This song will always hold a special place for me, it was the first song I ever heard by the band back in July '99 and one which would change my life forever.
the song is based on the movie the collector, which is an adaption of the book by john fowles of the same title. however, in the collector, the kidnapper does not have a sexual fascination with his victim, but he is in love with her; is not the smartest man, and he is also very socially awkward, and he is unable to approach her at all. one day he decides to kidnap her and keep her in a secure room in his basement in hopes that if he keeps her long enough, she will love him back and they will be able to form a normal life together. he never rapes her, and he does not actually kill her at all; as a matter of fact, he never does/tries to have sex with her at all, either. in the one part of the book where she attempts to seduce him in an effort to save herself, he finds the idea of her doing so to be repulsive and begins to lose all respect for her. so the song is a variation on the story; it makes it more sinister, but i also think that it cheapens the story by turning a psychological masterpiece into almost another horror story.
yea and its not sid its craig he does multiple samplings like that and distorts them. even the drum intro to eyeless is a sample like that. i recommend hearing eyeless.
5:49 sounds like corey almost throwing up, I saw an interview somewhere where he said his screaming technique back in the day caused him to vomit. You can hear him throw up at the end of scissors too.

i love the concept of someone who hasn't heard this one or read the lyrics listening for the first time, pretty sure its about a stalker gearing up to murder the woman he is obsessing over. it still give's me some fucken chills to this day

Good reaction, definitely a weird song of theirs for sure, but yeah, you can hear the angst and emotion in Corey's vocals in all the old tracks. Need to do Solway Firth from the new album, and My Plague (official video). The official video is from the Resident Evil sound track and has scenes from the movie in the video. They mesh rather well with scenes from a concert from them. Also would love to see you react to Five Finger Death Punch (Wrong Side of Heaven and Wash It All Away). I also recommend Killswitch Engage (Signal Fire). Keep the reactions rolling man.
Dude when you are done with their official discography, You should check out their demo album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. they had such a different sound when they started.

The My Plague video is cool but they fucked up the song for MTV, it's censored.
