Summer barley cutting on ...... 3rd October.
We are a local business and had a stand there, My family also came to it Friday and Saturday and it was a great day out for them, it was good for businesses trading at the event and a great networking opportunity.

Great video of your family day out , the jcb with the white cab the in front of the wee tug dad had one of them, he cleaned out every single burn on farm and dug trench’s for lots of new field drains and it never broke down ever, I’ve showed him the video and he said they were well built machines , bulletproof

Barley is usually ready for harvesting 6 weeks after the field has a reddish tinge but that is going to be longer as the days get shorter. But as you have no problems with drying the crop I estimate 6 to 7 weeks from the red tinge.
However, be warned that frost can kill the crop if it hits before the seed has matured which is why the Canadians swath their crops as they are safe from frost after being swathed.
Also, the summer barley would be great for wholecrop silage, get it off at hard cheese stage, and next crop in after chopping 👌

The summer barley could be later than you think. The days are getting shorter and cooler now. If it come it wet it could be difficult.

Great to see how the JCB's have changed throughout the years. Where I'm from we have an older JCB bucket that was modified to fit a Ford 5000, it's brilliant and can fit soo much in it. Another fantastic vlog, keep up the great work.
God I must be old as I've driven most of those JCB's starting with the fixed rear arm model. in the 1950s I learnt to drive the grey Fergy and if I remember right the engine start was a position on the gear stick.

Keep up the great work - really interesting to see different ideas tried. I noticed on one of your videos when you had the Bateman in action, you were worried about drift. At the end of last century, I used to use low -drift nozzles by Billiericay Farm Services (worked really well with Glyphosate even at 80l/ha) - are there modern equivalents and have you tried them? Used to find that they increased spraying days by 25% during the course of a year.
