This shot put competition was held at the site of the classical games in Olympia, the Greek city state of Elis from 776BC. Def a top historic Olympic moment.

And like in the old days, they held it under the Sun, no artificial this and that.
There was never going to be a WR there, but damn it hit a 10/10 on the nostagia scale!
Edit: And also, in this era where Olympic spending is wild, this event was probably the cheapest ever to set up!

I almost cry when I think about this. Maybe in 2000 years someone will find these videos, and name their sports games ''olympics'' to honor these games, and hold their competitions at the same site one more time.

I think the Olympics is way too big right now to even stop. If humanity is still alive and kicking 2000 years from now, I think the Olympic Games will still exist, although in a very different format with different events. 2000 years is too much time, maybe we will be having events in different planets or moons outside the Earth, maybe we will be having events in simulated realities inside a computer, but I don't think the Olympic Games will ever stop as long as humanity exists. I don't think nostalgia will ever cease to exist either, so I'm pretty sure they will be having events at this old stadium at Olympia.

You want a crazy stat about the Olympics?
The ancient ones were in the start just 1 sport (200m) and then expanded and it skipped some years iirc, but the ancient Olympics were held over a period of 1200 YEARS!
So our cutey little modern Olympics has only been around for 1/10th (120yrs) of the original ones!
And if we compare the Colosseum "games" with modern "anything" events, then the Colosseum games went on for about 400 yrs as well (w.300,000-400,000 deaths)

it's annoying to convert feets to meters to understand how long they throw shots
