Glad it was helpful! It's super easy and def low maintenance if you have about an hour to spare every 4 weeks. And you can do this in the privacy of your own home vs hassling with going to the salon.

I finally stopped coloring my hair during the pandemic due to irritation to my scalp. It was difficult and I almost gave up but got through the growing out stage and couldn’t be happier and my hair is so healthy and I have people stop me and make comments on how beautiful my hair is. At almost 64 I could not be happier but you will know when it is the right rime for you.
Put a thin layer of Vaseline along your hairline before coloring. Or before shampooing, massage the color that’s in the roots of your hair into your skin where it’s stained. Color gets out color. ❤
I use to use Loreal however I started noticing that thinning spots above my ears. The harsh chemicals burned my scalp & around my hairline as I was only trying to do some front highlights. If your scalp gets burned, your scalp will actually build upp scarring & your hair won't grow. For the past few yrs, I've been mixing my own color from Sallys Beauty Supply. I purchase demi Ion Intense Shine & mix it with equal part of 10 volume Ion for sensitive scalp. It works wonders! No more irritation to my scalp & the colors have a really nice shine.

Very pretty color. And I love the story of how you and your husband met. I am 67 and have been doing my own hair since I was 51. I have never used store bought dye, though it looks beautiful on some. I always use a dye box and separate peroxide. I mix in glass bowl and paint my roots with a brush. Because I also highlight my own hair I have better control as to how far I go down the hair. I have never ran the root color all through my hair. A tip I just saw a few months ago and have been implementing, after coloring my roots, I will put a conditioner through the rest of my hair that is processing. I have found not only does the dye not darken the length and ends after I wash the color out, but it also conditions at the same time. Another thing I find helpful I always start with my part and hairline first and when I've finished coloring I will hit the hairline one more time. It seems to be the most resistant to color. I'm glad you did this video. So many are afraid to do their own hair and you may have given someone the courage to start and save a lot of money! Love your helpful videos and your short videos also.❤
Oh that's a great tip. I actually do that sometimes before I color. But since it had been a few days since I'd washed, I had lots of hair oils on it to prevent the porosity. When I freshly had my hair balyaged at the salon, best believe I piled on oils and conditioners to prevent even a drop of coloring from touching it haha!🤪
Your hair looks beautiful Sheri! Part of my age is accepting my gray hair...lol I wish it would come in a beautiful silver! However, it's dispersed like highlights through out my head....😊❤
I don't know why I never like the shampoo and conditioner that comes inside hair color boxes. I give them away LOL I think it's the scent I'm not a huge fan of. 🤪
Sheri, your Natural Hair color looks gorgeous. You would look beautiful, you look beautiful regardless, just saying 😊 oh, off the subject but Iam loving the Skinmedica TNS Setum and Cannot wait to get the Osmosis Catalyst and their mist. Thank you for encouraging me to get these skincare products.
You color hari like I do. I only put on my roots :) I have the Loreal excellence in my closet. I'll have to take it out and try it. I was finishing up using a natural hair color from Korea. I like it but I thought its not good because i doe snot last. But since you said you color your hair every three weeks, then it s not so bad then. Gone are the days when my color would last for a couple of months. My hair would grow but I didn't have to deal with gray hair all the time. Thank you. Glad you all got married. Amen!
I was looking for this product today to try out, to change it up from my regular Clairol ammonia free brand , and I noticed they have an ammonia free brand in this one too!! 😀 It’s called Universal Nudes Loreal Excellence cream ammonia free. I got 5N Natural Brown. Hope I like it, cuz then I’ll switch. I like that it has the shampoo and an after conditioner as well 👌🏻 So happy I found this in ammonia free
Years ago I started using Greens Plus. After about two months of taking it I noticed my hair started going back to it’s natural colour. My brother-in-law noticed his grey disappearing while taking it too. I had started to go grey at 17. I was 30 when I started on the Greens Plus.
Yes isn't that neat how certain supplements can change back your color. Some root serums I have used in the past made my hair grow in brown again but I'm not sure what Ingredient in them does that. 💗
It was like I was watching myself in a mirror! I, too, color my hair every 3 wks like clockwork. My grays are very resistant and my stylist gave me a couple of coloring hacks. Apply the color and put end papers on top of the areas that are resistant - mine are along my part and my temples. The end papers keep the color applied directly on the hair and works so much better! And since I want to deposit color on my grays and not lighten the base color (since it's already gray!) no need to use what's usually used in box colors, the 20 volume developer. I go to Sally's and buy 10 volume which works better for what I want it to do. So I replace the developer in the bottle from the box dye with the 10 volume and proceed as usual. It's been working like a dream! Great video! And I love the stories of how you met your hubby! I, too, met mine online! We got married in Vegas and we're still going strong 17 years later!!
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri So I've been using the Revlon ColorSilk for decades at this point. On the side of the box it gives examples of how much 'lift' you can get from darker shades to the color I use, Light Auburn. The 20 volume developer will 'lift' a darker shade to get it as close as possible to the Light Auburn shade. But if I'm not lifting a dark hair color (since what I'm applying the color to is white/gray) the 20 volume really isn't doing much good. If I just want to deposit the color onto the grays, the 10 volume developer is supposed to do that better. She's a master colorist so I trust her - and God love her for giving me tips on doing it myself and not just having me come back in to get my $$! It's cheap enough to do an experiment to see if it works for you. I get the big 32oz bottle and it costs less than $10 at Sally's. I've been doing this for at least a decade since I've been going to her for about 12 years now since I moved to Florida!
I love the funny stories while during your hair. I’m in real estate in California and I’m also a short sale expert and worked/work my ass of. What is the biolage? (Spelling)
Your hair has always been beautiful Sheri, I’ll just get my regrowth done at my hair stylist every 4 weeks, I can never find the exact same colour with those boxed hair colours, I tried it once and I ended up with really dark hair and I had to use two boxes to do my regrowth and when I worked out the cost of purchasing the two boxes, it wasn’t saving me much at all, I’m pretty lucky with my hair stylist, she doesn’t charge me that much to have my hair done monthly. Are you back on the cruise ship once again, if so, where are you two love birds off to next, I loved hearing the story about your now husband, he really seems a great guy and someone who has a sense of humour also. Looking Beautiful 😍 as always and how could he not fall for You at first sight. ❤️❤️
Yes that works great too. If I wipe it off within a couple minutes, I never need to do that extra step but I prefer when they do at a salon because I know they will make a mess on my face Haha!
I loved the L’Oréal Excellence formula too, but stopped coloring my hair about 3 years ago. My gray is coming in salt and pepper mix, so I still have a lot of my brunette. Pretty lucky at 66, but sometimes I wish it was more gray. lol.
I hear of people getting it all gray at the salon when they don't want to wait. Not sure how. Maybe they do bleach and then re-deposit the gray color but not real sure. 💗
My husband constantly has color on his neck, ears and he doesn’t care🥴🥴Your dye application looks effortless, thank you, it was very relaxing watching you.
Thank you. Yes, I have but the curls look weird...some pieces are straight, others curly/wavy. Just looks messy. Then the next day, it is super frizzy. LOL I naturally have straight hair BUT since my hair is now mostly gray, it has turned wirey, wavy and coarse. 🤗
Hi Sheri, I would love to know what you think of the Olaplex oil compared to the Kerastase oil? I’ve been using the Kerastase oil for years and have yet to try the Olaplex one.
which one? the elixir? they have a lot of hair oils. I do like many kerastase products a lot but I didn't love the elixir on my hair for a leave in...a bit too heavy for me. Olaplex is super light and creates more shine on my hair. I used up the elixir by mixing it with my deep conditioner like they once did in a hair salon and it worked nicely that way when I rinsed it out. 💜
Love your video!! I usually put some Vaseline on the edge of my face and neck prior to dying my hair and when the dripping comes down I just wipe it off clean ❤
That works great too. If I wipe the color off quickly enough though I never need to use the Vaseline. But definitely a good idea if you don't want it to stain.
Yes I used that for a long time. For my hair the Olaplex oil blows the Orilbe oit of the water. BUT I do love a few Oribe products and the scent of Oribe is YUMMMMM!
It is soooo not worth the price tag. If I had straight hair then I might love it. It's fun to use when making the curls but then they fall flat unlike my $30 curling iron curls. Definitely not worth the hype for me.
I do my own payed to have it done once had missed spots so had to do it over and I only do the roots ,use argon oil after I blow dry people always ask me why my hair looks so shiny !funny fact my husband trims my hair I am afraid of hairdressers with happy scissors had so many bad haircuts
Is that brand ammonia free ? I use the Clairol root touch up natural instincts , and it’s ammonia free. Even tho I only use the for roots it HAD to be ammonia free
Not yet but I plan to eventually and see if the hype is real. I tried their products many years ago and they were nice but nothing mind-blowing. So will be interesting to see the neck cream results.
@therealsandraweise Can you please explain how you dye the roots of your hair while in a ponytail? I've never heard of this technique, and I need to explore this if it is easier. It takes me so long to apply hair dye.
You "can" put color all over but if you already have darker hair from coloring, you can't put light color over it. The color has to be pulled out of it 1st, then new color over it (like with bleach). That's why I had balyage to gently make the rest look lighter. But if you are putting dark color on dark hair, sure put it all over if needed. I only do the roots because I'm just blending the new growth with the rest and don't want to change the color on the rest. Hope that makes sense. And I hope I understood your question properly 💗🤗
What about natural herbs like henna. Henna is natural and great for coving greys. People act like they have to be in either one of two camps, grey hair or chemical dyed hair.
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Oh see that is what I love about henna because it makes my hair so dark. But I have naturally dark brown hair with only a few grays, but henna is just so good for hair.
It's a fabulous product but I ran out of it almost 4 months ago. I'm not able to test new things if I keep using my faves LOL but I will eventually buy it again.
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Thanks for the update! I’ve been using the Virtue Density Serum for a little over a week now, not sure if it's too early to tell, but I've noticed that my hair gap is getting better. Plus, after shampooing, my hair shedding has decreased!
Funny story. I actually get my hair colored at the Paul Mitchell product development center in my town. Completely free. They do test products on my hair.last time, it was a new shampoo.
There are some supplements that help block gray hair BUT extra copper makes my melasma darker😭 so I take zinc picolinate to help block extra copper. Thorne has great supplements though. 💗
How often did you wash your scalp/hair? I've been using these sprays (and sometimes powders) for 20 years BUT I wash my hair/scalp very often when I use them. If you leave them on too many days without cleansing (that includes dry shampoos, powders etc) it can cause build-up and clog the follicles which will encourage fall out. So definitely make sure you cleanse your scalp every couple days when using. 🤗 They really should mention that on the products so people don't spray them on and leave them for days or a week etc. Also some of the sprays are just terrible for the scalp. Loreal makes my scalp itch and is very drying but the ones I use never cause issues. But again, I wash my scalp at least every other day if I use them. Hope that helps. 🌸
Hair color should be added to clean hair/clean roots. There is a misconception that you should color dirty/greasy hair to protect it. You are not protecting it especially if you are only doing mostly roots. What you are doing is applying fish hair color to oil at the roots - the oil blocks the color from absorbing.
Funny you say that, my old hairdressers used to say apply on dirty hair and my last hair gal told me that is so not true. But I will color my own hair (roots only) on clean or dirty hair (by dirty, maybe just day 2 hair but not a week or anything) but it takes just as well on clean and day 2 hair for me. But my hair gal said people would literally come in with super dirty and greasy hair because they used to say that LOL.

I got 5N Natural Brown.
Hope I like it, cuz then I’ll switch.
I like that it has the shampoo and an after conditioner as well 👌🏻
So happy I found this in ammonia free
Years ago I started using Greens Plus. After about two months of taking it I noticed my hair started going back to it’s natural colour. My brother-in-law noticed his grey disappearing while taking it too. I had started to go grey at 17. I was 30 when I started on the Greens Plus.
Yes isn't that neat how certain supplements can change back your color. Some root serums I have used in the past made my hair grow in brown again but I'm not sure what Ingredient in them does that. 💗
Gorgeous! 😍
Thank you! 😊
Oh wow those are great tips! So explain more about the difference between the developer and what exactly it does differently (10 vs 20)
(Spelling)
It's a tough job but worth it especially when clients can finally "breathe" 💚
What is the name of the brush 😊
You made that look easy! Pretty
Hi Nellie, not on a ship right now, helping out my Mother in Law for a few months in the USA.
Aquaphor/Vaseline on the hairline and around the ears since I’m a total klutz with the color. :)
Pretty lucky at 66, but sometimes I wish it was more gray. lol.
I think grey hair is so stylish!
I hear of people getting it all gray at the salon when they don't want to wait. Not sure how. Maybe they do bleach and then re-deposit the gray color but not real sure. 💗
Thanks for sharing funny stories of how you met your husband!
Thanks for watching 💗
My husband constantly has color on his neck, ears and he doesn’t care🥴🥴Your dye application looks effortless, thank you, it was very relaxing watching you.
What a funny story. I love this channel and how you are very mindful of costs when it comes to beauty.
This was a great video. Thanks For updating on howYou met your husband. Love your products too! Thanks! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Hi Sheri, great tips.. Your stories were funny. Take Care
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 💗
I’ve been colouring my own hair for YEARS, I use the same brand. I mix 2 colours to get the colour I want.
Great idea.
That olaplex oil is fantastic. I been using it for a couple of years.
It's sooooo good. 💗
Great first date stories! Have you ever put a little mousse in your hair and let it dry naturally or diffuse? You have pretty wave in your hair 💕
Thank you. Yes, I have but the curls look weird...some pieces are straight, others curly/wavy. Just looks messy. Then the next day, it is super frizzy. LOL I naturally have straight hair BUT since my hair is now mostly gray, it has turned wirey, wavy and coarse. 🤗
Love this video. Your hair is sooo long. Beautiful ❤
Thank you!
is your hair all silver? i think you would look heavenly with silver hair
I'd say 75% all silver. Some spots in the back still grow in brown.
Exactly how I do my colour 👍
Hi Sheri, I would love to know what you think of the Olaplex oil compared to the Kerastase oil? I’ve been using the Kerastase oil for years and have yet to try the Olaplex one.
which one? the elixir? they have a lot of hair oils. I do like many kerastase products a lot but I didn't love the elixir on my hair for a leave in...a bit too heavy for me. Olaplex is super light and creates more shine on my hair. I used up the elixir by mixing it with my deep conditioner like they once did in a hair salon and it worked nicely that way when I rinsed it out. 💜
Yes, the elixir ultime. Thanks for giving me your feedback. I will check out the Olaplex one. 💜
I love ur channel so much! It’s taught me a lot and that laugh😂 u brighten my day so much 😊ur hair is beautiful thank you 🐶🙏❤️
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that.
Have You tried the Oribe hair oil? Amazing. It’s much better for me than the Ola Plex.
Yes I used that for a long time. For my hair the Olaplex oil blows the Orilbe oit of the water. BUT I do love a few Oribe products and the scent of Oribe is YUMMMMM!
I am so glad I did not spend my money on the Dyson blow dryer when I wanted to..! Its ridiculous price refrained me everytime I wanted to try it...
It is soooo not worth the price tag. If I had straight hair then I might love it. It's fun to use when making the curls but then they fall flat unlike my $30 curling iron curls. Definitely not worth the hype for me.
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Thanks for your time making this video..!💗
I do my own payed to have it done once had missed spots so had to do it over and I only do the roots ,use argon oil after I blow dry people always ask me why my hair looks so shiny !funny fact my husband trims my hair I am afraid of hairdressers with happy scissors had so many bad haircuts
I was hoping you would do this this hair video!... I was wondering how you did the back..Boy! do I need practice😂
You can do it!💗
Is that brand ammonia free ?
I use the Clairol root touch up natural instincts , and it’s ammonia free.
Even tho I only use the for roots it HAD to be ammonia free
I like to color my angel highlights too! That's what my husband calls gray hair😜
Love that!
I grew out my grey and hated it. It was so mousy and uneven. I got it cut short last week and dyed it a medium ash blonde. I’m much happier.
I'm glad you did what made you happy and feel your best.🤗 It always feels great having a hair cut too.
My gray hair is at the front, too. Question: What type of gray cover spray do you use?
She has all her hair products linked.
Style Edit Light Brown is my current fave. 💗
I loved this video
Glad to hear that. Thank you!!! 💗
Love to you sister!✝️😘❤️
💜
Have you tried the Go Pure Neck cream yet? I was wondering what your opinion was.
Not yet but I plan to eventually and see if the hype is real. I tried their products many years ago and they were nice but nothing mind-blowing. So will be interesting to see the neck cream results.
how do u feel about the Madiaon Reed box color? Trying to buy the best box version as I usually go to salon.
The best tip is to put in a super loose pony tail to flip the sections. It's magic!
That works too. 💕
@therealsandraweise Can you please explain how you dye the roots of your hair while in a ponytail? I've never heard of this technique, and I need to explore this if it is easier. It takes me so long to apply hair dye.
Loved this! What if you wanted to do the whole head? To change the color. Because mine is darker.

Thank you 💕
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you!💕
What about natural herbs like henna. Henna is natural and great for coving greys. People act like they have to be in either one of two camps, grey hair or chemical dyed hair.
I tried henna, didn't like it and made my hair too dark. 💜
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Oh see that is what I love about henna because it makes my hair so dark. But I have naturally dark brown hair with only a few grays, but henna is just so good for hair.
Hi Sherry!
Have you try revitalash hair serum?
Gorgeous!!!! 😉
Thank you! 😊
13:58 😮 What happened to the Virtue density serum? I bought it because one of your previous videos lol
Oh wow, that's awesome. I didn't know they did hair for free. Thanks for sharing that. 💗
I'm not a colorist but I wonder of going blonder would be easier to hide the grey than staying brunette?
You silver is pretty...I think you would look stunning in all silver!
Oh thank you!💜
A good high quality prenatal vitamin that contains
copper will help your hair from going gray.
Now Foods brand or Thorne etc..
If the bottle says take 2 or 3 capsules, I just take 1 capsule. I’m 56 & have been taking it for 4 years.
There are some supplements that help block gray hair BUT extra copper makes my melasma darker😭 so I take zinc picolinate to help block extra copper. Thorne has great supplements though. 💗
I am over due to color my hair too! I enjoyed the dating stories with your husband. I laughed with you. Hugs ❤
Thank you Vanessa! Glad you enjoyed it. 💜
I used those root touchup sprays and after a few years my hair fell out on my part line where I sprayed it. Don’t use those. A powder would be better
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri I washed my hair daily or every 2 days. I haven’t used them for 6 years now. I used the one by L’Oreal
My hair has that amount of growth in two weeks especially in the summer I live in California
It's nice having hair that grows fast but it can be a hassle sometimes. 💜
You are adorable ❤
Years ago, I discovered that I couldn’t handle a lip wax either because it would break me out afterwards. 😖
shaving is so much easier and when I do it myself, I KNOW everything is clean. Lesson learned LOL
Hair is like gardening ... weeding is futile lol
LOL
I sent you a message. I hope you got it?
Why not just embrace the grey. It’s beautiful
I do embrace it.....and then I put hair dye over it for extra love 🤪💕
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri love your reply. 🩷🩷
