Fabulous nostalgic bit of footage from one of my favourite parts of the Island. I had a dress very similar to the little girl at 1.05! My only regret is that I didn't discover the Island until the mid 80s. Poignant look back at simple things we've all done over the years on beaches everywhere in the UK and nice to see Shanklin Pier. Cheered me up no end as covid has finally caught up with us here & watching vids of the IOW makes it seem a little less miserable! Thank you! x J x
These footage has survived well - everyone seemed to go to Shanklin in those glory days. I can't make out what that is at 1:30. Maybe the remains of an old building?
You know I thought it looked like a cave but had assume this was all in Shanklin. I guess they had moved away from Shanklin a bit, Luccombe is only next door. Looks nice from the sea but maybe not as easy to spot in 2022, lol! Cheers. As we agreed earlier - there's 'always something' of interest isn't there!
