    As a non sea-person, it is bizarre to see a huge container ship underway at a good clip - on a river! Good video!

      Displacement waves are extremely dangerous in rivers and other contained waterways, the water is lifted and pushed creating danger to smaller vessels and those that are on the banks. It is like a tsunami coming up the river to those there .

    Can someone explain how these ship are able to take sharp turn ?? Even some do not have bow thrusters.

    • @Shipspotting_Vietnam
      @Shipspotting_Vietnam  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The ship can turn to left or right because it has a rudder, when the rudder turns, propeller pushs water and creates a water flow, then water flow hits rudder and changes its flowing direction, this will push the stern of the ship to desired directions. It is the same as excavator having steering wheel at the back!

    • @Shipspotting_Vietnam

      Thank you so much for watching my video, normally, fishing motor boats will move to another site of river to avoid those waves, I usually release fishes on the ground to the river after such powerful waves! So, it is still safe here since local people know that it is dangerous when the ships pass by!
