Good Evening Joseph, that is a very nice way to move the rear sleeve hitch 👍😇👌OUTSTANDING Steel Cutting that you have done 💪👍😇 Cheers 🍻🍻( Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING WORK AT SCHOOL !!! ) 😇😇👍👍
HEllo there Joseph and Iain!! You have yourself a nice project there guys!! It'll be fun to watch you folks bring this back to its original glory!! Take care!!
You are right 3pt is better. Cat0 3pt hitches are even rarer than sleeve hitches over here. We would love to buy a 3pt for our Bolens HT23 even if we have to ship it from the US. Take care
Hi Paul, we are hoping to use the mill to help us cut back the addons and ensure a straight edge which will be fun. It will be great if we can bring this back to original. I hope everything goes well next week, we will be thinking of you. Take care
The former owner made a lot of modifications to this sleeve hitch. You’re off to a good start bringing it back to normal 👍🏻. Have a great week Joseph 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
Hey Guys. That's a really neat hitch. I had never seen one like it before. Impacts are great. It is nice to get it back to its original condition. The previous owner sure liked modifying it lol. Take care
Very handy attachment...years ago I salvaged a sleeve Hitch off a riding lawn mower to mod to add to one of the JD s...maybe 1 day I will get around to it
Good evening Joseph and Ian, Another interesting video. A bit of work, but original equipment 👍. I am sure you will have it looking great in no time. Joseph, you are quite the talented young man. All the best, Ben.
Thanks for the video I love watching your videos they're really helpful we have three bolens tractors two 1476 and a 1886 and they are the best tractors we have ever owned
Thank you very much for watching them 👍 Like you, we love our Bolens tractors. We have other makes by they are not built as well, do not have as many features and are not as strong. Take care
Nice save and project. I am fortunate to have found sleeve hitches for all my Craftsman tractors, and have some spare hitch parts. The one thing I like with mine is they have large adjustable lift assist springs. Works great with the tiller attachment I have. Take care.
Nice acquisition Joseph - I think the hitch will serve you well. The pile of rubbish is impressive! Looking forward to seeing how you mill / make the missing parts.
Thanks. I think cutting off the worst of the rubbish was the easy bit, returning it to original and making the missing parts will be a different story. Take care
Wow, you would not belive how rare sleeve hitch attachments are over here. It is possible to buy a sleeve hitch to 3pt adapter to use your sleeve hitch attachments, if not it is tempting to talk to you about buying them and shipping them over here. Take care
Had not hear of sleeve hitches before. I like the lift for the plow. Good find on buying the second sleeve hitch. Surprised the seller would sell separate from tractor, though. The standard 50mm ball is different than Canada. We have 2 5/16" for hauling the larger trailers, 2 " most common, and 1 7/8" for smaller trailers. Good bit of detail to order a new sticker too. Some fantastic welding on those modifications! haha The scrap you removed is significant but luckily, some of it can get reused in the shop. This will be an original when you're done. Good job. I think I heard the cameraman speak at one point. He is really coming into his own and I truely believe that he will eventually become a valuable member of the shop. Just keep up on his training (and watch the number of tea breaks).
Thanks. We added the detail about the ball hitch because we thought that Canada and the US uses a number of different sizes. I don't think the seller reaslised how rare the sleeve hitch is. The cameraman will want extra with a talking part :-) Take care
@@GardenTractorBoy Like I say... keep the cameraman working at assigned tasks until he can work entirely without supervision. I one hear a friend had written a reference for a former employee. It read " He works well under constant supervision." (Sort of like a wheelbarrow, that is. Works when pushed but otherwise stands still). I see the cameraman has earned a spot somewhat above that but will still need prompting, encouragement and further training. You stay the course, Joseph. No pay rises for the cameraman just yet...Evaluate his progress regularly and keep him moving. He may just surprise us all someday soon.
Very good video. The sleeve hitch on my Case was modified too. I bought the Case 220 about 8 years ago. It was advertised at $50. When I looked at it, it ran and had a milk crate attached to the back. When I got it home it turned out that there was a sleeve hitch under the milk crate. Please use a face shield when you are grinding like that. Good Luck, Rick.
You got some work but with the way y'all have the shop setup for working on these tractor. It should look and work like it was supposed to. Have a good week GTB! See ya!
A sleeve hitch tends to only be used on garden tractors that are too small for a 3pt although you can buy a sleeve hitch to 3pt adapter for bigger tractors. Take care
Thanks. We are planning to skim the top where the pin goes in and try to take it back to exactly where it was originally. Then hopefully the old pin will knock out with a drift. Take care
that wasn't too hard to clean up, I don't have a bolens plow, I did fit one up to my bolens but I don't know who made it,, it really doesn't work too well but better than nothing.
Poor thing was all sorts of modified. I wish shipping was alot cheaper. I would send you 1 of my spare sleeve hitches. 1 is a NOS (never been used) white Brinly made sleeve hitch and the other is a red Ohio Steel made sleeve hitch. The Ohio Steel sleeve hitches are slightly heavier built than the Brinly. I have no plans of using the Briny hitch. Maybe once I get more tractor storage and I buy a few more tractors but I won't own a tractor if it has to sit outside. Repair bills for a tractor that sits outside can get quite expensive. Any rubber or plastic parts will go bad and moisture is not good for the metal parts especially the bearings. I had an old 1050 that I had let sat outside and I was always having to replace parts on it that had seized up. The last time I had worked on it I had to replace the clutch friction material because moisture had caused it to seize and become detached from the hub. The time before that I had to take the steering column off to free up the PTO engagement shaft that had seized. The time before that I had to replace the fuel line and all 4 belts because they had rotted from sitting out in the weather over just 3 years. Since I started storing it in a shed I have had to replace the battery once because it was weak and it had froze. Other than regular maintenance items such as oil, spark plug and fresh gas I haven't had to do anything to it since and it has been perfectly reliable.
Thanks. We keep all our tractors under cover for the reasons you mentioned but it is hard to make the space. Sleeve hitches are so rare and expensive over here that I expect buying one from you and the shipping costs would still end up being cheaper than buying one locally. Take care
I'm curious if the fella sold the garden tractor. You could not replicate the hitch for 35 GBP. Another interesting video Joseph. BTW, who found the hitch? You or the camera man?
It was an interesting find, a friend who lives the other side of the country agreed to buy something from the seller and we collected it for him and then we noticed he had the Bolens and hitch. Take care
Sleeve hitches are very rare over here and even if we could find one to buy it would be really expensive. Our other sleeve hitch we had to import from the US as we could not find one over here. We are planning to rebuild this to original condition, if possible. Take care
Good Evening Joseph, that is a very nice way to move the rear sleeve hitch 👍😇👌OUTSTANDING Steel Cutting that you have done 💪👍😇 Cheers 🍻🍻( Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING WORK AT SCHOOL !!! ) 😇😇👍👍
Thanks. This is a fun project and we hope we can return it to the way it was designed. Take care
That was a great work on the sleave hitch project. Did very well on the deconstruction to save it.
Thanks. We are hoping we can return this to original condition and without any signs of the previous modifications. Take care
HEllo there Joseph and Iain!! You have yourself a nice project there guys!! It'll be fun to watch you folks bring this back to its original glory!! Take care!!
Thanks Mike. I hope we can return it to original although it is a bit early to know if we can or not. Take care
Great project, you are doing the right thing to save the hitch, well done Joseph
Thank you very much, I hope we can return it to original. Take care
Excellent job explaining the sleeve hitch. I had never seen one before. Seems a handy bit of kit for the tractors. Thanks and have a great one
Thanks. A sleeve hitch is a good attachment lift system for smaller tractors that are too small for a 3pt. Take care
The sleeve hitches are great, but you just can't beat a 3 point! Nice mods!
You are right 3pt is better. Cat0 3pt hitches are even rarer than sleeve hitches over here. We would love to buy a 3pt for our Bolens HT23 even if we have to ship it from the US. Take care
Hello Joseph,
This looks like it will be an enjoyable project... I look forward to tagging along with it...
Take care.

That was a nice find, fellas! This should be a short project, considering your capabilities. I look forward to seeing the hitch in its restored glory.
Thanks. I hope we can return this to original condition. Take care
Nice progress on the sleeve hitch, Joseph. It was a bit of a hard one to bring back from the grave but now you have a good start......CHEERS
Thanks. I think cutting off the rubbish was the easy bit but we do hope we can return this to original condition. Take care
The former owner made a lot of modifications to this sleeve hitch. You’re off to a good start bringing it back to normal 👍🏻. Have a great week Joseph 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
Thanks. We were surprised how many modifications we made and I hope we can return it to original. Take care and I hope you have a good week too
that grinder seems to be pretty good even if it is a fake makita! Keep up the good work!
Phil
Thanks. We did a video about these grinders a while back. Having different discs on a few cheap grinders works very well. Take care
Hey Guys. That's a really neat hitch. I had never seen one like it before. Impacts are great. It is nice to get it back to its original condition. The previous owner sure liked modifying it lol. Take care
Thanks. It seems like a lot of people like to make unhelpful modifications to garden tractors, I have no idea why. Take care
Full watch and a thumbs up 👍🏻 Joseph
Thank you very much Gary. I hope you have a great week, take care
Very handy attachment...years ago I salvaged a sleeve Hitch off a riding lawn mower to mod to add to one of the JD s...maybe 1 day I will get around to it
This project has been in the queue for a number of years too. Take care
Good work on sleeve- very useful attachment
Thanks. They are almost impossible to find over here which is not helpful. Take care
First time I see a sleeve hitch! That is interesting to see other type of attachment. I've seen my share of modified things, not all nice! Thanks!
It is very hard to say anything nice about the modifications that were made to this attachment, I hope we can return it to original. Take care

Thanks. I think cutting off the worst of the rubbish was the easy bit, returning it to original and making the missing parts will be a different story. Take care
I have several of the disk and plow attachments like you showed but never understood how they would attach to a small tractor
Thanks for sharing

I have confidence you will make it work.
Thank you very much, I hope we can. Take care
Lucky find Joseph. Nice price as well. It's alterations were mega beefy. Good work so far. Tony
Thanks 👍 We are pleased with progress and it will be good to have it back to original. Take care
Good video Joseph
Thank you very much. Take care
Hello nice project it will look great when done .they had a lot of stuff added to the hitch
Thanks. You are right, they did add a lot of stuff to this and I hope we can return it to original. Take care
The good old Armstrong lift
They always work well, but I do prefer using our hydraulic lift kits for ease lol. Take care
I don’t think I have ever seen that type of hitch before.

That is an odd hitch setup, can you lift the plow with the lever for tighter turning? Thanks for sharing.
Yes, the lift lever can be used to lift the attachment for a turn or to park the attachment at the end of the job. Take care
Great video fellas. Interesting project. Sleeve hitch’s sure are handy. How do you plan to get the pin out ?
Have a great day fellas.
Thanks. We are planning to skim the top where the pin goes in and try to take it back to exactly where it was originally. Then hopefully the old pin will knock out with a drift. Take care
you have nearly made your £35 back with all the scrap you have cut off 🤣🤣, been a good video 👍
Thanks. A lot of weight in that scrap :-) It would be good to reuse some of the parts. Take care
that wasn't too hard to clean up, I don't have a bolens plow, I did fit one up to my bolens but I don't know who made it,, it really doesn't work too well but better than nothing.
Thanks. We enjoy using a plow on our Bolens, we have no idea how to use one properly but it is fun. Take care

@@GardenTractorBoy looks like you were doing a good job as usual. i do enjoy your videos
A lot of junk you got off the sleeve hitch, It probably weighs half as much now.
You are right, it is much lighter and it takes up much less space too. Take care
