Terrifying as this is… I asked a friend of mine who’s knowledgeable about the greater scope lore of DND, the forgotten realms and everything. Even with a Netherise artifact… there are many who can turn Raphael into a grease spot. It’s just a matter of how much carnage he causes till a higher power decides to smite him.
I was with the Emperor throughout the entire game until he dropped the kill Paarthurnax quest on me Orpheus never did anything to me and we *were* exploiting his powers so I weren't going to let him get killed Luckily I stumbled into the House of Hope prior and got the hammer
probs worth noting that ending yourself would not have freed your soul from Raphael anyway, even if you didn't become illithid. when you signed the contract you bound your soul to him, dead or alive. becoming an illithid was enough to free yourself as your soul stopped existing
I think best option for me is to free Orpheus, sacrifice yourself to become an illithid, do not kill yourself, convince Karlach to go back to Avernus with yourself and Wyll, so she at least finally not be alone there. After the 6 months time skip by withers, we see that in our adventures we find the forge of Zariel with the possibility of fixing Karlach's engine for good to permanently return to the material plane. And all the while, even you are an illithid, you help your friends in Avernus, far from judging eyes and without going into exile on Faerun
@VanByyrg she doesn't go into exile. She keeps her soul and helps doctors with terminally ill patients in the city she loves. She absorbs their memories, keeping them alive with her.
If you are minimalistic on the game, you can have it all. That is the cool thing about the game. I refuse to rafaphael and search for a solution wich was invade his home. I refuse contract with wyll and found his father and saved him The game show you dont need to accept what people say its the absolute truth you need to find your own your way. Build right your heroes them you can have it all. The only thing i did kill was the stupid detective celestial who i never liked so i could one of party members became an assassin of bhaal to help me in the fight.
It's a real beauty of this game; it seems like they've thought about almost anything that could possibly happen. It felt like taking that direction would be the most heroic, but I think curiosity about what is going to happen completely took over in my case.
I kinda liked the bittersweet ending, other than mr mindflayer joining the brain. I tried to romance the emperor, i was trying to keep him as he was, safe, and he just immediately left to the ultimate bad. sucked
""Idk about this Emperor guy, he's kinda sus."
"Sure Raphael, I'll sign away the rights to godhood in a Literal Deal with the Devil!"
Smart move right there
When he says "I will knock at your door", it is not the character door that he is talking about. But YOURS (the player).
Ever since I read this comment, I've been looking over my shoulder.

That's very interesting, I want to know more!

Super game sirsoyer
I had the same ending the first time. I felt like I made all the worst choices possible and felt really bad… :p
Thanks! That just confirms I'll have to play through it again. It's great to feel understood!

Yes as I realized after it was to late :)
Make karlach the mind flayer. It saves her life
Unfortunately, that would be impossible since I got rid of her right after getting rid of everybody in Emerald Grove...
No no no no! Do NOT do that. Ceremorphosis kills the host. What is left is an illithid with the memories of its host, not the person they once were.

@@ehWhatever-z2t I am talking about the player going into exile if they become an illithid and go not go to Avernus

Thank you for sharing. I have to say that somehow the potential romance made me distrust him even more ( ≧ᗜ≦)
There is a worse ending... where illithids win
Coming soon!
