    He 100% passed!! great job. I would have taken that experience with a swollen head (lol) and more confidence. Yes, dangerous but it's like a new driver safely moving a car off a busy interstate after a tire blowout. It happens we all make mistakes and we learn from them. Key point is he was trained. Great job again guys!!

      Thank you. Yes, it all comes down to the quality of the training. That speaks volumes

      I eat good too! Just using intermittent fasting with no sugar no alcohol and it’s amazing. I feel better than I did in my teens. It’s about feeling energized. I also sleep 3 hours less per night. Every day is like a 27 hour day to me now. I want to write a book when this is over and I hit my goal. I’m within 10-12lbs of “fit”

      When I first saw him in April, I hadnt seen him since February of last year. It was quite a change. He's looking good. An inspiration for me. I have lost 15lbs since March 22.

      I eat plenty of carbs. The only thing I am not doing is a Keto diet. So pizza pastas cheeseburgers bring it on.

      Stuff happens, but it was wasn't a big deal as I had throttle the whole flight, until turning base to final when the only speed I needed was given to me by mother Earth, and why I didn't notice it until the take off part of the Touch and Go. It started right up on the Taxiway, so I'm 100% sure had I lost it in air, I would have done a restart... Depending on my height of course. Aviate. Navigate. Communicate.

    So when ya went, "No Hands" I got the idea you were trying to ease his mind b/c this was his solo flight, right? That was my take

      SO may I ask once the engine dropped out, what is the Glide Ratio of this aircraft? Not that I know what it all means and
      it's great if you land safely, in my humble opinion. Very interesting video

      About 8:1

    • @LarrySMednick
      @LarrySMednick  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The wings are either Dacron or Mylar. We use Dacron except for the leading edge and reinforcement areas. Life expectancy is 1500 hours. They must be kept out of the UV (Sun)

    • @diggy-d8w
      @diggy-d8w 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you Larry, since I do not have anything to compare this to,,,, umm, I'll call this good until I know more but I
      kinda think it would go you pretty good in a loss of power meaning if you keep control I think you be fine. peace

    • @diggy-d8w
      @diggy-d8w 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ahhh yes, UV is not our friend & I guess when it gets close you strip it off & redo it? Or if you wanted say a 16:1 glide
      you would do that then. IDKnow that a 16:1 even exists but I'm not asking that. Thanks again & be safe this season.

    I like the way one fellow just kinda blows it off that he set a control incorrectly !
    Being the other guys maiden flight !
    Is that what caused the engine to quit ?
    Sounds dangerous to me ! !
    ------😳------

    • @LarrySMednick
      @LarrySMednick  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wasn’t blowing it off and yes it quit because the idle was set too low from the engine manufacturer and I bumped the hand throttle up and forgot to adjust the idle at the carburetor. But if you fly long enough your engine WILL quit and if you need the engine to fly (meaning you solely rely on it) then you are a statistic waiting to happen. The truth is the engine could have quit at any point during his flight and should have only caused him to land over landable terrain. What more can I say , I screwed up…. Been doing this for 25 years and that’s a first that I set the idle incorrectly. It happens… here it is for the whole world to see. Motors quit. Fly like your motor will quit at anytime and you will be much safer.

    • @UltralightLifestyleUSA
      @UltralightLifestyleUSA 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First off, he didn't blow me off, as I had stated that I was having engine issues at take off, so he immediately kept me in tight to the airport with pavement and grass and open areas to land should it have been an issue earlier. Second, engine out is something you always need to be thinking of and ALWAYS head on a swivel, noting possible locations for emergency landing. The fact that I lost it on a part of the pattern where I did not need power, and needed to be at idle, using the energy of the gravity to get me my speed, was not a big deal. And truth be known, engine outs are probably never practiced enough and doing so on a solo, was good curve ball. IF, IF the engine had died while on climb out or in the pattern, I feel 100% sure the results would have been the exact same, since I was close to the field and had confidence in my flying from the instructor.
