My father's side is die hard about cricket while my mother's side are die hard hockey fans...And from having the intense perspective and experience of watching and playing both sports i can confidently say that cricket and hockey are poles apart in comparison and cricket is far more complicated and complex than hockey.

When ‘soccer’ players get to the end of their careers their agents wrangle a big money deal for them to go finish up and be a big face in the US leagues. as someone who grew up with cricket i like baseball too, its fun and has its own focus of traits, its just that i dont like the bases part of it and the fact that the batter only gets to bat one time.

When my cousin was in the Air Force, he was stationed in England for 2 years. He had a cricket bat at his house and I asked him if he knew how the game was played. He said, "no and I don't think they know either". He said he went to a couple matches, but nothing about it made any sense.

To be fair to Peirs, he critiqued the English Test team after England batted poorly. Brett Lee being a fast bowler who had recently retired from Test Cricket challenged Piers to face 6 balls from him. Lee hit Piers 4 or 5 times to show Piers that Batting at Test level isn't that easy. Brett Lee was a mean bastard and hit many players over his career. TH-cam Brett Lee's greatest hits.
He was a club cricketer with a club not far from me with which (I believe) he still maintains some level of contact/interest. There are not many 'out of practice' village cricketers who could deal with Brett Lee.

I think there is an expression "That's not cricket!" or "You're not playing cricket!", which means either you're not playing fairly,, or you're not following the rules. Maybe someone British can kindly verify that for the rest of us Americans. On a side note: There was an Indian teacher in one of the local schools who was streaming a live cricket match in India. He brought down the internet for the county school system. This was a few years back when we didn't have the latest technology yet.
