  • Part one of a series of five videos in which I demonstrate how it is possible to detect RFID tags that are hidden from sight.
In this videos I explain the theoretical ideas behind RFID and how a detector circuit can be built.

I wonder if any shoplifters have got caught stealing the parts to build this! Great set of videos.

Well I never said, that it couldn't have "alternative" uses as well ;P
But that's of course not what I hope people will use it for...

Great videos! But I was wondering, would I be able to use the popular LM386 op-Amp as a replacement to the op-Amp you used in your video? And would a negative rail of my power supply not be needed since the LM386 does not need a negative rail? Thank you for the awesome videos!

I'm curious, in your intro for your videos, you have a wheeled rover-type vehicle, what video is that from?

Hi, I am very interested on this, it is exactly what I am looking for, a Tag detector, not need to read info, just to detect the tag, could you please do a test for me and insert the tag inside a large aluminum pipe or can, and see if the your detector can find/read it? if not, but modification it will need to amplifier the power and get the signal trought the metal pipe. Thanks so much

great vids, and just one question, is the voltage reference circuit used in the model shown in the demonstration, or is it just the voltage divider?

Can you list the values of the components used in the circuit?
Also can this be modified to make a reader for detecting 125kHz rfid tags?

If all phones are readers then even once the cloud data has all the tags associated with you it dosent matter if u leave Ur phone at home anyone u pass on the street with a phone it could pick up and identify u through the tags in your clothes
