Hi! We are using a simple or American style buttercream in this video.. We use this same type in our other videos as well and we always talk about it In the color mixing section of our flower videos. It's one that is easy for beginners to make and color. There are many recipes available online for this type of buttercream. We reserve our recipe for our paid students. If you are interested in yearly membership to our school you can check out what it includes at our school site www.cakedecoratingschool.com thanks!
Hi, thanks for your teaching. After you made cake, how to store it? Another question, you put butter cream on for decoration, can I use fresh cream to decorate for this kind of butter cream cake body? Thanks
typically I store my cake in a refrigerator to keep them fresh. As far as fresh cream goes, I'm guessing you mean stabilized whipped cream. I wouldn't recommend that for this style of decorating, I would use buttercream for icing the cake and the design.
What type of buttercream are you using to frost and decorate the cake? I use Italian buttercream because of the flavor and am excited to try your techniques with this icing.
Hi! Thanks for this amazing video. I just have a question regarding the cake. You said it is frosted and stay overnight in the fridge, or did you freeze it in order for it to be really chill and easy to paint?? Thanks!!
I just put them in the fridge, no need to put it in the freezer I want it cold but if it's too cold it might chill up the buttercream you are working with a little too fast and make things harder. Depending on your environment going from the freezer to room temp might also cause some sweating which can be problematic as well. Hoe this helps!

Can powered food coloring be used?
you should be able to use powdered food coloring with this type of buttercream.
