I know this is probably old for you, but, congrats for making a VERY clear, commentary-less, uncluttered, minimalist and well edited demonstration of all three dialling sequences. For reference purposes, this is very good material.
Technically the same chosen symbol should go around on the digital gate of Atlantis at every glyph position, but they have never bothered to make the prop properly, so only the dialing light was spinning around.
I thought the same thing throughout Atlantis, the symbols should be more like little displays and reflect the address being dialed. I also thought it would have been cool if when Atlantis entered the Milky Way, the symbols automatically reconfigured themselves to match the MW ones. Would have been a nice nod to Atlantis having come from Earth originally and a sign that the 'digital' gate symbols had a purpose.

You can see on this demonstration, how atlanteans were able to build more modern designs to the gatesystem. Destiny seems the oldest iteration, rotating the complete gate, then the milkywaygates, with the dialring rotating instead of the whole gate and finally going completely away from analoggatesystems fully digital with the pegasusgate, which dials also fastest
Point of origin is not specific to the gates location, only relative to the gate. It's just stating the 6 spatial coordinates and then a "your friend, ____" on the end.
@@OfficialHexcraft The plot must go on! Though considering that Abydos is the closest planet in the network to earth, it makes some sense that they are nearby enough for a system lord to say "well just move it over there" and be done with it.
A digital gate does not have to be dialed, does it? 🤔 Also a circling light is not necessary, I think. 🤔 But that's just general criticism of these digital gates from SG-Atlantis and SG-Universe.
What are you talking about? How else would a gate make a connection without dialing the address? That's like saying that a Android smartphone should be able to make a call without dialing a phone number. Also, the Universe Gates are more primitive than the Milky Way or Atlantis variants.
Thing is, the Universe gate came before the Milky Way gates, which then came before the Alteran/Atlantis gates. The Atlantis gates can be dialed faster, of course, because they all _require_ a DHD of some sort since manual dialing (rotating the ring) was unavailable. Does bring up an interesting question though... about backwards compatibility.

Love it, though i'm curious as to how the Abydos gate got to Earth, given the last symbol it dialed was that planet's Point of Origin.
