    • @sarala1jan
      @sarala1jan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes
      Also to occupy the roads on the planet with as many Teslas at a faster/fastest rate so that can cut down on pollution, be self-sufficient (not to depend on oil), and etc. There is a possibility for price to go down when the manufacturing processes are streamlined. But with depending on raw materials such as lithium and others such products are not man-made, they need to be mined so doubt price of the vehicles will go down.

    • @cypvh74

    The slightly slower acceleration and slightly lower range sounds like they might be using LFP batteries in this new variant. Base spec Model 3s in the UK are also LFP and have similar small reductions in acceleration and range.

    • @johndoh5182
      @johndoh5182 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking about what's coming out of Austin, my understanding is they wanted everything coming out of there to be using their structural battery pack that of course uses the 4680. I think that what's coming out of Freemont may have other battery tech introduced. But the last I remember hearing, LFP batteries are mostly for the Asian market, since they're coming from Asia, BYD if I remember correctly.

      Two narrow blue lines (one for each edge of the lane) is for autosteer using autopilot (which is not FSD.) One wider blue line in the center of a lane is for FSD navigation. FSD navigation means the car will take on and off ramps to/from divided highways (normally Interstate) as well as navigate on city and other surface streets and roads. Cruise control (TACC) by itself doesn't display any blue lines. Hope this helps.

    With all the cameras, they should add some trailer towing automation:
    1. Rear view on screen. Tap hitch, and the truck automatically puts the hitch ball right under it. (If the hitch is high enough to clear)
    2. Trailer backing assist. You steer the trailer on screen as if you were sitting in it facing backward. The truck does what's needed to make it happen without jackknifing.
    3. Automatic trailer backing. You mark on the screen rear view where you want the end of the trailer, and the truck puts it there hands off.
    And, the model Y should get this too.

    I simply don't get it! If the idea was to distinguish Austin MY, why make it AWD? If they would have kept the Austin MY SR+ RWD only, it would have been cheaper than 3k difference and probably improved range from 279 closer to 300. There are 100s of people who ordered MY before the March price increases that have no incentive to switch to SR model since it will actually cost more to get SR now.

      If yours is already ordered it will not have 4680's. That said, the 4680's ARE better. The pack in the Austin-made Y is smaller to allow Tesla to make as many cars and packs as possible. You can either have lots of cars with shorter range and shorter wait time, or a longer wait time for a more range vehicle. Tesla is opting for more cars because they know people will still buy them because 280 miles of range is totally fine, and because wait times are getting ridiculous and they understand that. • @kjsdpgijn
      @kjsdpgijn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Incorrect. The 4680's are much better all around. They're making smaller packs with the bigger, better batteries to be able to produce them at "insane scale," as Elon stated. The range isn't lower because the batteries aren't way better, the range is lower because they're using as few cells as possible to get a reasonable range, and in doing so Tesla will be able to make more Y's out of Austin. That's more important than longer range, as wait time for Y's has gotten truly absurd, despite Fremont making a lot more quarter after quarter. Demand is through the roof and people are willing to drive a 280 mile version, especially if it has all the newest upgrades and structural pack. It's a genius move. Plus, it won't cannibalize Fremont Y sales by doing this.
