So a little extra background because I'm not sure if anyone else brought it up and you were asking Alex, the TEI Workshop was a program Warped Tour was putting on for fans to meet artists and talk to them about life. Because of Chris Motionless having such an androgynous look to him, he's become a new age hero to the gay youth of the world in a way in the rock scene in a sense. Voices was written based on a few of those Workshop sessions where fans had come out to him about their struggles of being gay and how to tell people and feeling very trapped within themselves. So the song was meant to be from a portion of their fanbase's perspective. The flashing lights in the video are also the colors of the LBGT rainbow, as another hint.

This is now going into my LGBT+ playlist. I've dealt with homophobia and transphobia to where I now have to lie about myself around certain people, especially some family that are "super" religious. While some people try to tell me otherwise on the bus or at school, I try to educate them, and if they won't take it, I ignore them and never talk to them again. At least right now I'm in a supportive home and have supportive friends.

Voices was actually written by the fans in a way. Chris, the lead singer, did TEI classes 2015, TEI classes are a backstage/vip type thing that Warped Tour holds, it's 45 minutes, and fans pay to get in and it's basically the band or in MIWs case it was just Chris, talking to a group of fans. And the fans get to share their stories, ask questions, & talk to their favorite bands and stuff. Chris did them in 2015, and he said this song was written inspired by LGBT community. We in the fandom have many LGBT community members, and they expressed in the TEI classes how they felt isolated, and trapped and lots of fans talked about depression and hearing voices like. So Chris wrote this song inspired/for those fans and many more and people of course outside the LGBT community. That's also why the pride flag colors are flashed through out the video. Red, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Green Blue I think it goes.

I suffer from OCD with intrusive thoughts and this song speaks to me on so many levels! Whenever I’m having a bad day with my anxiety, I listen to this song! It allows me to escape from my thoughts and know it’s just my thoughts and not who I am!

These TEI workshops take place at Vans Warped Tour. In 2016, Chris did a workshop in which he talked about his life and also the fans talked about the hard times they went through. These stories inspired Chris to write this song ;-)

Motionless in white is a badass band for sure. Man where do I start so mant songs by them you can do. Immaculate Misconception, America, Abigail, Reincarnate, To keep from getting burned, scissorhands, devil's night, wasp. Man the list goes on kinda like Slipknot but sorry Slipknot is a little better in my opinion. But hey they are both great bands I love both.

Felix Knorke Yes sir! Well it's really according to what you like. Slipknot is a band that can punch you in the mouth or slow it down and wow you. I am huge fan so if you like the more heavier songs. My favorite song is People=Shitt, also go listen to sulfur, Devil and I, left behind, Wait and Bleed, spit it out, The hertic anthem, Psychosocial, Custer, Nameless, Disasterpiece. Now if you like more slower mellower Duality, Before I forget, Vermillion 1 and 2, Dead memories, all hope is gone, snuff, Killpop, The negative one, xix, goodbye. Now some of the songs I listed on the mellower is hard but they are the songs they put on the radio. It's really what you like I am a maggot through and through. Which is what they call Slipknot fans. Best thing to really do is start with the .5 The Gray Chapter and work backwards because it gets heavier. If you have any questions holla. I've been listening to metal for over 20 years, and every time I think there can't be a band that surprises me, because everything has already been done, I'm wrong. This was the case with Motionless in white. I like the music as a whole, and although the vocalist doesn't play any instrument, he has the voice, he has the lyrics, and the lyrics of Motionless in white manage to transport you to the moment, you can feel yourself in the music, and that it's rare these days...where everything is meant to be commercial, because that's what sells. Wrong in my view, music before selling has to be felt, loved or hated, but felt. I recommend Motionless in white to Puppets 3 with Dani Filth, from Cradle of Filth. I guarantee you'll get your head spinning from so much head banging

I have been a fan of MIW for a while now, I love them so much. The first time I heard their song Voices, I was hanging out with my friend who has Schizophrenia. We were litening to it, and found we could both relate to the lyrics on a personal level. Her being schizophrenic, she was able to link it to the voices she heard that nobody else could, and I linked it to my thoughts that are influenced by my Depression and Anxiety.

A TEI workshop is something they had been doing the past few years at warped tour. Some of the artists / bands on the tour would have a workshop to teach the kids about something they find important or helpful. Last year at warped tour Chris motionless did his on the hardships of finding your voice and identity in life.
I am so glad you like Motionless in White. They are one of my favourite bands and they helped me through a lot.

tei workshops are the workshops that warped tour held throughout the day where you had the opportunity to be in a workshop with musicians, each musician is a separate class though, some did music and lyric writing, chris motionless (the lead singer of MIW) did a workshop on mental health, mainly focusing on depression and anxiety. i actually went to it and it was the best experience of my life.
I like the way you’re kinds positive. I’ve seen other hiphop heads reacting metal bands and they’re all like why would a person even listen to this kind of music. Thumbs up!

I did a TEI Workshop with Andy Biersack (lead singer of Black Veil Brides), and basically all it was is a big group interview/meet and greet with that person. There were about 40 of us and we got to ask Andy questions and take a big group picture with him.

TEI is The Entertainment Institute. They used to do little seminars at the Vans Warped Tour. Artist would actually speak the fans about music, business, or any kind of advice.

Motionless In White is my favorite band by far. The guys are all so nice and funny. Chris the frontman is such a chill guy. Every single album they have put out I have loved. Chris is one of my biggest idles that when I met him a warped tour I got him to sign my side and I got that tattooed. Love that man.
