3:15 this is presented as some kind of scandal, but “beef oil” or suet has been used to fry things for thousands of years if not longer. It’s a higher-quality, and more expensive, ingredient than just vegetable oil. McDonalds never hid this fact, and back when people had some knowledge of cooking it would be a fair assumption that anything fried would be fried in animal fat. It’s like if you get refried beans at a Mexican restaurant - a fair assumption is that they would contain lard, the traditional preparation technique.
@Asmodius Jones You've highlighted the historical context beautifully. The use of beef oil for frying has deep roots, and it's a testament to the changing culinary landscape over the years. 🍽️📚😁
I loved Macdonald's fries when I was a kid, back when they used lard to fry them. Now, they aren't worth the calories. Also, hydrogenated Soybean oil (what they use now) is far, far less healthy than beef fat.
Sorry, beef fat is Tallow, not suet. Beef tallow is the reason why McDonalds fries are acclaimed to be the "best" fries of all the fast food fries. It was a sad day when they started using vegetable oil instead. BTW, vegans don't count.
@Naturally Wild Cooking oil choices can impact your health differently. While some people prefer beef tallow for its perceived benefits, others opt for alternative oils. It's essential to consider your individual dietary needs and consult with a healthcare professional if necessary. 🍳😊
@@BabbleTopSeed oils are death in a bottle. Not natural. However cold pressed fruit oils are safe if they have not been poisoned with seed oils. A big problem.
Right. You can skip fast food and cook your own meals every time. But there are still chemicals in that food from the animal or vegetable itself, pesticides, medicines, disease, preservatives, etc. Our food IS killing us. In the US anyway. And like you said our water. The water companies (for city water) are allowed to leave certain amounts of toxins in the water. It's just crazy. Eat, drink, be merry and die young so you don't suffer as much
I said this before I used to work at McDonald. When they make the egg mcmuffin, they use real eggs. Yes, they come out of the shell. The eggs at McDonald's that are used for the mcmuffins are real.
I hear ya, I stopped the other day and got a sausage McMuffin meal with 2 extra hash browns and it was $21.74. I almost had a heart attack, especially at the price for the hash browns. They were $4.89 alone, they were 2 for $1.00 right before COVID. Even the cashier confirmed that price and said that the increase in supplies since Biden took office and the $15 wage were the cause for the huge increase. It’s sad that you can go out for a sit down meal for the same, or often lower, price as McDonald’s. 😢
Yes and I made 50 cents an hour making it. They also had us punch in and out every 6 mins away f it got slow so they wouldn't have to pay that 50 cents.

This is going back probably 40 years ago, but I worked with a woman whose former job was at McDonald's Corporation when it was in Oakbrook, IL. She told me the thing that made McDonald's French fries taste so goo was because they were fried in a combination of lard and beef tallow. My grandmother, who didn't eat pork for religious reasons accused me of lying to ruin French fries for her.
There is a lot more to to worry about than just cooking fries in beef oil. The way the potatoes are treated before processing will put you off their fries all together.
Worked at one of the potato factory’s that filled the McDs fry orders. Nothing is added. They were flash frozen. The lines were slowed down for better inspection

Used to work at mcdonalds, ended this year. The eggs are 100% real. Even the folded eggs are real at times. When the pre-folded eggs run out they use real eggs scrambled and rolled with a tool. They are all cracked and cooked. The fries are straight up potatoes, and the oil is straight up oil. I have changed and cleaned the vats on a daily basis. The salt on the fries is also straight up table salt. Note: the oil used to cook fish is filtered into the same pan oil filtered from chicken oil. Fry oil is 100% separate from the meats. They use their own vat system.
A lot of restaurant scrambled eggs use additives. They use a boxed mixture with critic acid in their scrambled eggs. I learned this from working in a summer camp kitchen.

Unless you're opposed to it for 'ethical' reasons (tho if you have food ethics you wouldn't be eating MickeyD's i guess), consider it a sort of 'bonus' if you get horsemeat in your burger, honestly. It's actually quite tasty when it's been bred for consumption; we ate horse steaks in Kazakhstan (which were fantastic!), and had horse in China a few times in different regional soups, which basically functioned as sliced roast beef. "McDonald's McNuggets are made of finely chopped chicken parts". That IS the very definition of "pink slime". It's been used in Asian everyday food for years! Heck,I've even made my own...
I use to work at wendy's morning shift for over a month and quit it for a better job that pay's more. Anyways. For the eggs, there real, I cracked them open and we use heavy salt, and nonstick spray on a flat top eggs. That is it. As real as you can get. 🍳
@gravethebeyond Freshly cracked eggs, a sprinkle of salt, and a sizzle on the flat top - that's how you know it's the real deal at Wendy's breakfast! 🍳🧂🔥
Take a boneless chicken thigh. Put it in a blender on puree. This is pink slime. People will eat the chicken thigh cut into pieces no problem but are grossed out at the thought of eating the same thigh turned into puree and formed into a McNugget.
@Brett DeLong The world of culinary creations is vast and full of surprises, and it's great to appreciate the variety and creativity in food preparation. 🍗🍔
It's not "beef oil." It's called tallow. Long, long ago it was the byproduct of cooking hamburgers. Cook the burger, scrape the grease into the fryer. And it was never adulterated with "vegetable" oil. Tallow is the "secret" of great fries in many other countries.

I appreciate they avoided the "margarine is two molecules away from being plastic" meme $#!+. The meme's problem is it misapplies the term "plastic." When they had that 25 or 50 cent cheeseburgers one day a week back in the late 90s. My dad would buy a cart load and we ate all week.
People eat what they have access to--just like McDonald's.
noted!
I work at McDonald's and don't eat the food😂
Re bugs, carmine is a red dye made from the cochneal beetle. It is found in Starbucks red fruit drinks among other things...
The red dye is used in a range of food and cosmetic products, including:
Candy
Ice cream
Children’s snacks
Cake mix
Juices
Burgers
Sausages
Yogurt
Lip sticks
Eyeshadows
Shampoos
Lotions
Pill coatings
Horsemeat? Hell yhea! Thats great! Its evan more expensive then beef! The hell😂
This is why I stopped eating fast food
Okay... I'm gonna eat only tuna in cans from now on thank you...
how about some 🍣
Don't eat too much or you will get mercury poisoning.
why would McDonald's care about vegan complaints?
11:25 the question is what is a factory doing making horse meat burgers in the first place… forget that they didn’t clean the machine well enough why was it there to begin with?
And yes, I understand places like India where cows are sacred and they can’t imagine us eating them exist… but who the hell is eating a horse burger, stallion and steak fries, pure bread and poutine, a Belgian and a beer…
@Richard Lang Strange choice indeed! Any other food scandals or controversies that caught your attention?
@@BabbleTop did you ever do a video about the issue? Bumblebee tuna had some years back? I’m not sure if it was a hoax, or some truth, mixed with a hoax about human remains being canned later recalled. One day, probably a decade ago. My wife and I opened a can of tuna. That was so I can horrendously rancid smell, it nearly cleaned out my house and I am coughing gagging panic
It boggles me that frying food in animal oils is considered an unusual practice to some. In some regards, its actually considered healthier than the vegetable oil today for frying, and was much more commonplace years ago.
Beef talow is why the frys were so good when i was a Kid in the 80s
@timothy gibbs Ah, the 80s fries! 🍟🕰️ What is it about beef tallow that you think made those fries so good, and do you miss that flavor in today's fries?
Soft-serve ice cream contains half the milk fat and dairy content as regular ice cream. Soft serve is in a way considered "Light" ice cream
@Blue Blouse Designs👚 The 'light' aspect of soft-serve ice cream makes it a guilt-free indulgence for many. Perfect for enjoying a sweet treat without the added richness! 🍦😊
@@BabbleTop well said
@Blue Blouse Designs👚 Thank you so much!!!👏🏻
But it's not the fat you should've afraid of it's the sugar. The sugar is very bad for overall health.
@@watchinvidzwatchinvidz7691 agreed 💯
McDonald’s does use real whole eggs in the non-scrambled egg items. The scrambled egg comes in a milk carton like you can get at any grocery store. Nothing that scary.
@Erin “oomami” malone Thank you for clarifying the ingredients used at McDonald's! Knowing they use real whole eggs is a positive aspect for those who enjoy their breakfast offerings. 🍳🥞"
You are one their legislative minions.. You're not fooling me. 👀🤔
McDonalds didnnt use beef fat to deep fry their french fries, it was beef bullion cubes in w/ the vegetable oil. They stopped over 15 years ago.
Well im sure there are far mor in that pink slime than chicken thigh. Or why would they have to puree the stuff!?*
And people worry about MSG 😂
The fries were a lot better then.
Pretty Sure it's false, cause i'm getting worried...
The hamburgers are not hamburgers it is fake food same as the cheese and Bread is made with ingredients that are made for yoga mats lettuce is real
How come they said "in canada" and had the canadian flag over US territory?
"It looks just like ice cream"
"yes, that was their intention"
"WHOSE?!?"
I stopped eating all fast food the day I found out that Bill Gates had his dirty little hands in the industry…
Mcdonalds originally used beef talo to deepfry their frenchfries, however, due to a healt health scare they switched in like the 80s.
It's not "beef oil." It's called tallow. Long, long ago it was the byproduct of cooking hamburgers. Cook the burger, scrape the grease into the fryer. And it was never adulterated with "vegetable" oil. Tallow is the "secret" of great fries in many other countries.
Vegetable oil causes cancer.
I don’t eat french fries at all anymore .
Unless I make them at home💡
@OG-GREEN MACHINE Health first! 🥦💪 How has cutting out commercial french fries affected your overall well-being, and have you noticed any positive changes in your diet since making this switch?

McDonald’s fries tasted best when they fried them in beef fat
@Dennis Houle Classic taste! 🍟🥩 McDonald's fries cooked in beef fat had a unique flavor. Do you think the switch to vegetable oil impacted the overall quality of McDonald's fries?
nuggets made of "chicken parts"
Ugh. You've put me off some of my favorites.
I call bullshit on the egg issue. I've bitten into McDonalds EggMcMuffin and gotten actual egg shells in my mouth.
The movie Supersize Me proved that the food does rot (except the fries) but does some strange things in the process. It also proved, and disproved, many of the rumors about McDonalds food. Mainly that while it tastes good, it’s really not healthy for you and will do weird things to your body overall.
@malcolmr3 Absolutely! Supersize Me shed light on the impact of McDonald's food on the body. What's your take on fast food, and have documentaries like this influenced your eating habits? 🍔🤔
@@BabbleTop I take most of these “documentaries” with a grain of salt. I think I’ve always kinda known that anything that tastes that good for that cheap can’t be good for you. Now they’ve even gone up on the price and we’re so addicted to them that we’re actually willing to pay even more for something we know is bad for us. I rarely eat there anymore but I was starving the other day and stopped in for a McMuffin meal and got two extra hash browns and it was $20 and change!!! The hash browns alone were $4.89, me and the cashier even talked about how pre Covid they were 2 for $1. The thing is it’s getting even worse, to the point I remember the line from “Demolition Man” where they talk about how Taco Bell won the fast food wars and now all restaurants were called Taco Bell. 😵💫
The frying in beef tallow is healthier and better tasting!

Not McD's, but a lot of candy, gum drops and jelly beans and similar things contaild Carnuba Wax... a common ingredient in car polish. Note, I don't think the Carnuba Wax would be the reason eating car polish will kill you, but it was surprising to me when I realized the common ingredient.
In Canada, what Amercans call Smarties, we call Rockets.
What we call Smarties are like M&M's. But if you hold them too long in your hand the coloring will come off on your hand. They do not contain wax.

That's not the first time retailers in the UK have been caught selling horse meat as beef. A few years back Aldi got busted as 100% of the "ground beef" they were selling in the UK tested as horse meat.

I appreciate they avoided the "margarine is two molecules away from being plastic" meme $#!+. The meme's problem is it misapplies the term "plastic." In the comment the meme literally states, the word is meant (deceptively) to suggest a petroleum sourced, processed and refined product which has a reasonably solid status for varied uses. CORRECTLY applied, the term describes the viscous stability/malleability of the butter alternative. So, yes: I harshly rebuke all who share that meme with deceit.
@Dennis Anderson Thank you for addressing the misuse of scientific terminology in memes. Clear communication helps promote a better understanding of complex topics. 📖Keep watching!❤️
I bet the beef oil made taste better
I love the last bit with the shark. Complaining about the calories , dude check out the cholesterol level 😁
OMG they add that crap to my shoes, next time I go to Micky D's I'm going bare foot!
Well. That's that. I've had my last chicken McNugget. We had a good run 🐔👀
@Kris Frederick Farewell, beloved McNuggets! They say all good things must come to an end, but the memories of those tasty bites will live on. 🐔👋😊
BS!! McD's chicken nuggets are stamped out, go through a curtain of batter and then pre-deepfried before being flash frozen. There's no way they'd "melt into a puddle". I should know, I worked for Tyson 20yrs ago.
I seriously can’t believe ppl still eat at McD’s. Anyone that works there will tell they’ll never eat that crap. Giving it to kids should be child abuse!
And- as bad as fast food is: the school cafeteria food in the USA- the stuff we feed to children- is worse than the foods we serve In prisons.
And this is why ADHD, autism, and childood diabetes and heart disease is on the rise. The food is not food. Thats why it cost a dollar. Great video
Now I'm hungry!
Anyone remember the whole "hold the sauce" scandal in the early 1990s. The dude got caught jerkin his gherkin on some food. Then rallys actually had a commercial joking about it. Im kinda surprised rallys survived that fiasco.

The screwed up the nuggies!!! My cat loved those until the last time I ordered them!! Now she won't touch them!! They are so thin!! I used to be able to remove the breading and now there's no way!!! They flattened them!! Grrrr they need to fix that!!
My bestie is vegetarian but she couldn’t get any fries from Great Steak because they are fried in the same grease used for the steak. 😒
@Anthony Rupert I understand how frustrating that must be for your bestie. Cross-contamination can be a real concern for vegetarians. Maybe next time, you can explore some other delicious veggie-friendly options together! 😊

I learned many years ago that chocolate has a maximum level of allowed bugs. I still eat chocolate because well, it's chocolate. It's best not to think to hard about it.
Cereal has a MAXIMUM number of rat hairs.
I think you meant maximum not minimum 😮. The way you said it means chocolate has to have at least that many bugs.
@@stephenolan5539 Yes if below that level it's fine.
I don’t eat at Mc D’s by the time I get done with the horrible service and the horrible food, I could have eaten 3 times the amount with out the attitude or additives.
Mcdonalds does not use real except except for egg Mcmuffin sandwiches or when ordering a round egg single. Otherwise they use fold over eggs which come frozen.
My daughter is allergic to chicken and chicken eggs but she can eat McDonald’s chicken nuggets with no reaction
@Jo Lee Safety first! It's essential to keep a close eye on your daughter's allergies, and if McDonald's chicken nuggets are a safe option, it's a relief for both her and you as a parent. Always consult with her healthcare provider for guidance on managing her allergies. 🍔👩👧💕
No wonder why, McDonald's foods is so processed it's nothing like chicken in the end. The mass amounth of additives probably killed the chicken cell at a mollecular level
As someone who cooks chicken for a living ,chicken shrinks like all meat does when cooked
As someone who has worked in a Poultry Processing planet that made nuggets using the same style recipe as Mcdonalds, No bones are ever put into the mixes. Fats and Tendons, yes very much so and sometimes extra fat is added by adding bags of skin to the mix.
McDonald's nuggets are made using 100% white meat. It really doesn't matter what nuggets you were producing if they were not McDonald's nuggets specifically
Corporate greed is killing America.
