You should totally post a tutorial video in depth. I have tried to research about making these crystals as big as you have but nobody gives a good video explanation

Dude you could wrack in some serious views and fans if you posted an in-depth tutorial. Most of the pros don't because they want to keep the success to themselves. I'm sure it would be appreciated by many, such as myself.

I think people would like to know how you produced these?

With a lot of bismuth, a pot, lots of insulation for slow cooling and a whole lot of patience. From the time of heating the bismuth to the time of pulling the crystal out is close to 3 hours.

Amazing! How many pounds do you melt at a time? And do you use the 99.99% pure bismuth or the more-expensive 99.999% purity?

SurferBoy690 about 20lb for those and only the 99.99

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get cracking, or melting, rather!

Hey Ryan, I was wondering what do you use as a stove/heating medium? And how big is your pot?

What kind of insulation did you use? I'm trying with a 40 lb pot but I only get a surface crust and nothing forms underneath

For these I set the crucible in a bigger pot once heated that had just some Home Depot pipe wrapping insulation on the inside of it coiled around so that the crucible barely for inside it, with some more insulation on the bottom of the bigger pot as well. Then after the crucible was in the larger pot i covered the top of the pot with insulation as well. The whole idea was what ever you can do to slow the cooling down. Good luck, I've found the only way is with trial and error plus good notes. Or luck.

Also from what it sounds like the top of your melt it's cooling to quick to allow bigger formations.
