0:16 "Pong-like Pong-lite" This is one of the best jokes I've ever heard in my life and the absolute best meta commentary on this subject I've ever heard. Well done.
Bro this is only my second video of watching you but I can tell that you've learned so much!!!! Your artstyle and the way you talk is just perfect :) All the best for the future
I don't comment on videos often, but... Dude! I really like your channel. I've watched all of your videos so far in a couple of days. I hope that one day I can become as skilled as you in graphics 😅 Keep up the good work, and I wish you the best for your future projects and the channel ;)
This game was fun. I think Sunseeker turned out better but that isn't surprising when you had more time. Even with the controls feeling a bit floating the platforming in this game was well structured and i liked how it progressed in difficulty. Maybe after a few jams of platformers you can combine all of the mechanics into a single game. It would be interesting to see what type of levels you come up with.
Dude i love plattformers and yours are looking like so much fun. You are quite talented. Mad respect! Also: nowadays thinking about programming problems actually helps me to get some sleep. I don't know what's wrong with me 😅
Hey, can you explain how did you connect with the object. I want to make a similar game where you can control the enemies if you jump on their heads, but i can't figure out the code.
Really cool! I'll be honest, didn't like this game jam game quite as much as the first one-but that makes sense, you had much less time. Either way, it's a very impressive thing to make in 2 days.
Impressive work, and great delivery format, as ever. Unrelated: What is that digital display / picture frame you've got with BEMY at 2:06 on your desk?
thanks! oh a couple friends actually bought it for me for my brithday, so I'm not sure where they found it. I think amazon? It was a great gift, after each project I'll email a gif to my phone of a character or something, then I can add it to the pixel art playlist
Just found you through Ludum Dare! Did you do the entire lighting system by hand? Or did you use any of Godot's features? Like I see some of the sprites glow, which is super cool!
I'm a bit late to this video but yeah as a first timer for LD myself it really gets tight at the end and there is a lot you have to remove or you could've done better at the end, but to me the general feedback from people and just finding out what could be better, or just the idea to use it as a prototype for something greater feels that bad feeling of: it could've been better, because yes it could've but with work it could be better in the future! (also I will leave a review and comment on your game but from video it looks amazing!)
oh thank you! Yeah whenever I do feedback for peoples 48 hour submissions I keep coming back to, "maybe this or that would have helped, but you probably didn't have the time" Some of these submissions you forget how tight the time really was because they come across so well
@@mz_eth Indeed, a lot of people leave pretty positive feedbacks about certain aspects of the game, and leave comments about things that could be better, it still feels nice to be a part of the event, my game is a crash fiesta, and still people find ways to say something nice, especially when it's your first time in a new engine (I recently started learning Godot), it's great, and the feedback on things that could be better helps you learn! like how you learned the controls are very floaty and next time you make the friction value higher! So in the end you learn what is good, learn what can be better and it's a learning experience so worth trying it when you got the time and energy!
@@JustHexyl Absolutely, its funny because as frustrating the floaty-ness was to miss, I immediately adjusted it for my main project. What was your game btw? I definitely want to play it. I played around 30, but ludum dare is so huge
@@mz_eth My game is called NarrowLabs Rumble, a silly "Doom-like" FPS with minor resource management, I really hope it works out fine for you to try it, and I'm already working on a post-jam version to add way more into it (at the expense of our main project... whoops, now I see some similarities in our development process :D)
This thumbnail is much better! The title is good, and the font is so much clearer. I do wish you put the main character's body in the thumbnail though. Showing the transition between an empty body to a dashing ghost into a body with the ghost inside would be ideal imo! All that said, your video content is great as always, so you just need to work a bit more on the clickbaity/interesting thumbnails ;)
Question how can I make a bigger development team without any money or budget I mean it's feels hopeless to get to a company let alone Disney or Nintendo I mean when I finished the script what could I do I mean I want to earn a big development team
Hi im seth and im making development team for my series xenomon "Other than money, is there something I can do for you that would convince you to work on my game with me?"
Can you make tutorials as well, and good hopefully you have good mental health now😂. Migrated from unity and need somewhere to start, I already know a great TH-camr who has helped me a lot through his Rus but if you can make videos on godly programming and all then I would be gratefull
Haha I don’t know if I’m the best for tutorials, maybe for something simple like implementing pixel art or lighting, but I am super early in my learning journey :)
The whole point of game jams is to try and make a game out of your comfort zone. But so far, you have been making very similar top down games. Don’t get me wrong, they are fun, but it would be cool to see you make a different type of game.
My first platformer ever was the last jam, then this time I tried to challenge what it means to be a platformer, given I only have 48 hours. Part of me wants to keep the perspective/art consistent, I was thinking maybe I could give away all these game jam assets for other people to make ideas with. But maybe that’s a pipe dream and I’m being stupid :/
Imo, game jams are just about having fun with the limitations given (or sometimes there aren't limitations, and it's just about making something). Sure, for you it might be making things outside of your comfort zone, but for others it can just be about creating something. Plus, this was apparently his 2nd game jam. No need to immediately jump from what they're used to doing on such a big time crunch.
It's so cool to watch you slowly get better at making games! You are definitely getting a lot better!
Thank you! I hope so, I think these jams help even if it’s just the small stuff
ANOTHER GAME JAM!? You really are risking your mental health to make amazing content 👍

Thank you so much!! Seriously means a lot
I'm new to game dev stuff and been watching a ton of TH-camrs, but you're legit one of my favs. hopefully your channel blows up. good stuff, man
Oh man thank you so much! I’m having a lot of fun doing it
The ideas tha you're putting in game jams have so much potential man
Man! Each of those have so big potential and could be a full game. Its just soo good!
Oh thanks!
Your ideas are amazing! Even if its based off a binding of isaac character, you do enough to change it to where it feels different :]
Thank you! Yeah I probably played way too much Isaac back in the day
One of the best Godot youtubers, really underrated!
Thank you so much!

Oh man thank you!! I really appreciate it, also you definitely can!
Bloody hell, you are underrated on a stupid level. The first youtuber with less than 50000 subscribers who isn't akward.
I love this type of game! The limitation reminds me of Flightless by Nittome
Oh cool, I haven’t heard of it, but I’ll definitely have to check it out!
@@mz_eth It's really old and the concept is probably what is now Bomb Chicken, but I loved playing it as a kid

You might be my favourite game dev youtuber your videos just have such a good vibe
oh man thank you so much, I hope I can just make interesting stuff :)
You're criminally underrated. Great job on this!
Also, what is that pixel display board you have?
A couple friends just bought it for me for my birthday, such a cool gift, I’ll have to ask
I love the game AND the engine~! Great choices!

woahhh nice work, that's already better than most of my week long jam games haha
really well edited video man! not to mention the quality of the game in such a short time. really inspiring :))
thank you!
your setup is really amazing ngl . thats my future gamedev setup
Hey, can you explain how did you connect with the object.
I want to make a similar game where you can control the enemies if you jump on their heads, but i can't figure out the code.
this game is SOOOO good!! l really like your works
one of my favorite game dev channels fr
Thank you so much!!
Where do I get that pixel picture frame, on your desk, from?
My friends got it for me for my birthday, super cool right? I’m probably guessing amazon?
Really cool! I'll be honest, didn't like this game jam game quite as much as the first one-but that makes sense, you had much less time. Either way, it's a very impressive thing to make in 2 days.

Yo already another one love the content man
Thank you so much!! I seriously appreciate it!
Again your still my favorite TH-camr and my idol love your art style
Haha okay I don’t know about idol, but I’m definitely starting to enjoy the TH-cam side of game dev more :)
Amazing
Do you have any tips for getting better at creating game ideas?
Just found you through Ludum Dare! Did you do the entire lighting system by hand? Or did you use any of Godot's features? Like I see some of the sprites glow, which is super cool!
Yeah in godot there is a light2d node, so make a super simple light image and apply it through that!
@@mz_eth Wow that's it? That's super cool, your game came out really nice with the lighting!

You are grossly underrated and need some more subs. (Also that mic is just so crisp)
Thank you! I do a little eq to take way the normal muffled sound it used to have. You can really hear it in some older shorts
Your games are beautifull, wow!
I lobe it. You are amazing
Love how they said the controls are floaty when you are a ghost. im not a game dev or anything its just an amusing comment.
I would love a video on how you do your lighting

Love the concept! What brought you to this idea?
Thanks, I think just playing too much Isaac, but also the limited space theme was a good motivator
Just binged all your stuff, that pong-lite joke really got me. These videos are inspiring. Looking forward to seeing more :D
what software do you use!? great vid btw!
Thank you, godot for the game development and photoshop for art
Sounds like you have ADHD and got a great dose of hyperfocus because of the gamejam. I could be wrong, but it happens to me a lot.
Great video.

I think trying different concepts is definitely "stepping out of your comfort zone" even if the perspective is the same
I’ll try to do better! 48 hours was a little spooky for sure, felt like I didn’t have too much time to experiment
I liked my comment
Ok?
