Thank you!!! I've been disassembling the cartridge then winding it on by hand for a couple of years lol. Today I was angry enough to do a google search and I've never been so happy to be proven wrong!!
Thanks for this, we just bought this model from the local stihl shop and the instructions that came with it didn't even explain this. The instructions was telling me that I had to take the head off...
Thanks alot! Have been using the thing for years but never had to change the wire myself. Did it in 5 minutes first time using this video with pauses...will head to trim the countryside home surrounding. All the best from estonia!
Thank you for such a clear, concise, well-done tutorial. Quite helpful. The music was too loud and a distraction, making it hard to hear the instructions, but I prevailed😊
excellent video with clear instructions with good lighting. The only deduction is the music was a bit loud.. maybe just at the start and then when he gives instructions no music at all. Would be better for hearing impared people as well. Thanks so much helped me load this thing.
10 years after buying this trimmer I've only just learnt about keeping the line moist.. fuck I've had some dummy spits over the years due to line snapping off minutes after loading the head 🤣🤣🤣
Great video, I had always precut the string and it has almost always been annoying to do. This worked great thanks. Not sure if anyone has mentioned the music volume...🎸😉
Man I have to say at 63 I really thought ... NO PROBLEM...YES BIG PROBLEM. Thank-You sir what a relief 1 2 3 Done . Goes to show even the old dogs need help. Well this one anyways.
Nice video. I brought my whippersnipper around 5 years ago now also brought a whole heap of line and the polyester blades. All my line is gone and our local still shop is no longer there. The local hardware store sells aftermarket lines. What size do I get I've thrown all my old packaging away? Thanks
I have the new head which was sold to me as the easy option just stick the cord through the hole and wind it on. I can’t get it to run out when operating.
I have an older model of the FS45. What is the part number for the line head in your video and will it fit my unit? Will a FS38 head fit? Would like to go to the easy feed type unit in your video.
Music is unnecessary and way too loud. Why wasn't that corrected before uploading, and why hasn't it been edited since. thanks for the information and for keeping it brief. Some of these are 12 minutes long.
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
I have a hearing problem at the best of times. The accompanying music was extremely distracting making it difficult to hear and comprehend the commentary.
If you turn up the music just a bit more you'll be able to completely drown out the narrator instead of only partially accomplishing that. I assume that's the goal.
This looks like it would've been a very helpful video but I can't watch it. The background music is deafening. Can't even concentrate on what he's saying!
Thank you!!! I've been disassembling the cartridge then winding it on by hand for a couple of years lol. Today I was angry enough to do a google search and I've never been so happy to be proven wrong!!
That because you didn’t read the instructions
@@RodSwansmadThat’s bro, super helpful!
Couldn't have asked for a more straight forward video thanks
cut the background music! Can't hardly hear you
🤣🤣
Agree. Its to loud
Thanks for this, we just bought this model from the local stihl shop and the instructions that came with it didn't even explain this. The instructions was telling me that I had to take the head off...
Great video, very helpful and straight forward. The music is a bit loud but you can turn the volume down and still hear the commentary.

Okay Karen
agree.... music too loud and distracts from video... but still good info.
@@hobosnachonothing wrong with respectful constructive criticism, Kevin.
Fantastic thanks - I inherited my father's FS 45 and did not know how to change the line. It still starts and runs great, so this has really helped.
excellent video with clear instructions with good lighting. The only deduction is the music was a bit loud.. maybe just at the start and then when he gives instructions no music at all. Would be better for hearing impared people as well. Thanks so much helped me load this thing.
You've taught me something new today, thank you so much
I'm so glad I watched this before I pulled the whole head apart and wound the line on manually haha Thanks Phil
Keeping the nylon moist will help it stay stronger. When the nylon is dry it is it becomes brittle and breaks easy.
How to keep itmorid
Thanks for sharing.
10 years after buying this trimmer I've only just learnt about keeping the line moist.. fuck I've had some dummy spits over the years due to line snapping off minutes after loading the head 🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant. Thank you! The manual mine came came with (same model) had different instructions and was far more fiddly. This makes more sense 👍🏻
Yay! This is much easier than cutting 2 pieces & winding it by hand!
Thank you so much for this great video!! Because of your knowledge and experience you make something that has always driven me crazy, a lot easier!
Great video, I had always precut the string and it has almost always been annoying to do. This worked great thanks.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned the music volume...🎸😉
I destroyed many a weed after this helpful video… I never would have thought that’s how it’s done. Cheers!
Great video! Very imformative. I will go load some line in my Stihl right now. Cheers
Very helpful - thank you. Just inherited one of these, and this makes loading it crystal clear.
Outstanding Phill. Cheers bro
Brilliantly simply explained. Thank you.
Very well done mate, thanks. The music may disappear to hear the you the "Dinky Di" Ozzie.
Thank you Micheal Caine! Saves me hours!
Thank you so much, sick of Bunnings crap, bought a second hand Stihl, ran out of cord and was stuck.
Man I have to say at 63 I really thought ... NO PROBLEM...YES BIG PROBLEM. Thank-You sir what a relief 1 2 3 Done . Goes to show even the old dogs need help. Well this one anyways.

OMG, I've been doing it all wrong lol. Thank you , i'm so glad I googled how to do it.
Why, oh why the loud background music? it breaks up and drowns out the commentary. What a waste of a good video.
Why do you keep the line moist? Thanks for the video help here!
After we wind up the line on the head,do we need to align the arrows again?
Thank you very much for this video! Most Helpful resource! Cheers!
THANKS FOR THE GREAT TUTORIAL, MAN!
That was so clear and easy! Thank you.
My new Stihl C50 won't release more line when I bump it. ??????? HELP
Hands down one of tbe best video how to do this 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Phil. Very helpful. And the background 🎶 suits the instruction.
You keep the whole nylon package under water for a few months?? This is the first time I hear about that. It makes it stronger?
I have the new head which was sold to me as the easy option just stick the cord through the hole and wind it on. I can’t get it to run out when operating.
I really appreciate this tutorial!
Hi it's Jamie how do you put thick trimmer line in the hole.
Xclnt demonstration. Easy to follow.
I have an older model of the FS45. What is the part number for the line head in your video and will it fit my unit? Will a FS38 head fit? Would like to go to the easy feed type unit in your video.
you're a gem, very easy to follow.. :)
Thank u for this ....worked a treat
Thanx so much this was easy to understand😁
Kia ora guys I have this grass trimmer and I love the trimmer
The trimmer i have is called FS 38 but this one is called FS 45
I think they mislabeled the model that i use
They added FS 38 instead of FS 45
I think they are two different models.

how many meters should be left hanging?
is it possible to reduce the music noise so one can understand what you are saying??
How does the head come off? 🤔
turn the center nut counter clockwise while holding the heada
Music is unnecessary and way too loud. Why wasn't that corrected before uploading, and why hasn't it been edited since. thanks for the information and for keeping it brief. Some of these are 12 minutes long.
This could be a good video if you didn't have the background music.
I had to stop looking at this. The background music is terrible and distracting.
Great video . Music is a little too loud though.
When I put my line in and try weed eat, the line doesn't stay in. It all comes out and tangles up. What am I doing wrong?
Great video but is that music really necessary?
Is there one I can watch without the music in the background?
Thought I left my Tommy Emmanuel on but it is this video
Awesome. That worked. Thankyou
As a single girl thank you so much xx
3 meters? Should that be three meters per side? 6 meters total?

Love this music video

music too loud in background
How to open the cover would have been very useful
h
Hold the head and turn the center piece counter-clockwise. If it doesn't come off easily, use a large slip-joint pliers to get it started.
Wonderful Video but the music is VERY Distracting and loud compared to your voice. Otherwise, I'd give it a thumbs up.
That's pretty cool
I love you Phil
couldn't tell if this was music or instructional video ?????
I have a hearing problem at the best of times. The accompanying music was extremely distracting making it difficult to hear and comprehend the commentary.
Informative....why does the damn music have to be so loud?
Yo this music is wayyyy too loud
Very good..
Thankx champ
Informative but the music while you were talking was too much.
And jeez, why all the beef with the music? Some people!
Sweet as bro
Thanks.
Thanks mate
What do you need music for, its drowning your voice out.
If you turn up the music just a bit more you'll be able to completely drown out the narrator instead of only partially accomplishing that. I assume that's the goal.
My head doesn’t look like that What The Hell
kill the music so we can hear you
Tried to do it this way once and all the line just came flicking out... I've obviously done something wrong..
Music is way too loud. Hard to hear the gentleman explaining the job.
Brilliant, but turn down the music please.
Yeah mute the music otherwise good
As others have said, please delete this video and upload it again but without the annoying guitar music.
music makes it hard to hear
Do you really need the bloody music? Otherwise very helpful.
This looks like it would've been a very helpful video but I can't watch it. The background music is deafening. Can't even concentrate on what he's saying!
The music doesnt belong here
