- Come on this motorcycle drag racing journey as we take you behind the scenes in the Pro Stock Motorcycle and Top Fuel Harley classes at the 2021 NHRA Gatornationals from Gainesville Raceway. The big stories are Vance & Hines new 4 valve engine, Angelle Sampey running the first 200 mph Pro Stock Motorcycle Suzuki pass, the nitro Harleys struggling to get down the race track and gain footing in the organization and lots more.

200mph in a 1/4 of a mile from a standing start is phenomenal i race superbikes i can reach 210mph on my s1000rr racebike with gearing set right it has 235hp and is an absolute rocket but im only doing about 140mph at the 1/4 mile i need about double that distance to get to my top speed.......and i though i rode one of the fastest accelerating things in the world 😂😂

@@cycledrag it would be awesome to watch each round of eliminations!! It’s a tie on favorite riders! Growing up I loved watching Bill Furr because of his awesome American flag paint! Tak because he’s so humble, he comes here kicks everyone’s ass for a race or two and then heads back home! I saw a video 15 or so years ago where he had a passenger on his fuel bike but I can’t seem to find it nowadays! Dad and I cheer on Rich Vreelands as well! Great person all around and he’s from our town!

the atmospheric pressure is still 14.7 psi at sea level. this is now a race of who has the most valves to move the most air through their intake ports . and since all production big twin and adventure bike harley-davidsons come stock with four valves per cylinder but not allowed in pro stock ? so in reality you have 16 valves vs 4 = one big shit show
Top fuel Harley has been around a lot longer then pro stock.... as usual the NHRA IS INEPT!

Big fan of all things 2 wheel drag racing but have always preferred the scream of the Suzukis over the ugly drone that the V twins let out.

Larry Spiderman McBride is fearless and definetly first cycle dragster racer got me interested in sport. I respect all drag racers. Love competition but also comraderie between teams, racers and mechanics. Anxious to see younger talent learning from and filling shoes. The bikes look awesome. Look forward to next race.

Hopefully some triple cylinder engines will be developed and bring in MV Augusta, Triumph and Yamaha based entries will be in it with displacement and weight allowances!
The problem with the top fuel Harleys is, they RARELY make a duel full power pass. One or the other of them breaks before the finish line.

The answer to the big question regarding the future of fuel bikes in NHRA is to simply monitor the crowd at The U.S. Nationals when the fuel bikes come up to run. I would say that if McBride and Vantine come to the waterbox and the fans stay put great but if the hottest drag bikes in the world can't keep the bleachers from emptying out to the concession stands then i don't think the fuel bikes stand a chance in NHRA.

Great show Jack. I think Matt Smith doest complain too much (to paraphrase the Bard) Also, Top fuel/nitro bikes are the gas, but why refer to them as Harleys. These are big Vee Twins and just as people are building in line fours that may have been patterned on Suzuki or Kawasaki engines. there are other Vee twins out there. Ducati have made their twins fast through innovative valve trains, maybe the big twins might find a new way to increase their rev range. What about some of the big Triumph parallel twins or the Suzuki twins, their must be further development potential, Lastly, Ive not seen anyone using the Longitudinal triple in the Triumph. Its one huge engine. Or the Yamaha Vmax? This might be old news but is there a reason why there isn't more diversity?

Well, first of all NHRA is a car centric orginisation. Fans are fickle. I love bikes and own a few myself but the mass appeal is not as great for bikes. Although a full field of nitro bikes would be great. I don't know if mixing the T/F Harleys and inline 4 fuel bikes would work. I think figuring out handi capping to pit a T/F Harley against an inline 4 fueler would be problematic. Ideally a corporate series sponsor would be a Godsend and is sorely needed. The question is who would be that sponsor? I think it has to be a bike manufacturer. I think those are the deep pockets. Or a conglomeration of aftermarket entities like EBC, Avon, Cerriani, S&S...etc.

It used to be Andrew Hines. Since Harley Davidson got out of NHRA Pro Stock racing. I really don't have anyone. I do like the Nitro Harley Davidson series. They run speeds faster than Pro Stock Cars. Those guys have balls. I am disappointed in HD, however I understand their circumstances.
Drag racing and MMA the only two sports worth watching. Because Nobody kneels for the National Anthem.
The only way I would come to these races is only if harley was in it bottom line

Jack here is an opportunity for you and cycle drag to explode into the world of drag racing by becoming a sponsor for the Top Fuel bike class or go in as a co-sponsor that maybe you could talk to other people you know to get into doing this and right now those Top Fuel teams are showing their willing to travel... Also the Majority of the Fans Absolutely want to see the Top Fuel Bikes also, even if they are die Hard Funny Car and Top Fuel dragster fans along with any of the other classes and these are the same people that go out on Monday and not just shop the car lots but they also shop the bike dealerships and buy these products but I really think if you can pull it off this would be a hell of an opportunity for you and Cycle Drag but right now I would say it would be probably The best investment in the NHRA and that organization is the top of the ladder for recognition everywhere

Nitro Burnin Harley guys look like they're a little rough around the edges and they're a real blue collar crew. That probably rubs some of the snobby NHRA promoters the wrong way and they are on hyper alert against anyone tarnishing their image.

Harley Davidson...love the bike , I own one . But have a strong...disli...hatred for the company . Just a small reason , one of many , they completely ignore the bikers who kept them alive when a brand-new bike still on the showroom would have a drip pan under it . But like everything else in America just say fuck it .
