I saw them in concert at the Cumberland Caverns, probably the best concert ever. I was able to talk to them after the concert, they are so very humble and amazing. Best group since the Civil Wars came along.
I saw these amazing women in St. Louis and they were the first opening act to Brandie Carlile and I was blown away! I could of listened to them all night.
I loved this song from the moment I heard it. It was only later when I had fully devoured their discography that I learned it was the second song of a story. The two songs put together make one of the best stories I've heard told in a song in quite awhile.

In Iuka, the story was about two lovers trying to marry (in Iuka, so that is a loophole maybe because in this song, they’re trying to LEAVE Mississippi). Everything else fits though. The two lovers, the abusive, controlling, murderous father, noose in the maple tree...just saying. Go listen to their song Iuka.
