Love these guys. It's great that young people like me get to hear knowledge from professionals such as these guys. Super cool.
+John Simon glad there's still a place for us 😎
Marvellous to have a mini-masterclass from Bob. The tips have reminded me of what I need to do to get the best shots for me; what I respond to and my own sources of inspiration. The light in Bob’s shots is amazing. Incredible. Thanks.
+Chris Hunt yes a master class for sure!
Light from within the frame. You hit the nail on the head with that one - it's EXACTLY how I want to see my pictures. Intimate and subtle. Thank you for this video :)
could watch & listen to this all day. So glad to have found it, many thanks.
Thanks a lot for your channel, really grateful to find expert photographers talking about everything in photography except gear. Bob holmes is a legend, the khmer / thai woman portrait is amazing. Keep it up!

Thank you 😊 I have saved it to my playlist. I want to absorb the wisdom one video at a time.
Great idea! Thanks for watching. Good luck!
Another great video. I need to buy the book.
+Bill Capps you Dan get it on amazon 👍
Thanks Marc and Bob! Marc you did a great job of getting Bob to open up so that we get a marvelous insight into his way of seeing light and the inspiration for his work. Gaining inspiration from fine art is something that I've also heard from Art Wolfe and Jay Maisel. This is a wonderful video for any aspiring photographer!
Thanks Don, glad to be able to help pass along wisdom.
By the way Marc, I am halfway through your book Advancing Your Photography. Wonderful!!!
Great to hear Don! You can see where I gained my inspiration for the book. I'd be stoked (as we say here in Calif) if you left a review where you bought it.
+Don Peterson thanks very much for your review on your website. I rally appreciate how you embraced my concept for AYP. Love to hear results from the book- please send me any photos resulting from your reading!
Thanks Marc! Inspired by your book and videos, I've decided to devote more time to visiting museums and finding inspiration in the work of great artists. Hopefully, I will start to transfer some of those lessons into my photography. I'll probably have something that I thinks reflects that research in about six months or so!
Your images are wonderfully inspiring.
May I ask to what extent do you utilize post processing?
Thanks.
I love your channel good sir, cheers.
🙏 and good cheers to you! What do you most like about it?
@@marcsilber I like it because I get free information and learning from the pros and I really like photography because it brings me peace.
absorbing knowledge :)
I recently saw this video and am wondering which books you would recommend? I’ve been trying to find interesting books of painters on my own, but there’s just so much…
It's all learning.
Brilliant images
Who in the world would give this a thumbs down?
What’s the name of the painter he referenced?
Mark Rothko
The other is Joseph Wright
Last is Millet
