- Here I show how I replaced a “Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers - 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs”. I got the kit from etrailer. They worked out great, so I thought I would give them a nod here.

What if you replace the axle?
Im having issue getting the equalizer back in positon. I was told to lift entire trailer/RV
Thing weighs 14 tons tho...
I lifted one side 2 20 ton bottle jacks, 4 jack stands. Man so sketchy being under 14 tons with only one axle on. Feww
Someone elsw says remove all 4 wheels to get enough clearance for leafs to go down enough.

Never worked with equalizer before.
I just replaced both equalizers/ leaf springs on a tandem axle trailer for a boat. 7k. The axle was loose bc I did the leaf springs too. the process should be close. I took both tires off, jacked up one side with bottle jacks, then one bottle jack under the leaf spring to line it up with the equalizer. Then installed the bolts & shackles. Then did the tie plates to the axle. Done. Hope this helps.
@@beaulster i just finished 30 minutes ago did same thing but lifted entire RV up so i could do it all at once. Little hairy but its all good. Coming down i was running around lowering it little by little each side so it didn't tip over. What a great time lol
This is really an awesome video on how to change the equalizer. I do have a question, though. When you first removed the nuts on the bolts, how did you know how high to raise the jack to take the tension off of them so you could remove them easier? Is it just a feel for it?

Are all the bolt supposed to be super tight after. As in should all those pieces still beable to more ??

My plastic sleeves on a couple of leaf springs were tight. Is it ok to drill them out slightly

It’s multipurpose grease to include wheel bearings.

Grease the threads of the old bolts before you begin to remove them. I had to cut one off with a grinder because it cross threaded on the way out.
Dude, you made that look easy as hell, did you put jack stands or just levers down? Your tires were still on ground???
There were 4 sets to change out. This was the last one, so I got my practice in already. I didn’t put the levelers down. During the first set I placed jack stands on both sides of the tires to catch the leaf springs, just in case they sagged down too much from pulling the pins. The jack stands never supported any weight so I didn’t use them for the the next 3 sets. I would start with them for safety sake and assess after the first set.
So is it the same concept on the other side of the leaf spring how did you do that
