    They say it takes 70 years after you die for you to be forgotten. There is an old cemetery by my house that I often visit. There are many children that died in the early 1900s that no one visits. I clean their graves and bring them flowers and toys

      I think as long as somebody knows of them, remembers them and treasure their picture or personal belongings, they still live because they are not a nameless, faceless, forgotten soul.

      They say you die 2 deaths; when you die, and when you are forgotten. You are a wonderful human being for cleaning and caring for those children's graves.

      I visited this cemetery one night, years ago under a full moon. I remember seeing a teddy bear that had been placed at one of the children's graves, and being very moved by that. All these children buried in the ground in the middle of the woods, forgotten by time, and yet someone had thought to bring a toy to one of the graves. Perhaps it was you, or maybe it was someone else, but I thought it was really beautiful.

    Been there before. If you are fine tuned with your 6th sense, you can feel all the spirits there. They run into the woods away from you. They are afraid. It’s not creepy, it’s just populated. The energy there is not bad, it is very sad though. I would recommend checking it out, paying respects, and not provoking them. When I went, there were children’s hand prints on the back of our car. The scary part is that there was always someone inside the car at all times. I would be happy to show the pic if anyone is interested. Very creepy. Remember to be ware, not all spirits are friendly. DO NOT provoke them. God bless.

    Just a heads up, many of the stones read "Wm." which is a shortening of William. Another said "Jas." which is a shortening of James. Many older tombstones have this so they would have room to write the rest.
    Great videos as always!

    The stone that looks like a tree stump if characteristic of an organization called the Woodsman of the World. It was a "Moose Lodge" type of group that also had life insurance benefits. The offered burial stones to their members. I have started a photo collection each time I find one. Some are very elaborate.

    As someone who grew up in the area, it's extremely satisfying to see someone explore the old abandoned (rumor has it haunted, as well) Fallbrook cemetery. I was not expecting to see such a recent video walkthrough when I looked it up, considering a few years back I had heard they blocked it all off due to all the heavy vandalism... Such a shame.

    Always bring a small bright LED flashlight when reading old stones. Cast the light flat across the stone and the lettering pops right out.

    I started a headstone company years ago and have seen many of cemetery’s.. the fences are to keep cows, deer , ect from pooping on the stones 😮. Also when I see those really old dates .. what do it look like in 1880’s ? And how did they deliver and set the stones up ?? No gas engines, no “ cherry pickers” . Just brute strength and block n tackle.. horse n buggy Could you imagine hauling one of those big stones.. and the base on a old buck board ?? Crazy .. hard ass labor .. great show 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @dscobellusa
      @dscobellusa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Who will remember them??? Family genealogists like me. When I retire, I want to visit a lot of the graves of my ancestors and make sure they are in good repair. That should be fairly soon. Last year my hubby and I went to Maine and found his 1st and 2nd greats in a cemetery there. My hubby is only mildly interested in the family history, but actually seeing the graves family, which he knew well by name because of stories passed down in the family, really made an impact on him. Every person still lives as long as you know and remember them.

Would have been neat if you gave point of reference for getting to it, you mentioned you had to ask directions. The GPS coordinates show the road leading into it, but wasn't sure if its accurate on Google Maps. I want to go there this spring a start documenting the stones. Thank you again for the great tour and the video!! Good to see where I'm heading to.

The age looked like 70 years to me. 7:48- It looked like 1880. 11:32 - Mary I. Great find. I always enjoy your cemetery videos.

    If you are interested in seeing old graveyards, PLEASE READ THIS.
    So many old graves are losing the ability to read what is / was on the gravestone. It would be really great if we could come together to have small plaques made for each of them in order to help identify whose grave it is. I think whoever owns / manages the grave should have records on who is in each grave. I am sure some graves may be so old that there is no way to find out. However it would help preserve the info we can read and or find out about each grave, for future generations. I have no idea on the cost it would take to have a small plaque made. However if we came together as a community, I am sure donations and fundraisers could help cover the cost. Maybe starting with the older graves and posting info on where families could have plaques made for their loved ones, whom they visit. It's only a good idea if many people help to come together to make it happen. I am disabled and low income. However it is heartbreaking to see videos of older graves that are in such bad shape that they are falling apart and or hard to read.

A minute or so went by, and I get shoved away from the headstone. As I was running back to my dads truck I swear to god I heard a little boy laughing.
