    I know this video is 8 years old but still very relevant ...for anyone who reads this... I can't say for 100% this will work.... but it's never been an issue for me I think because when I'm done... I put the unit in front of a fan with all the parts off making sure air from the fan blows through that screen that goes into the turbine... for a few hours... just let everything blow dry before putting it away... I think that dries the turbine.. Imagine not doing that and just storing it away for a few months and any moisture that's in the turbine just sit there ever so slowly drying out....

    Great video, managed to get my brushes moving again! Combined with Hank's Garage Hoover Spinscrub Full Teardown video to get down to the relevant part. Lifesaver!

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! I've watched a TON of videos & none of them showed the gears up close. BUT yours did! I have a few extra screws! But I put it back together. The brushes were gross! I have a dog too & he's been shedding like crazy. It wasn't extracting either! I found that out when I went to walk across my so-called "clean" rug & it was soaked! I had fans running all night to dry them. So I brought it into the kitchen & poured some water on the floor & sure enough, it sucked it bone dry! Thank you once again for your videos that saved me money I don't have!

    Worked for me. Thank you so much. After taking it apart a little WD40 loosened up the lower gear and bearing. I put it back together and no luck. After taking it apart again I realized the upped bearing (the rusted top part in the video) was seized up. After some WD40 and working it a bit it freed up and works great.

    thanks for the video! I just took an Allen wrench and spun it a few times. Works again. Didn't have to take the cowling off. Mine had been sitting for a few months since last use, makes sense that it would be a bit rusty.

    Worked like a champ-it was basically seized up. Just manually turned the white wheel to the motor and broke it free. About 10-12 screws so not too bad

    Thank you so much. My 10 year-old steam cleaner had this exact issue, I followed your instructions and now it works perfectly. I bought a new one yesterday on sale at Target for $129 (reg. $199), but didn't open it, and was able to return it for a refund. THANKS!

    NICE!! I was terrified that I might find a stripped plastic gear and I would be SOL (the replacement assembly for my machine is discontinued by Hoover)... After freeing up the shaft, it works like a champ again!
    I put on a little bit of rust preventative grease on the shaft so hopefully that will help with the corrosion issue.

    Open up the turbine and you may see rust, a small bearing most likely be rusted and the plastic gears will not move. Replace the turbine. On the half chance that you've installed your new turbine and your brushes still refuse to spin. You might have to pull out the main motor and clean the unit below which may become clogged and reduce the airflow.

    Where do you find new parts if they are needed?

  • @richtrost2676
    @richtrost2676 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    On ours, the turbine wheel itself was split down the middle. It's pressed onto the shaft, possibly over stressed during manufacture. No alternative but to replace the entire turbine assembly. Thanks to Amazon it's not priced out of reach.

    Ok I knew all this but how do you take of the thing from the rusted scree next to the white disc???

  • @jameshansen8220
    @jameshansen8220 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is an air vent and screen to the right as you face the scrubber. This was plugged on the machine and easily picked off and the brushes began turning once more.

  • @randycorp5333
    @randycorp5333 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Howdy, I ran into the same issue. That isn’t a motor though, the brushes spin by a gear ratio powered by vacuum. The worm gear is attached to an impeller which pulls air in through the screen then is ducted out the center to the impellor the motor. My housing is cracked so i believe the combination of vacuum leak/rusted bearings = none or weak spin. When I figure out how to pull this impellor to replace the bearing and plastic weld the housing I’ll add that in if anyone requests.

    I never saw a video about this either. How did you unscrew it? What parts did you use?

    • @hayliebrown1345
      @hayliebrown1345 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kingsherry there are 8 screws on the bottom 6 of them have a triangle that points to each screw but the other two you can see on the "sucker". then turn the cleaner over and on top there are 2 more screws. then grab the bottom where she says and pull up and you will see the inside of it. I did not use any parts, I just cleaned the rust off the existing parts :)

    the shaft in mine was frozen as well, hit it with some WD40 and got it to spin freely, when I put it back together, the brushes still will not spin, apparently it is air-driven, but mine still wont spin, there is nothing blocking air-flow.

    • @briandiff1459
      @briandiff1459 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, it was after taking this thing apart 3x, that I realized the bottom tank(and the front clear plastic piece that sucks up the water) MUST be on to force air through the brush system... I feel so stupid.. brushes turning albeit slowly

      Also double check that the little screen on the outside where water intake is clean. I found that it's hard to tell if fur or hair is overing it.

    Hoover Turbo Spin Scrub50 not spinning: your video is great! However, we're trying to access the motor, how to get to where your video starts -- how did you take the top off? We removed the 6 obvious screws on bottom (which, we got from another video). Any feedback is welcome.

    • @hayliebrown1345
      @hayliebrown1345 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +herMommy95 there are 8 on the bottom and then 2 more on the top! I couldn't get it off either and I realized there were 2 more. Take the dirty water tank off and you will see the 2 screws. Once they are off then just pull the top off like she says and boom there are the insides :)

    I have to try and fix mine, what size are the screws? Does anyone know?

    • @tonibarnett1109
      @tonibarnett1109 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are all the same size phillips head screws. Also, in removing the cover, there are 4 screws to remove - 2 obvious ones PLUS the 2 that hold the dirty water bucket in place. (Don't forget all the ones on the bottom side - 4 around the brush head and 3 around the sides and back edge. Those are marked by triangles.)

    To keep this from happening, measure the bearings and replace them with stainless steel bearings. You're not going to find a stainless replacement for the metal gear though, so make sure you run the brushes for a few minutes after each use to get all the water out.
    Way to go Hoover, one cheap part and your product is now garbage.

    Great Video!!! unfortunately every time I use it, I need to take it apart and break it free again! anyone else have this issue? seems like the area is being exposed to water when it shouldnt, causing the rusting and siezing

    • @hayliebrown1345
      @hayliebrown1345 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bruce Zhu (Bruskie456) I took it apart and used comet cleaner and a tooth brush. It takes the rust right off. rinse well and dry. Then lube it with some WD40 and put it back together and you should be good to go for a while. The area will always be exposed to water because of hose the water and solution comes out. Just clean all the rust off the inside screw and lube it.
