I always said I like all music but country growing up and still kinda do. I'm 31 now and I realized that its because I only heard pop country B.S. Chris to me is more blues cause it's so soulful sounding and in the lyrics. @@Freeeed9719
I love how everything about this dude is genuine. Most people pull out their favourite designer sunglasses, Air Jordans, fancy watches, or some sort of valuable. Chris brought out things that are valuable to him, that all represent some part of his journey, history, his wife, and family.
@@csmotores4365 Even if it is, notice that he didn't mention it? Just because he can afford a Rolex doesn't mean it is more important to him than these things. 🙄
His wife sounds like an amazing driving force behind his success. She got him a ‘64 Jazzmaster and a Jeep to help him with his fathers death. Where do I find a woman like this??
As a fellow songwriter, this is definitely revealing to me of Chris’ process as a writer and a thinker. All of those family family heirlooms, reverence for his heritage and pieces that made memories for him-super cool and insightful!
I love that he chose items that he cares about deeply and that he actually uses! I feel like Americans especially are encouraged to buy stuff in excess rather than using what you have and only purchasing what you need. Chris clearly cherishes these essentials and appreciates the utility they provide. He could easily buy tons of different hats and boots and guitars and only use them once or twice, yet he doesn't. I've always loved his music and this video asserted how I feel about him as a person as well!
You touched on something that really speaks volumes about our society's obsession with excess. I recently watched an interview with Warren Buffet and he said, "How many houses, cars, clothes, etc does a person really need? It's okay to want to have nice things, but there's a limit. Anything beyond that eventually becomes not only unnecessary but just outright ridiculous."
Since I found Chris,I know I can't live without his music, He and Stevie Ray Vaughan are the only two artists I listen to EVERY DAY. BOTH ARE G.O.A.T. 💙
As he was talking about his electric guitar and how he views it as a tool, I was thinking the same thing about quilts. I make quilts, and I want them to be used. Then he shows a quilt that’s been passed down through his family. He talks about how that’s what people grab when they need warmth, and that’s what he grabs if he’s running out of a burning house. Love!!
I only know one song of his. But I'm a huge fan now because of this video. What a deep and sentimental guy. I wish more dudes on this GQ series were like him.
His tour of items speaks to the mind of a true artist. I love this. It is beyond money, beyond status. I started to cry at the knife display. What a cool soul.
I dunno if you'll ever see this, but brother, I love what you do. Thanks for all the great songs you've done and the ones to come. Have a blessed and even more successful career!
Okay coasties don't hate me! But I think his appreciation for his family and the elders in his life is a value that unites a lot of the Midwest and South with a lot of immigrant communities to the US. A deep gratitude for family and how they've made you who you are. Shows a lot of his character in what he chose and why he chose them.
By far the coolest and most genuine essentials. Nothing he’s trying to push or sell just 10 things that really mean a lot to him. Was already a fan and now I’m a bigger one.
This guy… has there ever been a more talented and humble human being than Chris? These GQ segments usually seems like promo ads for the items being brought out - sunglasses, watches, cell phones, etc. And Chris literally brings items he’s had since his childhood that most people keep boxed up in an attic somewhere. I fell in love with Chris’s music the first time I heard him sing. After watching interviews over the years, I think I love Chris Stapleton the person even more.
Had never heard of him before watching this video (not into country music) but he seems a very genuine bloke who had a story about each of his 10 items and wasn't plugging anything. I like hearing people's stories.
His guitars remind me of Trigger - well loved and amazingly used instruments. Family and music are the things that are important to him - no wonder I love his stuff so much
I’ve only just recently discovered Chris. I can’t believe I’ve not heard you before. You are now my absolute favourite artist. Your voice and music is absolutely amazing. And you seem like a really great guy and person to know.
Loved this. Absolutely loved it. Every item registered with me in one way or another. Chris is an incredible and unique individual. Thank heavens he dropped out of college!
If this doesn't break it down who Chris Stapleton is and what is important to him I don't know what else could❤❤❤❤ I just love him as a person forget about his talent if you can't😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Love this dude, not only for his artistry, of which I'm a big fan, but he has an authenticity & down to earth ethos about life that feels rare, especially in the sector he's involved in & the Western world's obsession with consumption.
Watching this was the highlight of this day so far, it's like 1am here on the other side of the world. It's wonderful for me to see my favourite music artist just talking and smiling, and telling me about his favourite things. I cannot wait for you to tour Australia. I'll be patiently waiting. 🪷🌈❤
Probably the coolest video in this series I've seen full of incredibly meaningful items. I get that other celebs might be at the mercy of what they have with them when they do the interview but this one was awesome.
i love the sentimental vibe he has with everything especially his clothing, in a time of very impractical and environmentally unethical “fast fashion” it’s nice to see someone who appreciates a piece that is functional, durable, and will stick with you for years without ever going out of style 😤
What an absolutely beautiful soul, love him. anyone who hasn’t seen him perform live, I highly recommend. I was 4 rows back on the floor mind blown, amazing night
I'm so glad he actually took this seriously. these are actual things to not live without. not necessarily fancy, not dressed up, well-loved and memorable.
Chris is one of the few people, keeping REAL country music alive. The rest are just pop music with a slide guitar, if that, thinking..........that's country.
That was great to watch and Thanks for sharing with us Chris ! … Congrats on your success in life and I love listening to your country music … I’ll keep an eye out for one of those hats for ya!
love, love, love the honesty and. . .the authentic honesty! HA! The world needs more of this xoxo. . .he is a welcomed healer and leader. Thank you for sharing. . .xoxo
This popped up and I'm glad it did! I love his Sirius/XM channel and listen to it almost exclusively now - I love that he plays so many different types of music and artists that have influenced him - it's a joy to hear and makes me feel like I know him a little by his taste in music!
Plain spoken, honest, and humble. A genius songwriter and a “Guitar Master”. Everyone needs to listen to Chris Stapleton.
I honestly really don’t like country, but I’ve looked him up after reading your comment and I like his music. So thank you
@peanut-ketchup4756 listen to the live version of "sometimes I cry". It's unbelievable.
amazing singer too. best ive heard live
No “blue-eyed-soul” for me. But thanks.

I ❤ how he references his wife so much. True soul mates!
I was thinking that same thing early on in the video.
A chair, a hat, boots, guitar, pocket knives, a jacket, and a blanket. I love this.
His wife sounds like an amazing driving force behind his success. She got him a ‘64 Jazzmaster and a Jeep to help him with his fathers death. Where do I find a woman like this??
They find you brudda!
Well she gave away his favorite hat, but no one's perfect I guess
Not to mention singing harmony with him live and on record!

Amen.

i always love how different celebs and artists interpret the 10 essentials idea. Love his list
👍🏼🔥♥️😎
Great list
I love that he’s sentimental for many of his things because they were his parents and grandparents before him.
Finally no sales pitches or sponsors just genuine sentimental items.
I like him as well. I know he has a colab with Filson. If you plan on buying make sure you get the miusa items.
Love this dude. Genuine, talented, humble.
its all an act bro
@@TheEs150don’t be corny
He is amazing!
He has helped country music become so much more respected. Really opened people’s eyes to what real country music sounds like.
Its ashame that humbleness and gratitude is not a common thing especially in the entertainment industry
Finally a real 10 essentials that’s not just filled with sponsored money grabs
I absolutely love how sentimental he is, and he appreciates tradition. How truly refreshing to hear!!
articulate, thoughtful, humble. What a dude
The chair… loving it.. I saw him sitting on it during a CBS interview in his studio.. love his music..
Salt of the Earth guy. This is the stuff that makes Chris Stapleton so endearing to us.
If Chris dropped a signature jazzmaster I’d buy it scary quick - waiting
Same! And I'm not even a Jazzmaster guy.
Honestly I think tele now after the Super Bowl. That was legit the “wake up and want a tele” switch for me
100%
The jazz master I want that LG-2
Always waiting for it. They gave us the Princeton amp quite some time ago but still waiting for the signature JM 😢
Such an honest and genuine guy.
Best "10 Things" yet. Very thoughtful and honest.
I love how close he is to his family and they’re such a big part of him
This guy is an absolute legend.
As a fellow songwriter, this is definitely revealing to me of Chris’ process as a writer and a thinker. All of those family family heirlooms, reverence for his heritage and pieces that made memories for him-super cool and insightful!
I just love that Chris is so sentimental.
I absolutely love Chris's sentimental side, I get it. Great respect for this proud son of Eastern KY.
Chris Stapleton is so down to earth. Love him and his wife Morgane.

this is the most Ive ever heard chris speak. even at his concerts he doesn't say much. very soft spoken and thoughtful sounding...
This is the most unique essentials list that i've watched. That Jazzmaster sounds killer btw.
Another reason why I fully support him
Someone that values his stuff
What an artist. Just once in a generation talent

i’ll always love chris, he’s just so humble and i just have so much respect for him and his music is timeless.
He's the real deal. He doesn't need us at all but we need him.

His tour of items speaks to the mind of a true artist. I love this. It is beyond money, beyond status. I started to cry at the knife display. What a cool soul.
I love the relationship he has with his wife. We could all hope to be as lucky in our relationships.
The knives got me emotional as my grandfather gave me a case knife and men do that as a coming of age thing. Chris is super cool!

The story of your life and those who lived before you. They are a circle of love that will always surround your heart. Your the real deal...❤
Met Chris in Nashville. The most humble, real dude out there. Awesome list and love the Cherokee.
I purchased his signature Fender 62 Princeton hardwired amp and it is the best amp I have ever played .
Totally jelly, dude. I've loved the sound of those Brownface Fender Princeton's for years and keep hoping to build a clone....a bit at a time ya know.
Same here. It's my #1. The tone and tremolo is amazing
