I am so glad I found your channel you are very calming to watch and you are so easy to follow your instructions I’ll be doing this one next week I just made a rice pudding I’ve nearly all of it what a pig I am thank you very much Greetings from New Zealand❤
This looks amazing 👏 just what i was looking for. Thank you for speaking clearly with all the ingredients and method of making Bread Butter Pudding. I will be trying it out, wish me luck . Big like done 👍🏻 and I've joined your channel...... thank you for sharing take care 🎉 7:06
Just made your recipe, haven’t cooked it yet though, just prepped and in the fridge, I didn’t have sliced bread, I used soda bread and it’s quite small so left the crusts on, it will probably come out like a brick lol. - yours however looks lovely 🥰
I will have a go with this recipe Sheila, my late hubby made delicious bread and butter pud, our church folk loved it but he used sliced brioche bread also he spread marmalade as well as butter on the bread, oh and he made half and half for the custard, he was a show off in the kitchen, lol. Thank you.👍🏼💝🙂
try it with finely diced dried figs instead of Raisins /Sultana really delicious . This weekend will try with finely diced prunes 😋Also I grate a very small amount of orange or lemon rind
I have not tried this but, yes, I think you can. You can also make it with chocolate chip brioche but you would have to reduce the sugar as they are very sweet 😋
I have never made this without dried fruit but I have seen a recipe on TH-cam where he makes it with brioche. It's an American channel called Preppy Kitchen, he's very good and it looked delicious. Hope that helps.
You could try it. Please leave a comment to let me know how it goes. Also I would add a little more sugar to compensate for the lack of the sugar in the dried fruit 😄
There is a French version where apples are laid on the bottom of the dish, then the bread and egg mixture added. I always add a bit of vanilla and allspice too.
I wonder what is required to make you regard it as traditional. It is a traditional English dessert and apart from choosing to stand the bread on end the recipe is the same as in a cook book I have that was was published first in 1927 and my copy is 1933. For me … it’s traditional.
@@sheilaskitchen the same. Any "bread" can be used as with french toast can be made with croissant, brioche, baguette, white bread. I use fruit bread, plain bread spread with jam or marmalade also
I searched high and low to get the original and best imo. Thank you so much
You're welcome 🤗

This is the traditional way, it was made for us as kids. Look forward to making it later!
Enjoy 😋

Finally someone knows how to make this properly, just as my mum made it (when she was sober that is)
Tastes like home. Happy new year to you 🎉

These instructions were perfect for my son to follow. Looking forward to tucking in. Thankyou :)
So glad you liked it 🤗
I like to ramp it up a bit and give it some flavor. Leave the crusts on and spread some jam on. Add a little mixed peel and some nutmeg.
This looks amazing 👏 just what i was looking for.

Hi, instead of the fruits can I add chocolate chips instead? Like 100g of chocolate chips?
I have not tried this but, yes, I think you can. You can also make it with chocolate chip brioche but you would have to reduce the sugar as they are very sweet 😋
I'm not very fond of raisins, currents ecc. What else can I use in place of them?

@@sheilaskitchen thank you! I was thinking of adding blueberries, what do you think?

That looks yummy! Just a question. Inside the oven, how high or how low do you place the bowl?
If you have a fan oven it should not matter because the temperature would be the same throughout. Any other oven the middle is probably best 😀
Hi how many minutes to be in the oven
It cooks for 50 minutes in the oven. Enjoy 😋
@@sheilaskitchento me look not enough milk you said 250 ML which is one cup but your jug look more that that like two cups
Clear this please
You could use dates...😊
That sounds nice 🤗
Can you also use a microwave ?
I haven't tried, but with a microwave you wouldn't get the crispy top which is the best bit 😋
When my mum was sober she buttered both sides of the bread.
She cared enough to make it for you that's what mattered.
The milk look to me more then a cup which is 250ML
Look more then that
This recipe calls for half a pint of milk which is 250ml. All the ingredients are in the description. Enjoy 😋
with eggs in fluid comes to 350ml why it looks more
Thats not TRADITIONAL. 😢

I've never tried making it with croissants. It does sound very nice though, how much sugar do you use?
