    Well done man, this is how it works though. Broke 200 lb at the end of covid and been working to keep it under control ever since. Intermittent fasting and heavy lifting helps keep things stable while still being able to have some brews, but honestly you nailed the biggest part early in the video: generally being happier with little changes in life for the better will help a lot. Keep up the good work!

    Started this year off with no booze and I've been good so far. My biggest issue is how much my body craved sugar the first few weeks. Cutting out sugar free soda/energy drinks has proved to be helpful. There's still a lot I could do to work on it. Goal is to lose another 30 by May.

    Good job on the weight loss. Im 6-1 and 43 years old. I recently found the carnivore diet and man let me tell you. It freaking works. Ive modified the carnivore diet to fit myself better. I still drink and eat some small amounts of fruit and honey. I dont eat sugar or grains, except whats in my beer. In the last 2 months I have dropped from 228 to 207. For me 200 or 190 is going to be my running weight since I have a good amount of muscle mass. This method is something I know I can keep doing for the rest of my life so its a win in my book. Keep up the good work.

    Awesome job CH. I was once 270 and now I'm comfortable between 185-195. I picked up running and really only have beer on the weekend. Moderation is the key. Just watch out for your tolerance, it had officially disappeared, or at least mine did.

    This was a real roller coaster. Ive done the exact thing myself. Im 41 and got hit hard by the non existent metabolism gaining weight eating salad. So I litterally changed everything, hit the gym 6 days a week moderate alcohol intake eating 6 times a day small portions and low carb. I have lost 48 pounds since September, and this will be the first summer I dont need to hide in the reeds when we go to the beach.

    3 weeks sober today. Genuinely find it very difficult, been drinking a lot, whenever I want for 3 years now and that with a diet of chocolate biscuits has lead me to gain over 15kg in those 3years.

    Great video! So many of us craft beer lovers and brewers struggle with weight. Of course moderation, exercise and self control are mostly the answer, but easier said than done. After a night of thrownin' down 5-10 of my favorite full-leaded craft beers I am ready for and entire frozen pizza and a couple grilled cheese sandwiches (because 2 is always better than 1). Wake up regretting my food decisions and hop on the scale 5lbs heavier. Gotta break that cycle man! Cheers brother and congrats on the successful month!

    @Nefariousrouge ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome job! I took a different approach and just started watching what I eat and logging it in an app. Im down about 25 pounds with no significant exercise, no fasting, and didn’t give up beer. Trick is everything is in moderation, and you can substitute parts of a meal and still have the same enjoyment. I cut back on sugar significantly, but there are a lot of low sugar or no sugar (keto friendly) foods that are still delicious. It just isn’t a case of beer a day anymore. If I would commit to serious exercise, I could probably loose more, or afford to eat/drink a little more.

    Great work! I'm 6'2", 180-ish, I just turned 46, and have homebrewed for almost 18 years. I brok 200lbs last year and started eating better. This year I need to get my weight, health, and alcohol consumption under control. I rock climb and ride a bike recreationally and have never been much of an athlete. I started barbell training in January and haven't missed a workout yet. I crave good food, I only drink on weekends, I've dropped fat and gained muscle; all this without even trying! I just passed my bodyweight on my deadlift and am approaching it on my squat. Bottom line: I feel like I did when I was about 28. Fellow middle-aged dudes...I can't recommend lifting weights enough!

  • @Dayman.
    @Dayman. ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Congrats on the weight loss!
    I agree that your social environment has a massive effect on your caloric intake, if you are always going out with friends and you tend to go to that greasy BBQ around the corner you're more likely to gain weight than if you go to that cute little salat place down the street. That being said fasting seems to ahve worked for you up to a point and weightloss is all about finding what methods work best for you at any given time.
    I generally count calories when I need to gain or lose weight but I keep it off by focusing on 2 things, the protein/calorie ratio of the food (protein is the most saciating nutrient so getting the most of that per calorie helps keep you full) and having some healthy go to options that I really like available at home always. I for example always have a specific type of chili cheese sausage, which is surprisingly low calorie, high protein and very flavorful and I almost always have that and eggs if I just need a quick meal. It honestly is "as simple as" (simple doees not mean easy) calories in/calories out, but how you can sustainably shift that balance is the really tricky part that you have to figure out for yourself. Some people fast, some people count calories, some people cut out certain foods, some people focus on getting more filling foods and so on and so on.

    Hi, good video. Just made a decision to cut out the weekend partying with booze for 7 weeks. I already workout and have a decent diet but I'm sick of the sluggish Monday workouts and little lower chest fat I have lingering, and I know it's the alcohol that's preventing me from burning it off. Gonna stick to it. Putting the guitars away which don't help in influencing me to have that drink that turns into well, many while I play. Have to stay focused and even cut out coffee on the weekends since it acts as a stimulant much like alcohol does in the beginning etc...

    Absolute favorite video you’ve ever made 👏🏻. I’ve always thought moderation was the key in almost anything. You can overdo just about anything, I was drinking really heavily in my 20’s and I wound up getting an ulcer. It seemed so innocent and like a right of passage for being a responsible adult with a full time job and and an apartment, like, this is justified after a long day of work, right? A 6 pack a day isn’t terrible, it’s not vodka, right? Always looking for a reason to rationalize it. Now that I’m 40 and have a kid, it’s just changed my mindset, I love drinking beer, I always will, but as Kenny rogers once said, sometimes ya got know when to fold ‘em. Great video Casey, and congrats, you look great dude

    Good Shit CH - looking good to. This year I took my health a little more seriously, not as extreme as you. I went Low carb/Keto and starting doing interment fasting and I'm down from 245 to 232. Still a while to go braj.

    Last year I lost 50lbs doing combining the intermittent fasting and keto. That coupled with a ton of working out. Weights, cardio, yoga...yeah almost shit myself more than once when I started yoga. THEN came my surgery (not weight loss surgery) and all the anti-inflammatories. So the meds coupled with no more exercising, AND eating like crap again, I gained 30 back. Now I'm back on the grind. Want to be under 200 by May with some muscle. Still gotta have my cheat days though. Gotta have a homebrew once a week ya know.

    I'm two days into my abstinence journey and being from Australia makes it incredibly difficult but I'm determined to stick with it.

    yo, braj... this slaps way harder than I was prepared for, and I'm an $18 4-pack deep tonight. Seriously - we're t=4m21s, and I'm down, let's see what happens!!
    Alright, I'm down, I'm on the IF train, try to hold to a 18/6, but yeah, I'm 6" shorter and same weights, keep it going, you'll get your shit sorted out! Christian Bale is a glorious inspiration, you've chosen correctly.

    I’m 50 now and the older I get, the more that vegetables are my friend. Also, drink out of small glasses and eat on small plates. Great job on the video.

    This must on some level be a 'about to turn 40' . I went through the same thing, minus the working out though. Got down to 180lbs (@6'1"). Drinking much less, but enjoying what I drink more
