I wish they would at least mention to the viewers that small swords like the colichemarde were NEVER meant to cut anymore than a common table fork. They were a strictly thrusting-only sword, meant to be wielded like a dueling rapier. Even when Dave Baker complained about the winner's grip digging into his palm: that isn't how you would ever hold the small sword since it was designed strictly for dueling and self-defense. It was designed more for comfort than actual combat, which is why it was a less effective sword than a rapier.
Yeah ya know I’m fine with showing what you could do with a cutting motion, probably just tip cutting though. Pretty much though you would be stabbing and thrusting. It reminds me of Arya practicing with Brienne in GOT and she’s throwing cuts at her with Needle which would be totally useless
To be honest I am impressed by Doug's performance here. Unlike most weapons he uses in this show he remembered the typical "fight position" of the legs and used the weapon almost just as intended in the "keel test". That means that he didn't use it like an axe (like he usually does) but actually made light cuts and thrusts just how this sword would be used. Very impressive. Unfortunately he did a lot of over exaggerated movement in the later test but there I can kind of see why. I am really pleased with this episode and Doug's performance in it.
I think before the smiths return with the weapons he spends that time with a reproduction made by Dave to get a feel for how each weapon should be. He is also told how to cut, how many cuts he should make, and see the results of those cuts.
This weapon wasn't designed for cutting and most of them weren't even sharpened. They were duelling weapons for thrusting. It triggers me when they test smallswords on this show with their cutting ability. This is historical incorrect. And Doug's lunge thrust is horrible, you can see that man never had a sword like this in his hand. He should stick to his knifeys. If he wants to cut so badly with a smallsword-like weapon, they should test the Spadroon!
A skilled fighter would transition from thrust to slashing attack on the opponent's hands, arms, even legs, etc. We're talking combat here, not the Olympics.
Am I the only one who thinks that Doug sometimes looks like a deranged killer at the beginning of the shows when the contestants are introduced? That look in his eyes is effing scary. Ha!
Porque la primera espada la dovls contra la madera con una sola mano y la segunda espada la dobla usando sus dos manos me parece que eso tuvo mucho que ver qué que se halla doblado así la espada.
I don't understand why they didn't say anything about the winner's sword not having a perforated guard. This was one of the requirements specified when they were told what they had to make. The winning sword clearly had a solid guard not perforated. Not saying he should have lost but I am a little surprised that no one mentioned it.
rollinggoronable id imagine for the comments like these, creates a sense of drama, which leads to more viewers who just have to know how he made it this far.
That may have been the worst built blade I've seen on here. Usually when a sword has an obtuse edge they excel in the strength.... And his literally had no edge. His was terrible on all aspects lmao.
This show is a joke ask dumb questions. "Are you ready? Ok even if he wasn't there's no difference they still will start the test. And no person who doesnt make the cut has to give their weapon to the hosts?! Like wtf they put their soul into the weapon and they can't keep it and a gift like wtf this show will die
Calm down kid, the rules of the show are the rules of the show. They probably had a written document that clearly states all the terms, and the participants willingly accepted to it in order for them to come on to the show.
For a second there i thought it won't keel
Balázs Péter Téren I actually got excited because I thought we’d hear a “it will not keel”
if u watch the episode, he may forgot to quench
IT WILL KEEL FRIENDS, IT WILL KEEL!!!
AND IT WILL EVEN KAT!!!
I get so anxious every time they do the bend test lol

I wanna say Washington was a fencer which is why he admired the colichemarde
The look on Doug face was priceless.
That pity "it will kill"

*IT WILL BEND*
He did actually produced a very nice weapon and I can only imagine how difficult the entire process is.
His sword did not made the cut- literally.
When you see it
You like it till
He swings it and
It won't keel
Imagine hearing “you’r weapon won’t KEEL”.
That's the earliest it's been so evident which contestant was going home.
Dan was completely dominant throughout the episode up until the final🤣
I think Dan may have forgetten to sharpen the blade 😆
And i think that they shouldnt test cutting abilities of pure thrust weapons (also Doug should perform the tests in more combat manner)
Dan has invented the boomerang sword.
See... he changed his shoes and that made him a winner!!

Good job
I actually plan on purchasing the cold steel made version of this sword for my own carrying use
FINALLY NEW EPISODEEEEEEEE
It's not kill test, it's keeeeeaaalllll test.
Wow that is a lot of pressure on those people
the second one was not supposed to keel
My colichemarde has no cutting edges, its only a stabber as designed originally.
They really should pay these guys more...
How do you chop down a cherry tree with that wand
One cherry at a time
virgosintellect sounds hot
Very nice blade
Doug's face was great
Good stuff
I would "keel" to be a judge on this show, it will be awesome... 😂
Dan’s blade took a bend because of hitting the spine
Is a sharp edge needed in this kind of weapon? I mean it really looks like a thrust only sword
A skilled fighter would transition from thrust to slashing attack on the opponent's hands, arms, even legs, etc. We're talking combat here, not the Olympics.
What a waste. Kids in Africa coukd have eaten that sword
Jokes such as this NEVER get old.
Finally Early to one of the theses videos
Ray_x. Well Done for Being an Imbecile with an Idiotic comment!
When it gets damaged just from the kill test, that's a bad sign
Couldve played purple haze during that sandbag test
Upload more more lengthy forged in fire videos and you'll get millions of views...
Or go watch the show. These shorts are to try and get people to watch. If people don't watch, then the show gets cancelled
Am I the only one who noticed that when he bent the sword was the only time he used two hands pushing it against the wood? 🤣
a blade with a very high skill ceiling, low strength prerequisite XD
Needle?
Am I the only one who thinks that Doug sometimes looks like a deranged killer at the beginning of the shows when the contestants are introduced? That look in his eyes is effing scary. Ha!
Same
It will not KEAL ):
This sword it not was Made for cuts. It was Made only for trust.
You know he lost when the keel guy said it will kill
When will come time for dha sword? !???
Porque la primera espada la dovls contra la madera con una sola mano y la segunda espada la dobla usando sus dos manos me parece que eso tuvo mucho que ver qué que se halla doblado así la espada.
has there ever been a blade that will not keel
i'll buy that sword for 2,000!
I would pay 5000 for that sword
Which sword
The one that doubles as a boomerang.
@@targetaps lol
Its a sword ofc its gonna keel

I'm sure they noticed and it would have impacted him negatively but the other sword did so bad it didn't matter
Weird flex but okay
God how did that dude who lost make it to the third round? His blade was utter trash
rollinggoronable id imagine for the comments like these, creates a sense of drama, which leads to more viewers who just have to know how he made it this far.
@@Wanderingwalker-ke6mg i suppose that could definitely be an angle theyre trying to work
All that? For a drop of blood.
will keal but not cut
Were they laughing at him at 2:53??
They just feel ashame about that blade. That all
The first one 😂
What a waste of a good pig.. do they cooked it, after? Or throw it away.
Maybe they returned the pig carcass in the slaughter house.
They donate it to a wolf sanctuary
“It will kill” ok so will a plastic bag and a pencil
That may have been the worst built blade I've seen on here. Usually when a sword has an obtuse edge they excel in the strength.... And his literally had no edge. His was terrible on all aspects lmao.
Sponsored by PETA.
It will not
*KHAT*
Colichemarde, more like coliche merde, amirite?
Even if you have a crooked weiner you can find your target in the dark. He could have continued the challenge.
Why? It was over. His blade isn't sharp. It bent. It failed the previous tests decidedly. It wasn't going to win even if it passed the sharpness test.
@@user-gm4kv2my4u Woosh
It's a colichemarde. Edge sharpness is optional. C'mon people... Do u even Matt Easton?
Also the way Doug performs the techniques... I wish he would do it in a more combat manner
just because it can thrust through, it will kill? My pencil does the same thing too...
the kill test is very very very bad
is it gmo pig
All these seasons and bladesmiths are still making dull knives and swords....HOW?! How stupid does one have to be? Haha
This show consists of a lot of grinding and not enough forging .
*Make a sword not designed to cut*
“Expert”: *cuts anyway* 🙄
