@dennisbernhard3117 You could say that every upcoming gy deck (there's a lot). I don't understand why people are complaining about konami banning a toxic card like dweller.
@@MiscGaming08 Dweller was a problem in Tear format for example. It deserved the ban then. It absolutely doesn't now, at least in my opinion. But at least I'd debate about it. That's not my point however. My point is that this ban was absolutely a decision to push new product and not one for game balance.
Scythe limited to 1 is the treatment Beatrice had prior. Yes, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. However, this is like a warning shot….. most likely Scythe already bought the one way ticket to the forbidden section.
Scythe limited to 1 is like Beatrice limited to 1 or S:P semi-limited. They are only giving you a message that they are going to be hit harder on the next banlist. Very OCG-style though.
HI Josh, OCG jP player here. As a Ryzeal and Malice player, this ban it feels ok just because of dweller. Really that card should not exist from the time Being. They hitted more Ryzeal because was the really dominant deck. Malice they took 1 starter and allure is relatively an hit. Scythe dont makes any sense at all but well, it is what it is.
They can’t hit the Maliss cards directly because Maliss has a grand total of 9 starters. Maybe they could limit Chessy Cat? I don’t think that’s effective, but I also think limiting White Rabbit or Dormouse just kills the deck. Fwiw, I understand Josh dislikes the deck more than Ryzeal, but the deck with 15% meta representation does not necessarily need hits whereas the deck with 45% representation which is about to get support that lets it bring a hand loop into its combo definitely does.
Banlists are not just about the current format, but about the formats that they will bring about. You cannot just ban Ryzeal cards without considering the relative power boost other decks will get. Ryzeal is an exceedingly strong deck currently even with Ryzeal existing and will be relatively stronger in a post-reduced-power Ryzeal landscape. Yes we can hit Maliss, and they should be hit so that the following format is healthier. Maliss in particular is an especially unfun variety of deck to be the strongest because it is an oppressive, break-my-board styled deck which means any format dominated by it becomes even more coinflip-dependant.
@jasonhume8991 Have you played that much against Maliss? It is not at all like Mathmech and is nowhere near as wombo combo as you think. It is not only not impossible, but not exceedingly difficult to play into full Maliss endboards, because unlike Mathmech, they do not put up multiple negates, do not hand loop, and don’t play into the right board breakers as well. Just because it’s a cyberse deck doesn’t mean it’s the general cyberse slop garbage that we’re used to.
@@rushinshah9307 Simply because they let you play the game of YuGiOh without having 5 Omni-negates doesn't mean that their endboards are fun to play through nor is it something that you can just get through with 2 starters of your own *without* having also had to reduce the amount of gas in your deck to have the non-engine to constrain the endboard of the Maliss player. I am not saying that they would be T0 after Ryzeal hits, but they are, by a substantial margin, the 2nd best deck in the OCG. The OCG obviously also realizes this and limits Allure and Gold Sarc but those cards are a problem because of Maliss and it is silly to hurt non-meta strategies which an lean on those cards instead of just hitting the meta deck directly.
@@rushinshah9307 Not a 5 omni negate end board, but their disruptions came out of nowhere so your boardbreaker means nothing. They can negate 1 spell trap so you need like 1 lightning storm and 1 harpie feather to force the white binder out asap or they can just ban whatever you dump into graveyard. And those 2 cards not even good to start with, unless you play maliss/ryzeal/tenpai this format.
You can use bystial to force white binder out, yes. But they can still revive heart crypter and a red rabbit to set another disrupt trap, which came out of nowhere.
First of all, to clarify, I play both OCG & OCG Asian English Format. I will give a 6 out of 10 for this list. Reason: The Hits are just not at the bulls eye As 1208 (Alliance Insight) will be release next month at the OCG with bunch of graveyard trigger effect, it seems that abyss dweller is a preventive hit. In fact, we also feel that banning Abyss is not for hitting existing meta decks. (As Current Ryzeal decks has rarely put dweller to their Extra Deck due to No.41 is a better choice) Artifact Scythe is seems a Warning Shot (Yep, this is common for OCG). Similar cases may take reference to Beatrice, OCG was first give it limited to 1 and Banned at the next list. As current format, there are not many players will put multiple copies of Scythe because it simply was a brick when it draws from your deck. The hit of Gold Sarcophagus and Allure of Darkness are just simply Maliss consistency hit, As Maliss can activate its effect and special summon back to the field, which provides more link summon materials at almost no cost & Allure of Darkness are just simply let your opponent +3 Cards & without side effect, therefore both card is not that surprise for Limited to 1. (There might be a preventive hit at Gold Sarcophagus for Dragon Rulers as well, but it seems lower chances for it) Lastly for Maxx C For my point of view, since Tatical Try Deck is still at the selling cycle (both Supreme Darkness and Alliance Insight are still giving new support for Tatical Try Decks) and such deck is just only have 40 cards at the main deck, putting Maxx C to limited is just makes no sense, this will just only pissing off new players. For another point of my view that, Maxx C has actually rescue some of the cards that was banned at the TCG (i.e Appolosa & Borreload Savage Dragon) As technically, these cards requires multiple special summons, When Maxx C resolves, it literally limits your opponent to summon powerful negates as it lets you draw more cards. Which may result to easier break the board. And Mulcharmy are simply not the card needed to stop your opponent (Especially Fuwalos vs Maliss). I think that Maxx C will just keep into semi-limited for a while as it provides a balance between draw cards & powerful negates. Finally, friendly Reminder, Nyarus should not worth TCG player pay a lot for 3 copies as it simply just 3 bricks when against non Maliss Deck.
Only explanation for scythe is it’s a warning shot. I think the ocg/tcg putting floodgates to one instead of banning is so bad players can still have the chance to open them and auto win.
@Zarc-wi4wy Why do yall floodgate defenders assume every deck can just play around a flood willy nilly without a care in the world? If your deck is multi attributed with no in theme outs you are done for against Gozen.

Quoting a comment in the yugioh subreddit on why Scythe is only limited and not immediately banned: "Probably because Scythe hasn’t been in print for a while would be my guess. Dweller was reprinted recently in the same pack as Ryzeal as a common and received numerous reprints over the years so that actually makes it fairly easy to procure. Scythe on the other hand only has 3 legal printings in Japan, of which the first was waaaaaaay back in 2014 in its initial release, the second was in 2019 as part of a limited run special promotional pack with a 1/10 chance of getting a Scythe, and the third was in Alba Strike which was 3 years ago and hasn’t had a rerun to my knowledge. The Alba Strike release upped the supply of Scythe in the wild but it’s still harder to come by. So if they nuke Scythe out of orbit without warning, card shops that spent money to procure a sufficient stock of Scythe for their customers are suddenly left in the dust. They pretty much need to give the shops ample time to offload excess Scythe stock and prepare for the ban in order to minimize losses. Whereas with Dweller they completely tanked its value with the recent common reprint anyway." This makes sense if you consider what happened in Cardfight Vanguard, where an oppresive top-tier deck's cards all got banned immediately in the next banlist that it was dominant, which left many card shops with surplus of worthless cards overnight, which then lead to many shops dropping CFV altogether.
Well in OCG case, usually they put the most broken card of the format(for eg. needlefiber, anaconda, dragun) to 1 hinting that it will be banned the next banlist. At least we know scythe gonna get banned next list ^^

I think they wouldn't hit it because they made maxx C 2.0 just so we have more Maxx C but they hit the OG one because we have too much of them. Also good amount of OCG people believe that Maxx C is a card that can measure player skill this might also be the reason.
Imo hitting Shifter was the better way to go. In most cases it makes the game entirely unplayable for the opponent and makes full boards for Maliss. Gold Sarc and Allure basically do nothing to the deck, especially if you were running Dimensional Fissure or Shifter over Allure which I was. This banlist doesnt change my decklist at all.

Here's my take to what they could've done to Maliss. I think in all honesty, Terahertz should be banned, if not Desavewurm. The deck is already getting more powerful cards in ALIN and the deck not too long ago has won a YCS in China with a lot of them in the tops, too. I think it's about time Cyberse gets some general hits for how strong their ED choices are.
Sucks that they are hitting seventh tach so early into its life. The card is meant to breathe life into xyz era decks but of course it’s used in the broken flavor of the month and will be hit and left hit for years to keep ryzeal down. Instead of you know hitting ryzeal… if they ban new cards to protect new decks why would I buy anything sealed ever? Wack af
Scythe to 1 is exactly why the TCG banlist is objectively better designed. Regardless of it's faults, the TCG does have logic behind it's hits even if there are better ways to deal with a problem. Scythe to 1 does OBJECTIVELY NOTHING. The same thing can be said about S:P to 1, thinking about it too hard will give me an aneurysm :/
@KeshavKrishnan SP to 1 didn’t do anything. The decks running multiple SP mostly just used it as an accessible warrior to make Isolde, like in Rescue ACE. It got hit and immediately replaced by the Flame Swordsman link 2.

@BaxsStudios yeah? Its strong but it aint that crazy
Unlike scythe which is.. still not banned
@@ramondewilde05 an easy to summon lingering floodgate is the definition of crazy. I'm shocked it survived that long without getting banned
@@Liliana_the_ghost_cat which both turns itself off in a turn can get killed by battle can get handtrapped doesnt effect half the decks
And needs multible cards
Seems pretty ballanced when it comes to floodgates
You could have every pendulum card at 3 and pen is still dead.
watch as ryzeal and maliss stay as the best. we saw this crap with snake-eyes, spright, tear the refusal to outright ban the deck but the love of hitting cards they play.
gozen hard counters ryzeal can't have both the light and fire.
we see this every format the slightly hit the top deck but then hit cards that the decks below use to counter the top decks keeping the best deck the best
Ryzeal being hit hard is a good thing. When a deck has 45%+ representation it needs a hit.
Wack af
This is a very OCG kind of list... By which I mean it sucks.
Because the TCG lists are so good right
What did banning Linkuriboh, Apollousa and Baronne achieve again
This is more of a transition list, not a kill list to release new product
Dweller affects new products (Orcust & D.Ruler) but indeed, needs to be harsher next time
Scythe to 1 is exactly why the TCG banlist is objectively better designed. Regardless of it's faults, the TCG does have logic behind it's hits even if there are better ways to deal with a problem. Scythe to 1 does OBJECTIVELY NOTHING. The same thing can be said about S:P to 1, thinking about it too hard will give me an aneurysm :/
SP to 1 was a real hit tho, lots of lists were running two prior. It means you only have to answer one
@KeshavKrishnan SP to 1 didn’t do anything. The decks running multiple SP mostly just used it as an accessible warrior to make Isolde, like in Rescue ACE. It got hit and immediately replaced by the Flame Swordsman link 2.
@ yeah it got hit and was replaced by a worse and weaker card. That's literally an impact
What is the logic of banned Link Kuriboh? lol TCG is just as bad they just go at a different route about it.
@@mrharvy100 most useful generic link 1 in snake eyes that also protects you from targetted negates the remainder of the duel on your lv 1s
cant expect anything logical from a format that semi-limited sp little knight
The third s:p always gets you
Scythe has to be kept at 1 in the OCG to keep the combo decks in check obviously
Dweller did nothing wrong .__.
People just wanna spam grave effects and do Hella degenerate things like tear did
Cards should exist to counter the grave......
VFD did nothing wrong .__.
People just wanna spam effects and do Hella degenerate things list yubel did

@@tobias-sager While Dweller can win the game on it's own comparing it to VFD is crazy. You can still somewhat play under Dweller provided you're entire deck isn't grave focused like Tear.
@@tunnelingkiller4677 Dweller is vfd for graveyard decks
@@tunnelingkiller4677Probably was sarcasm(I hope), joking about "dweller being fine".
Anyway I would argue a generic lingering floodgate that seal such a big part of ygo isn't really "fine".
Cards to counter playstyle is fine but at this point most decks use gy in some way and floodgate are not really healthy.
@tunnelingkiller4677 Yeah, idk what people are on VFD is way different
Imo dweller keeps people honest, like if I kill something under dweller it actually dies I really don't like how everything floats and actually pluses if I destroy it
Dweller is small as well 1700 isn't big and doesn't protect itself
3vs3 in ocg don't use a shared card pool, wtf is this chatter talking bout?
In some duelist cups 3v3 events in SEA yes we do share card pool FYI
Yes they do bozo. Are you even an OCG player? Literally every 3v3 outside Japan uses a shared cardpool. Or did you think the OCG consisted of only Japan and forgot that other countries exist
LMAO scythe to 1 is so Konami because Nobody asked for it, Completely unwarranted, and It's a floodgate so you no play yugioh
Taking pot shots at tear at the end of the vid is dirty, disliked.
Tear is still missing 4 cards in the forbidden section to finally be considered a fair deck.
I don't get tear players... they behave like their deck is just an innocent rogue deck even though tear is the by far most powerful deck in the history of this game
