- believe me I tried and found out. Remember, Tom is a nice guy but he wants to make money on you churning your trades for commissions and fees.

Finally!!! This data analysis answered probably the most frequently asked question on the TT network, 'why don't you guys ever use stop loss???'and here's the quantitative statistical analysis to support their logic for not using them. Thanks Tom and Tony.

Hello Tasty. When are we able to put complex orders on futures? I would like to roll my futures like I can roll ETFs and stocks guys!

Sometimes no matter how smart we think we are we are just plain wrong and thats where stop loss comes in. Another way to put it

I recall, the chance of touching the money is about double the chance of closing in the money, therefore about half the trades ITM will end up OTM.

It depends what you are trading. If you are trading Nvdia or similar you will be safe. If you are trading small caps you can lose your shirt in one candle.

In your study are you closing out at 50% of profit and are the trades put on daily? Sorry if I missed that but I don’t see it in the slides. Also, do you share the details of the results like say in excel format by chance?

Hi guys I know your guys trade options but would you hold the same opinions about using stop losses for scalping the futures market where most scrapping trade don’t exceed 20-30 points or 80-100 ticks.

Then why does the TT platform offer the "Bracket" option? Isn't half the bracket a stop loss?

You are comparing apples and oranges. And you are doing this on purpose as well. To promote Tasty way to trade (high delta and 45 dte). If you want to actually do a study that will show proper results, you need to backtest stop losses and your “managing early” strategy together. I am puzzled why your data team didn’t tell you that you are running a completely flawed and irrelevant study. A real disappointment here Tom! What if you breach your call side or your put side and you are running some 500-600% loss, your BP exploding, you don’t stop? Just run your account into the ground? What kind of advice are you giving people?

I couldn’t even FIND a stop loss function on your platform. Plus, it crashes or freezes up randomly. I’m not the only person reporting that, either. Horrible experience. Glad I switched brokers.
