What an impressive sight of UP 844 pulling freight trains by it's own power and double heading with UP 3985. Love this video.
Glad you enjoyed
Man I love 844 in the Greyhound paint scheme.
Amazing video of Union Pacific 844 in her 8444 greyhound paint scheme! I love that she was pulling a baggage car and an entire freight train without the use of a aux tender! That’s what she was made for!
Union Pacific 844 looks cool in this paint scheme.
This just proves why the 844 is the Living Legend, and which UP needs to use this engine more often
Yes indeed!
One of the prettiest paint schemes on the UP roster, it’s disappointing that it’s gone but reasonable considering how much maintenance it takes to maintain it.
0:55 one of my favorite shots
UP 844 is a handsome steam locomotive that has an impressive operation history of hauling many famous excursion trains, I always enjoy seeing footage of 844 in operation. The black/ graphite paint scheme is a typical scheme for steam engines, but the 844 has a handsome and unique appearance while displaying the "greyhound" paint scheme which looked excellent on Union Pacific rr passenger equipment.
Gotta love the 8444
The 844 of the UP in the gray color scheme is just nice to look at.
A very nice video. I was actually fortunate enough to see #844 up close in 2019 (for the Golden Spike 150th Anniversary), and have an HO scale model of her in her Greyhound paint scheme.
One of the scenes was shown in I love toy trains!
It would be pretty cool if 844 got painted gray again, but if it did I think it should only stay a year or two as it got way in both keeping the engine clean from what I heard.
Has nothing to do with cleanliness, its just expensive and time consuming to have a tricolor scheme rather than uniform black
@@trainknut ik
sensational this Maria smoke I loved it
She is like the 3985 that haul huge tons of freight.
1:33 Yo! That's a PH&D boxcar! Cool!
Up 844 Greyhound pulls freight trains
the charry on top is the caboose at the end of the train
I prefer greyhound 844 to Normal 844, just a great paint scheme that you don't see nowadays. I think 3977 is the only engine with the greyhound paint today
Wonderful video :)
UP 844 Greyhound express
How come when steam engines pull freight now it's only 20-30 cars? The 90s really were the height of excursions.
The 844 is the loudest gray engine of Wyoming!
Fantástico 😃
My favourite steam engine
Was this freight train actually loaded? Or was it just a photo freight?
It was actual freight as the engine deadheaded to Omaha
Awesome. Is this raw footage from the past or did you film it yourself?
Old footage shot by Grant Geist back in the day
U were in the old days?
We're a collaboration of 9 members. Some of us have purchased exclusive rights to old footage, others have worked out agreements with the organizations that own old footage. We have either exclusive rights or rights to use footage as old as the 1940s.
