another producer hack I got: create a simple 2 bar melody, chop it to up in tiny segments like 8th or 16th notes and rearrange those chops differently, to give your song more variety.
I come from a classic rock and grunge background but have found myself watching a lot o these (and your videos). Really interesting stuff, I couldnt do those styles but there's lots to learn from the techniques. I also see a lot of techiques I read and saw classic engineers and producers use on classic rock records, oddly (like the whispering vocals and comping). Good stuff, keep making art!

What's the autotune workflow for the vocals? Is it a specific plugin he uses or is autotune that simple these days that you can just get things in the ballpark and give it a key to fall into? Bish is getting me inspired to produce some music,
You can get really granular and tune every note exactly how you want it with a tool like Melodyne, which I believe is still sort of the industry standard. However, there are a ton of powerful tools (I use Izotope's Nectar 4) that let you do exactly what you said, just select a key and the plugin will pitch the notes. A lot of them even show a single piano octave and you just click the notes you want to include, no knowledge of key signatures really needed. All of these tools usually let you adjust things like the speed and strength of the pitch correction, as well to get the style you are looking for (natural vs T-Pain, for example)
Antares Pro still is one of the best autotune on the market , he use that + in some songs saturation or distortion and you can see here if you look more closely the entire mix chain 21:16. Also the chain is pretty much this Pre-Q (I don't know what that is) , the Antares , than the H-Delay , the ableton stock distortion , limiter or utility and than in the width (and I believe it comes from the utility stock plugin) , throw , major/minor , key etc. are pretty much the one knob settings he created on the Antares one (pretty sure). Ps. if you want a plugin that does something like that but free the Melda it's pretty great to do that , MAutotune :)
