This was really helpful and I will be making sure that several friends watch this as well! I fired my manual kiln several days ago and it is in a shed in the back yard. I check on it every two hours and then when it gets to 2 hours before it should shut off I’m out there all the time. This time it seemed to be firing really high and I could not get the peep hole plug out to check the witness cones so I went to unplug it, the plug had gotten soo hot that it actually squished in my hand. I ran to the house and unplugged the electricity to the shed! The next day I took the plug out and I could see that the witness cones had all melted! 03,04,05! When I unloaded the kiln I noticed that the cone in the kiln sitter was really stuck!! But now I have to have the plug and or cord to the kiln replaced as well as the receptacle to the wall. As well as dining out why this happened. The kiln and the plugs should never have gotten that hot. Even if the kiln got to a cone 1 or 2 the plug should have never gotten that hot! I paid 500.00 to have the electricity and boxes put in and now I have no idea what to do.
😳😳😳 🤔 I think that the main issue is what you said about the kiln setter cone getting stuck. Glad that you were watching it. I have a few ideas, but send me and email and we can chat further, or FaceTime. Thanks for watching. Hope that everything works out. ✌🏻🤙🏻👍🏻
So glad to have kiln sitter devices.
