Andrea, he said: (Smile back) (At me) So many people have conflicted feelings about this song. It’s very different but I love the vibe and especially the contrast with how sad the lyrics are. It’s been interpreted as Vessel talking to himself, like in a mirror and self-reflecting. Trying to understand why he can’t love himself in a way. The lyrics definitely get me on this one with how relatable they are. “My reflection just won’t smile back at me like a I know it should. And I would turn into a stranger in an instant if I could.” and “It's been so long that I'm forgetting what it feels like, but I'd rather not remind myself and leave it all behind. And I've tried so hard to fix it all, but nothing seems to help. But I cannot hope to give you what I cannot give myself.” Always get me in my feels 😭 then again sleep token just does that regardless haha
This song is Vessel looking at himself in a mirror and wondering if he will ever love himself. I love this song so much…I designed a tattoo around these lyrics and put it on myself♥️
I usually don't care about artistic awards buuuuuut Sleep Token’s 'Take Me Back to Eden' is nominated for 2024 Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Album of the Year.
@@taconoodle88 I'm not sure if ST fell in BBMAs eligibility 12-month period or not. I read they can adjust the eligibility dates. I know BBMAs uses hard data such as album sales, streaming data, radio airplay, touring revenue and social engagements to determine the winners unlike the Grammy's where members vote.
Word of suggestion. You are getting close to the end. You may want to listen to The Night Does Not Belong to God just before Euclid. It is the beginning and ending of a trilogy. You may enjoy it much more.
Chill. Just let them experience it as it is. You can't give them years of getting used to Sundowning in a short time. They listened to it, that's fine.
@@justinblincoln maybe hes just asking them to listen to it (not react to it) again before listening to Euclid. I agree that people should just let them enjoy this music however they want to, but I understand what the guy was saying and think listening to it on their own could potentially enhance the impact of that song, but tbh its such a great song it hits like a truck anyway. I personally feel like transitioning from Take Me Back to Eden into Euclid is just perfect.
He says: Do you wish that you loved me? (Smile. Back.) Do you wish that you loved me? (At. Me.) Do you wish that you loved me? (Oh woah.) Do you wish that you loved me? (Please.)
I love this song. It gives me an almost Twenty One Pilots feeling its also a message that resonates where its like trying to talk to yourself, "Do you wish that you loved me? Why dont you? Why did we get here? How can we get to where we want to be?"
Beautiful song and beautiful reaction ladies, this song is vessel looking at himself in the mirror trying to find self love, which is something myself and a lot of us have dealt with...Worship 🙏
If you have ever loved someone unilaterally from a distance, you always pray that that person would just..."smile back....at me.....please..." And they never do
"Our verses are a token, crafted to magnify and embody the multitude of emotion that writhes in our subconscious. Sonically our voice is rooted in the resonation between the notes and your emotion. Take our hand" Sleep Token
Just the perfect demonstration of how you can't box ST into a single genre. A great great track with some fabulous lyrics in there. I'm off to the London ritual on Friday and to say I'm excited is a *massive* understatement. #worship
What a great catch Dallas, about II's drumming following the vocals.. He's said that in his interview: "Most, if not, all of the time, I try to pay close attention to the vocals and figure out any specific syllables, that can benefit from accents on the kit. I, sometimes, use the vocal line as a guide of sorts to dance in between, what's being sung to."
When I first heard this album I was not a fan of this song or Vore. Which now I look back and find it so silly that I felt that way. Now I look forward to either showing up in my ST playlist shuffle.
This is one of my wife's favorite. Btw I think maybe having the lyrics pulled up could be good for reminding you some of the points you have, Andrea. Is it something y'all have considered before? There's a reaction channel that does it now on the regular that I follow but for the longest time they didn't. Always glad to see Sleep Token reactions from you two!!!
We should probably try to have the lyrics up. It’s just hard because then I feel like I’m distracted with reading the lyrics instead of really putting my full attention into the song. 😊-D
Morning yall 😊. Love this one so much but I gotta say My FAVORITE SLEEP TOKEN SONG IS RAIN. So yep I'm excited for next Monday. I agree with those who suggest to listen to The Night Does not Belong to God before the end.....❤ Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving yall 🦃
This songs meaning does seem to have to community split with its meaning. I do beileve the theory that this is vessel talking to himself in a mirror so to speak. A conversation with himself almost.
This song is sorta "Pop" to me. Just goes to show you how talented Veasel really is. He can do any genre and makes it sound good. This is my least favorite because if the pop element. But I love all his vocal runs he does in the background of this one. His voice is just sooooo good. Can't wait for Rain!! 😊 Worship ❤
Vessel- was visited in a dream by an ancient deity" that he refers to as Sleep" due to its actual name being impossible to pronounce by modern humans. Sleep" has always existed and is responsible for giving humans dreams and nightmares. Sleep" promised Vessel- glory and magnificence if he followed him/her. Sleep" gives Vessel- dreams and visions, both beautiful and glorious as well as horrific nightmares. All of the songs deal with Vessel's- struggle with this toxic relationship with this deity" that he can only access in his dreams. The songs can also be interpreted as a toxic relationship that Vessel- had with a past partner and all of the fallot from this traumatic experience. Its entirely your discretion how you interpret the songs.
Out of all the songs that I've listened to from ST, this is probably my least favorite. I'm not saying that I dont like it, because I definitely do, but it just doesnt hit me like all the others do.

Totally agree with this comment. Also wanted to add I think he says (delete) as well in that section^^

It absolutely should be! Phenomenal album!! We aren’t even done with the album yet and I’m already upset it’s almost over! 😭-D
Interesting cause this album came out in 2023 😂

This is a song Vessel wrote to himself. Lyrically Perfect. I wish I could write like him lol
Came up at the right time, off to see Sleep Token for the first time tonight in Glasgow! Can’t wait! ☺️
Hope you have a blast at the ritual!! It’s a lot of fun! Very intense.
That’s going to an amazing experience! Enjoy it! 😊-D

Just got back from a Sleep Token gig at Co-op Live Manchester UK . They were amazing live . One of the best I’ve been to and what an arena too !
I’d like to think that vessel is looking in a mirror singing this song.. it makes so much sense thinking that way.
Only way I ever interpreted it too!

Definitely one of the sleeper songs on this album!
Heaviest song on the album 😉
