    You’re not gonna have a good time on eco mode. Sport mode is the only way to go. Also, the battery starts lasting much longer after a couple rides.

    Why would you have to “break in” an electric dirt bike?

    I was into the electric mountain bike thing for a bit but realized there just junk compared to a dirt bike.Only real benefit is there quiet and you can ride them more places but for the price just ride a dual sport motorcycle if you want street and off-road use.Better range ,better speed ,better suspension ,better parts all around and definitely better handling .

    Saw another youtube video where someone only got 18 miles with 15% battery left in sport mode. Pretty lame range if that is the case for $4500.00. The regeneration they posted was only 2% going downhill and was not worth to engage as it didn't increase battery power. Great looking and light, but I am not going to be dropping that dough for only 20-25 miles of sport riding. Maybe next year or model when the Battery systems improve with Panasonic and Tesla new batteries coming on line.

    Definitely a single track beast. I have a Ktm as well, but this bike is great on tight stuff. Take off the brake sensors on the handlebars before you go. 👍🏻

    • @BarryShaffer
      @BarryShaffer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Heard. Will look for some tight stuff this weekend. No brake sensors to remove on this guy. Segway must consider this for advanced riders? My ebike has them.

    • @Abstract180
      @Abstract180 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Barry Shaffer the brake sensors on the sur ron make it unridable if you are a dirt biker that is used to trailing a little rear brake when on the “gas”. Interesting that they took it off the Segways. I heard the segways come with a limited top speed, on sur rons some bikes come that way and you must cut a wire to activate the full potential, not a lot of info on the Segways yet. Keep making vids man! 🤙🏻

    • @RevRides360
      @RevRides360 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can disable the brake sensor in the Segway App. It's a must. Also, sport mode really wakes it up. The eco mode seems irrelevant unless you are trying to maximize range. 🤙

      Do you like riding this better in single track compared to your KTM? I had a KTM 200 XCW and it was pretty nice in the single track. Also, how does it hold up with small log crossings etc? Is it easy to get the front wheel up and over at slow to medium speeds for that stuff? Thanks!

    • @Abstract180
      @Abstract180 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      NostalgiaRider46 the KTM is the ultimate machine. The ground clearance is much less on the Sur Ron so you’ll need to adjust for that. But unless you are doing big mountain hill climbs, the Sur Ron will be very quick in the woods!

    Barry did you cut the green wire with the black stripe? That's what you have to do to get the full power out of the bike. They have to ship the bikes "street" legal for all countries. I have a SurRon & the X260 and once you cut the wire they are pretty damn fast but no longer "street" legal in Sport mode.

  • @BossManaatti
    @BossManaatti 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm a bit confused why did you end up buying the bike and paying extra for the segway logo? And you were wondering about slow acceleration because it has 6kw peak power at stock and you were riding it on eco mode?
    And also I would like to hear why would you buy it if you have no plans of upgrading the battery and controller?

    • @BarryShaffer
      @BarryShaffer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't know much about Sur Rons before getting this thing. Been looking at a batt and controller but I seriously doubt the wheels and suspension is going to last off road with that power and my weight.

    • @BossManaatti
      @BossManaatti 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BarryShaffer just suprised to hear that anyone would buy a product with no research. Especially because it seemed like you were almost conplaining about how much it costs.
      There are tons and tons of customations you can do to this bike. New suspension and wheels is a given thing for everyone who buys this.
      That's why it seems very odd to pay extra for a plain sticker that says segway. But I guess money is not a problem xD

    • @BarryShaffer
      @BarryShaffer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BossManaatti yup total impulse buy. I thought It’d be a fun toy, I research things I’m serious about that I plan on owning for a long time. Not this. Personally, I never understood the whole mentality of buying buying something with the intent of upgrading most of the major components when new. I come from a dirt bike background and saw guys spend $2-3k blinging out a $7k Kawasaki just to get it to the level of a bone stock KTM that they could have bought for $9-10k. If I were serious, I’d build from the ground up but I guess my issue with the SurRon / Segway class of bike is, for me and the off-road terrain available here in Az, it won’t replace a 300 2t- even with 72v lightspeed bat and BAC4000 controller and upgraded suspension and upgraded brakes and tires and wheels and...
