I already said to myself if Kendrick drops another banger after Mr Morale hes the greatest of all time to me and GNX did it for me honestly its so undeniable
I had him at goat status already after the Black Panther album. All hes done this year is solidify his legacy, push back his competition and remind people who he really is
Kendrick Lamar's music truly resonates deeply. His lyricism, storytelling, introspection and evolution as an artist reflects stages and emotions we all felt at some point in life. YES WE ALL WANT TO HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY
Kendrick is him. Lyricist, storyteller, entertainer & visionary all from one person. His music isn’t disrespectful to women. He’s more acclaimed than most.
Kendrick got me into hip hop, so I have a personal connection to him, but to me, he's the greatest of all time. There may be others who can outrap him in terms of pure ability (Wayne, Jay, Em, etc.), but as far as artistry and writing, he is unmatched, and he can still outrap 99% of people. Man is a generational genius Edit: Also, his ability to construct music is immaculate. I think he has a few producing credits, but his main skill is being able to communicate his ideas and work with musicians to create soundscapes that evoke the pictures he's trying to paint with his words. I'm reminded of an interview with Thundercat where he says that working with Kendrick was "unlike any other artist" and that it was like "being kneaded, like dough, to bring out the best in everyone," as well as an anecdote from the producer of King Kunta (I forget who it was) who made this beautiful, lush jazzy beat, and Kendrick told him to "make it dirtier" and that gave us the now iconic King Kunta beat. Kendrick understands music in a way that so few people do, and it's so perfect for everything he does. He knows when to make bangers and he knows when to make you feel something deep and profound. My man deserves to be the only (non-jazz) musician to win a Pulitzer Prize
i think Kendrick already was in the running for greatest to ever do it by the time he dropped TPAB, to be honest, but people were resistant to it because Kendrick is too heady, too artsy, too..... too much, i guess. they needed to be reminded that he can make bangers, he can battle, he can move the culture and he is not to be messed with. so, yall be late, but thats ok
YES, HE DESERVES IT ALL. Why not him? Why the CANADIAN??!! Why not OUR OWN, who is authentic and true to Hip Hop and who always wants to progress it forward but never forgetting its roots. In our eyes, HE WAS ALWAYS HIM. He needed therapy to balance him and help him accept his duality, embrace Mr. Morale AND KDOT, the boogeyman we love. No more publicly bullying him. Now the bullies WILL BE BULLIED and I’m loving it!!
Drake had every opportunity to be great bc UMG opened the bank and backed him like no other, but ----- He lacked INTEGRITY. The culture will always be bigger than the individual. We the "culture" have to protect it - It is ours.
I honestly don’t feel Drake ever could be king of Hip Hop because he never lived this culture. You can’t give what you don’t have. Kendrick lived what he raps about. He’s authentic and it helped he loved it so much, he studied it, the greats and what’s new too. He’s so creative that we never know what’s coming and that’s exciting. He’s aging so I want to enjoy every moment we have of this complete Kendrick.

East coast will never give him that title cause they still burt hurt over the east coast west coast war back in the day plus he what Tupac would have been
Agree. They are so bitter and hateful over a 27 year old tragedy that was really about two evil men, Diddy and Suge, that they’ve become embarrassing. When I learn the critic is from NY, I cringed and hurriedly move on. I don’t even trust ANYTHING they have to say. Such immaturity.

Kendrick Lamar is taking hip-hop back to its original roots.

That Black Panther album is so underrated. It's probably his worst project since OD (and it's not entirely his), but it's still a solid 8/10

Kendrick comes off so raw and real.
