I have patients that come back years later after deciding to go the “ natural route” with deformities and erosions. I tell them ( and have always told them) right up front that RA is NOT natural, and it is fine to take the supplements but that it will not be enough, and they are taking the risk that their hands will become dysfunctional, even to the point where they cannot care for themselves . I offer to work with them to find a med that they tolerate and is effective, but make it very clear that I am not doing my job if I don’t give them this information. I don’t think we can possibly be too blunt.
Compression gloves, aerobic exercise, hand occupational therapy, and PT.
I have Luous & Sjogrens. I did the anti-inflammatory diet and it didn't help- in fact, my bmi got too low. The only thing that helped was hcq.
