Looks like it's Fran Brown. I originally wanted to shoot for Sheronne Moore. But Brown might be much better. I'm loving this pick!

David Walker is another guy that comes to mind.

Keep in mind that head coach is a different job than offensive or defensive coordinator or a position coach. Scot Shafer was a fine defensive coordinator but was promoted into a position he wasn't as good at. The fact that somebody is a great line coach or offensive coordinator doesn't mean we'll have great lines or offensive schemes with them because he'll hire someone else to do those jobs. Also a defensive guy isn't going to ignore offense. Rather, he'll have to hire a good offensive guy and he's more likely to let him do what he wants with the offense without meddling while the defensive guy concerns himself more with the defense. I'd rather have a guy who has been a head coach at this level, had coached in the northeast and also had experience coaching in the south, where we need to recruit. To me that's Dan Mullen or Al Golden.

Jordan Hogan, currently on a NFL staff and a Newfane native is another guy to consider.

He would be a great coach at Syracuse he recruits the northeast already and keep Nunzio who is a very good coach

If he can win Saturday and the bowl game, how about Nunzio Campanile?

I really don’t want Chesney. Moving from FCS to a Power 5 school is a massive leap. While I think he's a good coach, we can't be certain if he can even succeed in the MAC, let alone the ACC. If they choose him, it suggests they didn’t want to invest in a more established coach. If my concerns prove unfounded and he excels here, then you can say I told you so.

Not understanding the constant underlining of the "ties to the east" concept. Yes, we routinely recruit those areas, but the successful coaches are recruiting all over the country. NY especially isn't brimming with D1 football talent. Mullen routinely had top 15 recruiting classes and you're not winning without players. Understanding of the portal and NIL are likely more important concepts in today's college game. I Like Chesney's ability to build, but hesitant to see him attempt it at this level. As for Lewis, White and Marrone, they left for what they felt were "better" opportunities - let's avoid any of them. Neither David Walker nor Mike Hart has head coaching experience - no thanks. Would also think avoiding another MAC coach would be advisable as the last one spent 7 of the 8 years spinning his wheels. Finally, any coach can connect the alumni to the program. It doesn't take a former player to accomplish that. Still not sure why Dino never embraced the program's alumni.

I’ll throw out Mike Hart and Mark Ferrante, two Syracuse natives that have a good coaching pedigree.

Chesney feels like Dino 2.0 to me. Kinda corny/overly positive personality, had a great QB at Holy Cross -- am very skeptical of hiring somebody who won games with a QB running for 100+ yards every game -- that's not going to happen here.

Seems like Chesney has established longer consistency at Holy Cross than Dino… Dino won at Bowling Green and East Illinois but he was only there for 2 years. He won with players who were already there… Dino did come from MAC which is better than Patriot League.

@@Teeman44 I'm a Patriot League guy..........Its small time......Come on........Syracuse can do much better than that........Look at the coaches from Toledo and Eastern Michigan in MAC........they would be outstanding.......Syracuse can't compete with big guyz in football. Fine........Just make a bowl and concentrate on Olympic sports..........Basketball, lacrosse, etc.........and academics!!!!!
