As someone who likes this game, I don't enjoy it. It's a weird mix of high stakes, tedium, and luck that just isn't too appealing upon multiple playthroughs unless you're either very patient, or very good. It's fun to watch if said player is decent, however.
Without a headset you don't have a chance in hell of working out the direction of incoming fire. It's as simple as that. Also playing with squads is not only the fastest way to learn the game but so much more fun too.
Jack walks past a random bunker entrance without checking it, then walks directly away from it and is sniped immediately. Should be called PU Campgrounds.
its funny since you get more points at the end when you are more active whether or not you win or lose bc the number doesn't really matter unless you're #1.
Seems like the biggest issue of this game is that there's no kill cam to see where you got shot from after you die. If they added that, I'd probably buy this game.
Can anyone help me out? in this stream, jack says that rich was involved in a Jason Kill during a Karen stream. I watched the F13 video before this one on TH-cam and i didn't see it. Anyone know the video title and maybe a timestamp of the Jason Kill?
i totally agree with the "cinematic game" thing, just make movies, even if they're animated. just because somethings animated doesn't mean people won't give it it's due respect, especially if the story's good. look at things like Monster, or Jin Roh, hell even Spring and Chaos, with it's "literally for no real reason" cat people, has one of the most compelling stories and visual styles, particularly in the more abstract segments, that i've ever come across.
i get that jack is enjoying playing his own way, but for goodness sake when you keep saying the game is slow, boring, all about sitting still and doing nothing, your doing it a massive disservice. you have an enormous map full of buildings and lots of other players, you arent supposed to sit inside one room for half an hour doing nothing at all. go out, run around like a headless chicken, storm through doors and mow down whoever happens to be in the room. or die in a blaze of glory, either way its fun. the game is great if you play it recklessly and keep moving. even the best game in the world would look like shit if you just sat in one corner staring at a wall waiting for a timer to tick down.
i may be talking out of my arse here as ive only clocked a few hours myself but am having fun with it. so far ive noticed each round progresses from fps lunacy to sneaky survival and then back to fps lunacy. what i mean is, you drop out the plane and land somewhere. you gotta grab a gun and clear out everyone who landed near you. thats the running around like a headless chicken part. once youve looted their gear and got your bearings, then you go roaming and sneaking around trying to survive. if your alive at the end in the tiny circle with the last few folks, then its fps lunacy again charging around shooting everything that moves. i dont play any of the other "survival" genre games so maybe im reading the whole thing wrong. i dont begrudge jack playing the game however he wants to and for rich to say its not for him. but to call the game boring, slow or dull is based on the way they have been playing it and not on the game itself. see what happened later in the video when they formed a squad. sure, the team based dynamic helps things, but going out and running around, getting involved in fights, making suicidal charges in vehicles, it all makes the game more fun than sitting in a room staring at a door for half an hour.
I've heard you guys, specifically Rich, say many times about cinematic games "just make a movie". While I see your point, consider that the reason these developers chose video games over movies to tell their story is because that's where money is. I mean think about it this way - you could either spend your own money to make a movie, animated or otherwise, with little to no chance it'll be at all profitable, or you could be paid by a development company to make a movie with bare minimum gameplay. I guess what I'm saying is there is a reason cinematic games draw in so many would-be filmmakers and it's not entirely because they're too lazy or unambitious to "just make a movie".
The fact that they're such film buffs (to a professional degree) is really biasing them against having stories in games. Like, they fail to consider that maybe some stories can *only* be told well with the interactive element that games exclusively have. And many games with great stories are simply too long to adapt to film - like the recent film adaptation of Dragon Quest V is actually one of the best videogame films I've ever seen, and it *still* sadly managed to lose a lot of the game's character development. Frankly, it's laughable to me that they're implicitly arguing the buggy messes they play on stream like PUBG and Friday the 13th are better than the best story-driven RPGs out there.
One hates it, the other likes it but sucks at it. I just listen to them when they do PubG, can't stand watching them play it. It bothers me too much how badly he plays :(
I know this is way too late and will never be seen, but Jack, why are you aiming at the floor? Every time you go through a door, you should be aiming for a headshot as if someone will be coming out. ABI: Always Be Aiming.
Jack please listen, the best way to get better at this game is drop into crowded areas like school right from the start and just start slaughtering people or get slaughtered, join another game and repeat. get used tot he guns and feel. Would also make for a better and more fun stream
this game got so much more fun when Jack finally invited people from the chat!! more of that please!!
2:07:10 Damn this is the funniest shit. When Rich starts laughing at Jack's distraction plan... omg I can't.
That's about the hardest I've laughed in a long time. Classic PR streaming moment.
1:02:30 for Rich's pizza place story
Recruit more Pipes, more pushers.
Well done!
It's funny watching Jack sway back and forth in his chair to help him look around corners. I do that same shit too.
Omg you're right lol his head is so perfectly divided between the shelves and walls. That sounded bad!
Rich should just change his name to Negative Nancy, because he's negative and he looks like my Aunt Nancy.
Ah, these early PUBG streams, Jack watches doors and crawls across open spaces. "Riveting."
"I would not recommend this game simply because i don't think other people would enjoy it"
- Jack Packard on the most played game of all time on STEAM
8 million copies sold and active so yeah.
People have played this more than TF2?
Jack's kind of an old geezer so I get why he would say that.

Seems people like this who missed out on Dayz when it was big? (The mod)
Without a headset you don't have a chance in hell of working out the direction of incoming fire. It's as simple as that. Also playing with squads is not only the fastest way to learn the game but so much more fun too.
Pipes is the best ever. He needs to show up on the regular.
Jack walks past a random bunker entrance without checking it, then walks directly away from it and is sniped immediately. Should be called PU Campgrounds.
C'mon Rich, you would be immediately out of breath, on the floor wheezing...diabetus acting up, fumbling for your medication
Rich confirmed for Hockey hooligan.
Pipes MVP
PUBG seems to be better if you're more aggressive... Jack could have ran over and shot that guy he saw at about 15:30 but he chose to be boring.
its funny since you get more points at the end when you are more active whether or not you win or lose bc the number doesn't really matter unless you're #1.
with what? the shotgun or the smg?
...does it matter?
Jack pulls his parachute about twice as high as he needs to
"Dredd is an amazing show" < Jack's got a friggin' time machine!
Pipes was amazing, and I know I'm years late. Do you bleed? I laughed so hard.
they should have called this one Return of the Jack
~55:20 wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, Jack loved Firewatch.........
once went to a festivel and these kids were ready to fight us because we parked the car on the street in front of their house.

Yeah, thought I missed a video. weird.

How far jack gets completely depends on how soon or late he sees another player hahahahah
i get that jack is enjoying playing his own way, but for goodness sake when you keep saying the game is slow, boring, all about sitting still and doing nothing, your doing it a massive disservice.

" play it recklessly " That sound like the opposite you should do in a survival game.

phantom2450 look at something like red dead 2..it’s beautiful to look at and a great deep storyline
Jack try dropping in the school repeatedly, your rounds may be short but you will get lots of experience for your time investment.
Welcome back Jack. :D
i thought jack already returned?
I want to play with pipes! you beautiful survivor you!!!
Don't you guys hate this game? Why do you keep coming back? Not complaining on my end though
Because only one of them hates it and he's not the one playing.
oh i thought they both did
One hates it, the other likes it but sucks at it. I just listen to them when they do PubG, can't stand watching them play it. It bothers me too much how badly he plays :(

Shouldn't that be "ABA"?
Please one day play HL: Opposing Force, it's really good :3
107:05 damn jack aim higher lol #top10 though
Like I said, doesn't see anyone all game. Makes it to top 10
Rich becomes the poster child of cognitive bias whenever he talks about this game.
1:02:00
If you keep featuring PUBZZZ you should just rename the show to fast-forward.
Jack please listen, the best way to get better at this game is drop into crowded areas like school right from the start and just start slaughtering people or get slaughtered, join another game and repeat. get used tot he guns and feel. Would also make for a better and more fun stream
please stop explaining that you like it but you understand that people don't.
two more times since I posted this.
If they have a strong opinion they make sure to repeat it every ten minutes or so like clockwork.
22 minutes in, Jack explains why doing 22 minutes of nothing is 'intense'. LMAO, this is satire, right?
Such a contrast watching a stream of someone that can actually play this game (pewdiepie!) then watching jack and rich play horribly! Hahahahahahah
jack has terrible taste in games and it's really cathartic to watch him die over and over in one of the worst games
You sound fun.
The FTL streams are in different videos bub.
Years later I regret my rudeness; Jack is a great guy. But I also stand by my assessment.
It was nice while the Jackless streams lasted....
