Eric has found his groove hosting the news. Today is the most comfortable I have seen him hosting. GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL job today, Eric!!! Keep up the great work, sir!
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE PARKS? My son and his girlfriend are there now. First day was yesterday in MK. Late afternoon half the rides went down for several hours. Someone said a power surge caused it. Sure. He also said groups of people were trying to jump from stand by to the lightening lane line in space mountain. Then a large group was banging on the walls and screaming in haunted mansion in the doom buggy room. He said cast members were yelling at people and shining flashlights in their faces there and in philharmagic if they didn’t move down. He could not believe how they were acting, but couldnt blame them because so many people were acting like complete jerks. We have been pass holders and have gone for over 17 years. My boys were raised in those parks and are now 23 and 24. It’s shocking what has transpired.
disney needs an intervention because they've been on a decade long bender and lost their shirt gambling. they had some hot hands early but they kept chasing it and got cleaned out. it's time for them to sober up and start taking care of business at home and start fixing all the issues that resulted from neglect. the parks are already full of employees who WANT very much to work there but that clearly only goes far enough because they're telling you it ain't worth it. it really is sad that if things don't improve disney will be full of employees who are only there because they couldn't land a more lucrative fast food gig.
Disneyland workers, most of them looked so bummed out when I went back in Nov 2023 on a two day solo trip. They certainly deserve better pay and benefits especially with the reent and housing market in that area it's absolutely insane. If the workers are unhappy, the guests are going to be as well.
Before the shutdowns working at Disneyland was actually a pretty good job. The pay was higher than normal for the area plus the offered all kinds of perks (free entrance most days for you and something like 5-10 passes for guests, training programs to move up in the company ect) During the shutdowns CA was given 2x more in money to stay home than work. When Disney tried to rehire the cast after near two years most had either moved on to other jobs or would not come back because they were getting paid more to not work. Disney had to lower their standards and just take who ever would do the job
Anaheim, Irvine, and Santa Ana area apartments cost approximately $2-$3,000+ a MONTH! I don’t know how cast members afford to live near Disneyland (unless 4-6 are crammed into one apartment, or they still live with their parents). ……RIDICULOUS!!
I’ll be interested to compare the tone WDWNT takes with this cast member wage dispute versus the one a few years ago in Orlando. Will being on the media list have an impact on the rhetoric? Stay tuned.
13:19 to 13:30, yeah, that’s gonna be a tricky area considering there’re might be some cast members that’ll probably go against union leadership and stage their own walkout protests despite this.
I guess Disney guessed my birthday since I tend to love Halloween, but what really surprises me and also makes me mad is that a lot of places are making Halloween and other holidays a lot earlier.
Honestly, say what you will about the new version of the Country Bears in Florida, but personally I think we should be thankful that Disney is giving them some love and attention. A big refurb to keep the characters in Florida for more years to come, and a restaurant in California, which sort of brings them back to Critter Country aside from the meet and greets. I wish we could've gotten that for Figment...or Splash Mountain....or MuppetVisi- Ok never mind
Well I hope Melvin, Max and Buff well appear in the new Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree restaurant like they did at Walt Disney World greeting guests into the restaurant and singing. That would be very special.
Well thank god for small miracles, my fear that Hungry Bear would be transformed into some Tiana theme restaurant have been averted. That said I really don't feel like it really needed to be refurbished, it really worked well as it stood.
disappointed that there doesn't seem to be any Newsies references on the picket signs lol !!!!! but regardless, the cast members deserve to be treated like human!!!!
I was really hoping they’d move the country bear show into the Hungry Bear restaurant, give you more of an authentic experience dining in while you watch the bears perform, they still better find a spot for the show in Disneyland, and not DCA
Well, Walt disliked the entertainment and labor unions. So this battle over pay and benefits isn’t new to Disney. Everyone behaves like he was a saint. And he did create something special, but he and his brother were also a shrewd businessmen. They also very much embraced elitism, Club 33 and other areas were created for VIP/wealthy guests where they could consume alcohol (so he was a bit of a hypocrite there too).

Eric, glad you are finally comfortable enough to riff a bit on the script and do little asides to your mom!
13:15 - I'm dyin' at "I'm not HAPPY Bob!" I read that sign in Wallace Shawn's voice.
I think that was intentional haha
13:18 ok. That sign is creative. Kudos for that.

Disney World is the same way unfortunately.😢

As always, nice job Eric!

Great add a restaurant with the ride theme instead of the ride itself. I’m sure it’s more cost effective.🙄
I love the new window projection! So much fun!

The red tag on those ToT shirts look like you’re earning your ears. 😁

Am I missing something cute, or did you just misspell "opportunity," spelling it .. oppUrtunity in the opening segment??
Lightning lane instructions aren’t complicated enough

Omg yes! At least the trio on the wall

Instead of adding the hatbox ghost to the haunted mansion they NEEDED to add the headless horseman to the graveyard scene
I’m not sure what the point of having the country bears restaurant when the characters haven’t been there since 2001.
Halloween start at Disneyland August 23th
ridiculously early, 10 weeks prior.
So is Tom no longer on the show?
Tom will be back in a few weeks.
Great video. Handsome as ever
A Country Bear Jamboree Re-Theming looks absolutely Exciting.
Just please don't close the parks
Since I can't be on property today to celebrate the anniversary first-hand, I'm reading some Shirley Jackson at home. Close enough I reckon.
Opportunity, not oppurtunity, fellas. Pay attention to detail, unlike the Walt-less and soulless Disney Co.
PLEASE let them leave the Tower as it is
Twilight Zone, and all
please
