Holy shit. The idea behind this is frickin' incredible. I'd love to see Spike in the limelight like this for a change. It's much appreciated, all the time and work you put into this, but if this ever got touched up and made to run a little more smoothly, I think it would make it even more badass than it already is.

Tronoid, your work is spectacular, and the way you made Spike, the seemingly weak dragon, a powerful drake, is amazing, I hope to see more of your outstanding work. ^_^
You have the gift of direction and cinematography. There are bits here and there that could use improvement (camera roll during action sequence, lighting, smoother animation), but your sense of direction is far better than several that I have seen. Good work.

But, I'd like you to know that it was this video (among many other sources) that served as the inspiration for my own creative ideas. It only goes to show that even characters like Spike have lots of untapped potential.
So basically "What if… Spike was the main character in an anime?" To be honest I feel like he specifically has a lot of potential as a dragon. You could easily say when he was hatched from Twilight's raw magical outburst he absorbed a lot of it. That's kind of the only reason as to why I can think he doesn't have wings despite every other one we've seen being capable of flight. And the fact he is used as a magical mailbox with his own magic being the source of how that is possible to begin with.
I have to say, Tronoid, that I would love to see Spike's full potential unleashed in the show as you do. One possibility you have shown us in this video is very well done and extremely epic. Very well done as always :)
I always imagined the dragons in MLP to have some sort of magic that was exceedingly powerful! Like, perhaps the ponies sacrificed power for control over their magic, while the dragons chose power. Their magic is unpredictable and is more linked to their emotions. That would explain why we haven't seen it in the TV show. Just a little head cannon there!
You know, I know this is old, but it still begs the question... When will Spike ever come into his own? Seriously. I always get the feeling the writers hate Spike for some reason, when really, he's probably the most likable character of all. There's a valid theory that's been roaming around, that since we have no clue how dragons hatch their eggs... It may be some form of draconic magic, considering it was Twilights magic that hatched him in the first place. This would explain his obvious difference in appearance from other dragons, being so small and having no wings. It's altogether possible that, just as Twilight became an alicorn through the accomplishment of certain trials, Spike may also have trials to overcome, and become something akin to an alicorn version of a dragon, possibly possessing some unicorn(or alicorn) magic seeing as how he was hatched in such a manner. It's really not too far fetched to think something like this would be feasible within the canon of the show. I highly doubt such a thing would happen due to the writers being unable to give us even one decent Spike episode... But hey, it could happen, right?
This is just how a see it. Celestia found his egg, a rare purple dragon egg (Spyro Influence Much?) and saw it as a threat and/or was given it as a gift from spikes parents to look after. Celestia had put a sealing spell on him so that he could not access his potential as a purple - green dragon, one fuelled by not simply the element of greed, but the element of rage(possibly only accessed by pure hearted dragons?. After experiencing something traumatic he would break the sealing spell as the emotion inside him grows (or many even being broken by harmony?) until he completely releases it onto his enemy.
Very cool animation. The fight scene especially was very intense. My only complaint was the time leading up to it, it was really slow-paced IMHO. I ended up running it at 2x speed till 07:00. Maybe something to consider? Despite this, I think you did really good. Well done!
sorry for my late answer ! indeed, the beginning was supposed to be slow passed, but now that I see it after a week without looking at it even once, I think you are right, maybe I made it a little TO slow ! I could easily have cut more on some "takes" in order to "speed up " the sequences. Oh well, glad to hear that you liked it anyway ^^. Hope you are not the only one. ( those 26 like up there are kind of a give-away, but you know, misc-clicks are so common these days ; ) ! )
Some of the animation sequences and movements could have been faster-it was a little annoying that everything happened so slowly at first-but this is definitely an awesome creation! The animation is overall pretty good, the story, although it lacked setting and wasn't really explained, was well thought out, and the overall work and creativity put into it is amazing! Honestly, my favorite part is when Spike goes all out epic. He's a character that I've wanted to see as a boss for a looong time, probably since I first became a brony. Thanks for giving him such an awesome role, and congratulations on this video!
the fire i can understand but not he earth bending. even so it was pretty epic to see spike all fight for my friend with out going all Godzilla big and losing his ability to think clearly.
Dude this was super awesome. One thing though, in the future try slimming down the build up. By the time we got the twilight/spike flashbacks I was thinking WE GET IT ALREADY!!!!! GET ON WITH IT!!!! (insert monty python scene here). Otherwise a fantastic watch

I always saw spike as a version of spyro and spike having the 4 elements from the legend of spyro makes me love that trilogy of spyro so much that I wish Sony brings back that trilogy in a 3 game disk for the playstation 4 and 5 Xbox one and Nintendo switch

She hatched Spike after the sonic rainbow gave her all that magic energy. A bit _too_ much magic energy. And almost all of that magic was poured into Spike. That is more than likely to cause some sort of deformity. All that magic energy poured into him at birth will explain how Spike all of a sudden learns to harness that power in this video. I feel like the writers are missing out on a shit-ton of opportunities for episodes. They should use Spike to actually add some more story to MLP, and not for episodes where it shows him being greedy only to teach a valuable lesson at the end **COUGH COUGH** Princess Spike **COUGH**
i can imagine spike as an old dragon in the present remembering back to the begining of the 20th century. he would be like"back then we couldnt talk so we had interupt the dramatic scene with badly decorated words." But tip of the hat to the creater though for this amazing animation.
The battle had gone badly, his friends down, badly hurt , some possibly dead, in his grief for his friends and fear for himself and the fate of the realm, Spikes rage finally burst forth uncontrollably. It was then that Spike's true power awoke because of the grave threat to the realm and his friends that the would be king Sombra represents, and a new guardian of the realm is born.
That was a pretty kickass fight scene. But I think everything before 06:57 should've been slimmed down to about three or four minutes. Drawing out the moments--heartbreaking though they may be--in which there was only simple information to convey made the whole thing feel very corny. The combat was the star of the show; that should have taken up the majority of the video's run time.
