What a great clip. All my heroes are here. Anquetil, Poulidor, Adorni, Motta, Altig and from the new generation Gimondi and Merckx. I think it was one of the hardest Worlds ever. Chapeau to Altig.
This was Anquetil's to win, with Poulidor's help, but Aimar (a French rider) brought Altig back and he outsprinted Anquetil. People in France hated Aimar. Anquetil had already won Liege- Bastogne- Liege and adding this would have been fab. People don't know that he won 10 Grand Prix des Nations and Bordeaux- Paris, which are one day races. He just didn't care about one day races but here, he wanted to show he could win them as well. I think he was 36?
@@nicolasdelaforge7420 yes, the year before, Anquetil won the double Criterium Dauphiné and the 500 km Bordeaux Paris. With no sleep in between!! Aimar had just won the Tour in '66. I guess he was a bit full of himself.
@@nielskjr5432 Yes. Do you know that he had a wife (whom he stole from his personal doctor) and she already had a son and daughter (with the doctor); Anquetil raised both of them. But then... Anquetil took the daughter and had a child with her! They split after 12 years when the daughter demanded that Anquetil leave his wife. Anquetil refused. Then, he was found in the bed of the wife of his wife's (the doctor's) son!!! Are you following? This man was not solely the greatest cyclist of history but he triumphed and did a "Triple" in the "Giro d'Amore". His wife said that he was an idol to the women around him.

@@almalux2023 il commento musicale è adattissimo. Era quello delle vecchie vhs logos se non sbaglio. Anche io ne ho qualcuna, ed in particolare "la storia dei Mondiali di ciclismo" in 2 vhs. Ma questi video mi sono tutti sconosciuti. Continua così.👍
